MILK METER
20170303496 · 2017-10-26 ·

A milk meter operably coupled to a controller, the milk meter comprising an inlet, an outlet, an inner column coupled to an opening of the outlet. The milk meter further comprises a conductivity sensor comprising a first conductive strip positioned at a first portion of the milk meter and a second conductive strip positioned substantially parallel to the first conductive strip wherein the conductivity sensor measures a change in resistance between the first and second conductive strips as fluid collects inside the milk meter before the fluid exits the milk meter through the outlet opening. The controller is operable to receive data about the fluid from the conductivity sensor and calculate a total quantity of fluid flow through the milk meter over a period of time.

SYSTEM FOR AUTOMATED MEASUREMENT OF FLUID OUTPUT
20170307423 · 2017-10-26 ·

A system for automatically measuring and recording when fluid such as urine is introduced to a fluid collection container is provided. The system includes a measuring device that includes a load cell in communication with other various electronic components. The load cell is attached on one end to a fixed object like a hospital bed. At its other end, it is attached to a fluid collection container such as a urine collection bag. When fluid is introduced into the container, the load cell detects a stress change. A strain gauge (or gauges) on the load cell detects a resistance change and reads the change as a voltage change. That voltage change is amplified and digitized and converted to a weight, volume, and flow rate, before being transmitted to a recordkeeping system like electronic medical records. The system thus provides for real time measurement of fluid output collected in the container.

Method and system for measuring volume of fluid drained from an air conditioning service unit

An air conditioning service system includes an accumulator defining an accumulator chamber, a pressure transducer operably connected to the accumulator chamber, a drain valve operably connected to the accumulator chamber, and a controller operably connected to the pressure transducer and the drain valve. The controller includes a processor configured to execute program instructions stored in a memory to determine a volume of liquid drained from the accumulator by: determining a volumetric flow rate of liquid through the drain valve by controlling the drain valve with the controller to an open position for a predetermined period of time; detecting an increased rate of pressure reduction while the drain valve is open; and determining an amount of liquid drained through the drain valve based upon the volumetric flow rate and a total time elapsed between opening the drain valve and the increased rate of pressure reduction.

Tank level and flow rate monitoring system

The embodiments disclosed herein relate to an apparatus for monitoring a fluid level in a returns tank in the oil and gas industry, the apparatus having a sensor configured to monitor the fluid level of the returns tank, wherein the sensor is located within the tank; and a communication device configured to transmit the fluid level from the sensor to a programmable logic controller.

WATER AMOUNT MEASUREMENT DEVICE AND WATER AMOUNT MONITORING SYSTEM

A water amount measurement device includes a light emitting element to emit light, a light receiving element to receive the light reflected by a liquid surface and by a liquid bottom at a bottom surface within a pipeline, a storage to store a distance from the light emitting element to the liquid bottom, and a processor. The processor computes a water level of the liquid flowing through the pipeline according to different formulas depending on whether a comparison result of distance data obtained based on an output signal of the light receiving element, and the distance at a time of measurement, includes a component corresponding to a distance exceeding the distance generated by the reflection from the liquid bottom, or the comparison result includes a component corresponding to a distance less than the distance generated by the reflection from the liquid surface.

In one aspect, fuel inventory data characterizing a level of fuel stored at a fuel storage facility can be received from a sensor in operable communication with the fuel storage facility. Flow meter data characterizing an amount of fuel dispensed from the fuel storage facility by a fuel dispenser nozzle can be received from a flow meter in fluid communication with the fuel dispenser nozzle and the fuel storage facility. Fuel transaction data characterizing the dispensing of fuel by the fuel dispenser nozzle and the dispensing of the fuel by one or more additional fuel dispenser nozzles in fluid communication with the fuel storage facility can be received. An estimate of meter drift characterizing a change in calibration of the flow meter can be determined based on the fuel inventory data, the flow meter data, and the fuel transaction data. The estimate of meter drift can be provided.

LEAKAGE DETECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD

A method of detecting leakage, comprising the steps of: performing a sequence of monitoring operations; and providing, when it is determined that leakage is present, a signal indicative of detected leakage. Each monitoring operation includes the steps of: generating a transmit signal exhibiting a time-varying frequency; receiving a reflection signal resulting from reflection of the transmit signal at the surface; forming an intermediate frequency signal for the present monitoring operation based on the transmit signal and the reflection signal; determining a phase of the intermediate frequency signal for the present monitoring operation; determining, based on the phase for the present monitoring operation and the phase associated with at least one previous monitoring operation, a measure indicative of a present rate of change of the phase; comparing the measure with a predefined threshold value; and determining a presence of leakage based on the comparison.
