A pipetting unit (2) with capacitive liquid detection comprises: a pressure tube (10); a shield (12) disposed around the pressure tube (10); a coupling (14) for temporarily attaching a pipetting tip (4) to the pipetting unit (2), wherein when the pipetting tip (4) is connected, an electrical connection is established between the pressure tube (10) and the pipetting tip (4); and an electric circuit (20) coupled to the pressure tube (10) and the shield (12), wherein the electric circuit (20) is configured to apply a time-variable electrical signal to the pressure tube (10), said time-variable electrical signal permitting a capacitive detection of a contact between the pipetting tip (4) and a pipetting liquid (112) when the pipetting tip (4) is connected, and wherein the electric circuit (20) is configured to connect the shield (12) to ground.
Drug delivery device with indicator
Systems and methods for monitoring an operational state and/or a fill status of a drug container of a drug delivery device are provided. The drug container can hold a liquid drug. A plunger can be positioned within the drug container. A drive system can advance the plunger to expel the liquid drug from the container. A monitoring system can detect a movement and/or a position of the plunger and/or any component coupled to the plunger. The detection can enable determination of an amount of liquid drug that has been expelled and/or an amount of liquid drug remaining in the drug container. Dosing rates, flow rates, and dosage completion can also be determined.
PLURAL MATERIAL DISPENSING SYSTEM
A plural material dispensing system (10) includes a pump (38) having a cylinder (52) mounted between a first bracket (32) and a second bracket (34), a piston (54) disposed within the cylinder (52), and a pump rod (48) extending from the piston (54) and out of the first bracket (32). Material is provided to the cylinder (52) through a flow path extending through the pump rod (48). The piston (54) drives material downstream out of the cylinder (52), and the interface between the piston (54) and the inner surface of the cylinder (52) provides a dynamic seal during pumping. The flow of material into and out of the pump (38) is controlled by actively-controlled inlet and outlet valves.
METHOD FOR CONTROLLING A MAGNETIC VALVE AND METHOD FOR DISPENSING OR ASPIRATING A VOLUME OF LIQUID AS WELL AS CORRESPONDING DISPENSER/PIPETTING APPARATUS
A method for controlling a magnetic valve and particularly a method for dispensing and/or aspirating a volume of liquid as well as a corresponding dispenser/pipetting apparatus is disclosed. The method for controlling a magnetic valve has measuring a capacitance at the magnetic valve and determining a position of a plunger based on the measured capacitance. The method for dispensing or aspirating a volume of liquid has controlling a flow of a system fluid by a magnetic valve located between a pressure source and a dispenser/pipetting tip, dispensing or aspirating a volume of liquid through an exterior opening of the tip dependent on the flow of the system fluid, wherein controlling the flow and determining a flow time in dependence of the volume of liquid to be dispensed or aspirated, and controlling the magnetic valve is held open for the duration of the flow time.
APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING A LIQUEFIED MATERIAL, DOSAGE SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DOSING A LIQUEFIED MATERIAL
A vapor deposition apparatus is provided. The vapor deposition apparatus includes a tank for providing a liquefied material, a first unit having an alterable first volume, the first unit including a first actuator and including a first line to be in fluid communication with the tank. Further, the vapor deposition apparatus includes a second unit having an alterable second volume, the second unit including a second actuator and including a second line to be in fluid communication with the tank. The vapor deposition apparatus includes an evaporation arrangement, the evaporation arrangement being in fluid communication with the first unit and the second unit. The first actuator and the second actuator are configured to alternatingly provide a force to the alterable first volume and the alterable second volume for providing the liquefied material to the evaporation arrangement.
