Temperature insensitive filter
An integrated wavelength-selective filter device comprises a first optical element, for directing received radiation into a direction defined by a first angle, and a second optical element being a diffractive element configured for diffracting the directed radiation under a second angle. The second angle is such that for a single reference wavelength the diffracted radiation is directed into a propagation medium for advancing therein towards a predetermined position on the first optical element or on a further optical element for filtering radiation having a wavelength substantially matching the reference wavelength from radiation having a substantially different wavelength. The propagation medium is formed from a material that is different from any material of the substrate of the first and the second optical element.
Raman Spectroscopy Based Assay For Both Low and High Abundant Biomolecules in a Biological Fluid Sample
A system and method for assaying high and low abundant biomolecules within a biological fluid sample is provided. The method includes: a) placing a biological fluid sample in contact with a first nanostructure surface; b) interrogating the sample with a light source, the sample in contact with the first nanostructure surface, the interrogation using a SERS technique; c) detecting an enhanced Raman scattering from at least one high abundant biomolecule type and producing first signals representative thereof; d) placing the sample in contact with a second nanostructure surface having a targeting agent that targets a low abundant biomolecule; e) interrogating the sample with the light source using the SERS technique; f) detecting the enhanced Raman scattering from the low abundant biomolecules and producing second signals representative thereof; and g) assaying the biological fluid sample using the first signals and the second signals.
OPTICAL PROPERTY MEASUREMENT APPARATUS AND OPTICAL PROPERTY MEASUREMENT METHOD
An optical property measurement apparatus includes a pulse formation unit, a waveform measurement unit, and an optical system. The pulse formation unit is capable of changing a temporal waveform of pulsed light in accordance with a type of optical property to be measured. The waveform measurement unit measures a temporal waveform of the pulsed light output from a measurement object after being incident on the measurement object. The optical system has an attenuation unit with an attenuation rate with respect to one wavelength component constituting the pulsed light larger than an attenuation rate with respect to another wavelength component constituting the pulsed light. The optical system is capable of switching between a first state in which the attenuation unit is arranged on an optical path of the pulsed light output from the measurement object and a second state in which the attenuation unit is not arranged on the optical path.

Proposed is a spectroscope including a disperser configured to disperse incident signal light, wherein the disperser includes a bandpass filter configured to spectroscopically process the signal light by pivoting according to a driving signal and a light-receiving element configured to receive the signal light spectroscopically processed by bands and outputs a corresponding electrical signal.
High resolution multi-pass optical spectrum analyzer
A system for a high resolution optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) using an efficient multi-pass configuration is disclosed. The system may include an entrance slit to allow inward passage of an optical beam. The system may also include a grating element to diffract the optical beam. The system may further include a retroreflective element to retroreflect the optical beam. The system may also include a mirror to reflect the optical beam. The system may include an exit slit, which in some examples may be adjacent to the entrance slit. The exit slit may allow outward passage of the optical beam for a high resolution optical measurement.

A method and system are disclosed for providing consistent images of leaves of plants, including articulating a lower case of a housing with respect to an upper case via an imaging chamber articulation mechanism from i) a closed state to ii) an open state, the articulable space forms an imaging chamber which is dark when the imaging chamber articulation mechanism is in the closed state, placing the leaf within the imaging chamber, articulating the imaging chamber articulation mechanism to the closed state, activating one or more light sources, actuating a linear actuator to thereby linearly move a camera from i) an initial position to ii) an end position, obtaining images from the camera, re-actuating the linear actuator to thereby linearly move the camera from the end position to the initial position, re-articulating the lower case to the open state, and removing the leaf.
RECONSTRUCTING LIGHT WAVELENGTH SPECTRUM WITH THIN-FILM DEVICE
A spectrometer device includes: a substrate including multiple light detector elements; a first filter layer on the substrate, in which the first filter layer includes multiple groups of filter stacks, each filter stack in the first filter layer including multiple dielectric films of alternating refractive index; and a second filter layer on the first filter layer, in which the second filter layer includes multiple groups of filter stacks, each filter stack in the second filter layer including multiple dielectric films of alternating refractive index, in which each filter stack in the second filter layer is aligned with both a corresponding filter stack in the first filter layer and a corresponding light detector element to define a respective photodetector channel, and in which each photodetector channel includes a different optical transmission spectrum.
Multichannel broadband high-resolution spectrograph
The present invention discloses a multichannel broadband high-resolution spectrograph, comprising a plurality of light source incident slits, a multichannel integrated grating, a multichannel shared two-dimensional focus imaging mirror and a two-dimensional area array detector which are sequentially disposed along a light source incident or reflection line, wherein the multichannel integrated grating consists of a plurality of sub-gratings, incident light enters the corresponding integrated gratings along the light source incident slits and then is focused by the shared two-dimensional focus imaging mirror after diffraction of the integrated grating, and diffraction light in a full-spectrum region is incident onto a focal plane of the two-dimensional area array detector for detection. No any mechanical displacement part is disposed, multichannel, full-spectrum and high-speed detection and analysis is achieved, and the present disclosure has high spectrum resolution and working reliability.

A system for a high resolution optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) using an efficient multi-pass configuration is disclosed. Thermal imaging with an integrated photonics chip
An integrated photonics chip for thermal imaging comprises a photonics substrate including a plurality of receiver elements. Each receiver element comprises a first grating coupler optically coupled to a first waveguide filter and configured to receive a first wavelength of light at a given angle, with the first waveguide filter configured to pass the first wavelength of light; and a second grating coupler optically coupled to a second waveguide filter and configured to receive a second wavelength of light at the given angle, with second waveguide filter configured to pass the second wavelength of light. Each receiver element receives the wavelengths of light from an object of interest that emits the light due to blackbody radiation, and receives the wavelengths of light at respectively different angles. Each grating coupler receives a unique wavelength of light with respect to the other wavelengths of light received by the other grating couplers.
