Use of isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 as a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for lung cancers
The present invention relates to a method for diagnosing the lung cancers such as non small lung cancer in a subject by using isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 as a diagnostic biomarker. The present invention also relates to a method for predicting the prognosis of the lung cancers such as non small lung cancer in a subject by using isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 as a prognostic biomarker. The present invention further relates to a method to suppress proliferation of lung tumor cells in a subject, decrease growth of lung tumor cells in a subject, or improve survival of a subject with lung cancer by using isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 as a therapeutic target.
NOD2-DEPENDENT PATHWAY OF CYTOPROTECTION OF STEM CELLS
The present invention is directed to an agonist of NOD2 for use in therapy for increasing the autonomous capacity of survival of vertebrate adult stem cells, without loss of their capacity to multiply and differentiate, and preferably the capacity of survival of intestinal stem cells, especially in response to a stress. The invention also concerns the use of an agonist of Nod2 for increasing in vitro or ex vivo the autonomous capacity of survival, without loss of multiplication and differentiation capacity of mammalian adult stem cell. The invention also discloses different media and support for mammalian adult stem cells. The invention also concerns an in vitro screening process for identifying molecules capable increasing, in response to a stress, the autonomous capacity of survival, without loss of multiplication and differentiation capacity of mammalian adult stem cells.
ENERGY DRINKS AND OTHER NUTRITIONAL AIDS DERIVED FROM AGAVE-BASED SPIRITS
Compositions containing monoamine oxidase inhibitors prepared by removal of alcohol from agave-derived beverages are disclosed.
Mobile automated health sensing system, method and device
The claimed invention relates to mobile computing monitoring of health statistics using chemically synthesized conjugate markers providing highly specific details of personal health states. Using portable computing and communications devices, commonly known as ‘smartphones’, personal health and wellness information is gathered from chemical markers and reported to the user. Chemical markers include chemicals which undergo a measurable color change when combined with body fluids such as saliva. Health information derived from chemical markers may be optically collected, locally reported and widely broadcast over a ‘cloud based’ internet data distribution system.
Bioreactor System
A three dimensional cell culture and bioreactor system is provided. The system comprises one or more cell culture chamber. Each cell culture chamber comprises an inlet port and an outlet port in fluid communication with the cell culture chamber. The cell culture chambers may be segregated or in fluid communication with one another. The systems may be used to conduct drug efficacy test, isolate certain cell types from a complex tissue sample of multiple cell types, allow for the ex vivo culturing of patient tissue samples to help guide the course of treatment, and conduct co-culture experiments.
METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR ANALYZING GLUCOSE-6-PHOSPHATE DEHYDROGENASE ACTIVITY IN BLOOD SAMPLES
Methods and compositions for the detection of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) enzyme activity in blood samples are described. Some embodiments disclosed herein provide methods for detecting G6PD activity in undiluted or minimally diluted blood samples, including obtaining a blood sample, and detecting G6PD activity present in the undiluted or minimally diluted blood sample by epifluorescence. Also provided are methods for detecting G6PD activity and detecting a bloodborne microorganism as two parts of a single test.
QUANTIFICATION METHOD OF VITAMIN D DERIVATIVE, ENZYME FOR QUANTIFICATION, COMPOSITION FOR QUANTIFICATION, KIT FOR QUANTIFICATION, ELECTRODE, SENSOR CHIP, AND SENSOR
A quantitation method of vitamin D derivative is provided including adding an oxidoreductase to a sample. The quantitation method of vitamin D derivative may further include reducing a mediator by adding the oxidoreductase, and reacting the reduced mediator with a reagent to determine a concentration of the vitamin D derivative.
GRAPHENE-POLYMER-ENZYME HYBRID NANOMATERIALS FOR BIOSENSORS
The invention relates to a general chemical method for the synthesis of biocompatible hybrid nanomaterials which can be used in the development of new-type enzyme based biosensors. A one-step facile method is presented, in which polyethylenimine (PEI) serves as both a reducing agent for the reduction of graphene oxide (GO) into reduced graphene oxide (RGO) and a biological matrix for accommodation of enzymes.
Methods for predicting the sensitivity of a subject to immunotherapy
The present invention relates to a method of assessing, predicting or monitoring the sensitivity of a subject having a tumor or cancer to an immunotherapeutic molecule acting on the subject's T cells, to a method of selecting an appropriate treatment of cancer, to a method of screening or identifying a compound suitable for improving the treatment of a cancer, and to the use of corresponding kits. The method of predicting or monitoring the sensitivity of a subject having a tumor to an immunotherapeutic molecule acting on the subject's T cells typically comprises a step a) of determining, in a biological sample from said subject, the expression level of soluble CD25 (sCD25) and, when the expression level is determined, a step b) of comparing at least said expression level to a reference expression level, thereby assessing whether the subject having a tumor is responsive or resistant to the immunotherapeutic molecule.
Cytochrome-fused glucose dehydrogenase and glucose measurement method
A cytochrome b-glucose dehydrogenase fusion protein having modified electron transfer properties, and a glucose measurement method and measuring kit using the cytochrome b-glucose dehydrogenase fusion protein are provided. Provided are a cytochrome b-glucose dehydrogenase fusion protein in which glucose dehydrogenase having homology with SEQ ID NO: 1 or SEQ ID NO: 4 and cytochrome b are linked together, as well as a glucose measurement method, a measurement reagent kit and a sensor using the cytochrome b-glucose dehydrogenase fusion protein. The cytochrome b-glucose dehydrogenase fusion protein of the present invention has modified electron transfer properties, and can be used for measuring glucose in the presence of a free-form mediator in reduced concentration or in the absence of a free-form mediator, and can be used, for example, in continuous glucose monitoring.
