A method for inspecting a fastened structure, the fastened structure having at least one structural member defining a bore therein and a mechanical fastener received in the bore, includes applying acoustic energy to the fastened structure, the acoustic energy being applied over a plurality of frequencies, measuring a response of the fastened structure across at least two frequencies of the plurality of frequencies, and comparing the response of the fastened structure at the at least two frequencies of the plurality of frequencies to predefined values for the at least two frequencies of the plurality of frequencies to determine whether an out-of-tolerance condition is present.

A device for use in inspecting a test object is provided. The device can include a body including a first end and a second end. The second end can be opposite the first end. The device can also include a probe receiver located at the first end of the body. The probe receiver can be configured to receive an ultrasonic probe. The device can further include a coupling portion located at the second end of the body. The coupling portion can be configured to position the ultrasonic probe with respect to an axis of force transmission of a test object or normal to one or more material layers of the test object during an ultrasound inspection of the test object. Methods of forming the device and performing ultrasonic inspection of a test object with the device are also provided.
Control method of probe with ultrasonic phased array transducers in hinge array
The disclosure relates to a control method of a probe with ultrasonic phased array transducers in a hinge array, and belongs to the technical field of ultrasonic detecting. The control method includes the steps: firstly, fixing a part under test, making a central piezoelectric array element of piezoelectric array elements for the ultrasonic phased array transducers in the hinge array make contact with a surface of the part under test, and then fixing a fixed support; before detection is started, driving the hinge array through voice coil motors to make the piezoelectric array elements completely fit the surface of the part under test, wherein the number of the piezoelectric array elements is 2N+1 (N=1, 2, 3, 4 and 5), and different values of N are selected according to a size of the part under test; with the value of pressure of the central piezoelectric array element as a standard and difference values between values of pressures of other piezoelectric array elements and the value of pressure of the central piezoelectric array element as control signals of respective corresponding voice coil motor coils, controlling output rods to drive the hinge array; keeping the values of pressures of all the piezoelectric array elements consistent by means of an incremental digital PID control method; and then realizing deflecting and focusing of ultrasonic waves by means of a time delay rule for ultrasonic detecting, thereby detecting parts under test with planar or curved surfaces.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DETECTING MICROCRACK USING ORTHOGONALITY ANALYSIS OF MODE SHAPE VECTOR AND PRINCIPAL PLANE IN RESONANCE POINT
This application relates to an apparatus and method for detecting a microcrack using orthogonality analysis of a mode shape vector and a principal plane in a resonance point. The apparatus may include a measurement unit comprising multiple sensors and configured to measure whether a crack exists at a measurement target, and an analysis unit configured to determine whether a crack exists, on the basis of measurement values of the respective sensors. The measurement unit includes a fixing jig configured to fix the measurement target, an excitation means configured to apply a predetermined impact to the measurement target, and multiple acceleration sensors attached at predetermined locations on the measurement target. The analysis unit may further calculate frequency responses of the measurement target to the impact applied by the excitation means, and determine whether a crack exists by analyzing the number of resonance points and independence of the resonance points.
Sensor probe for analysis of a fluid
A sensor probe for analysis of a fluid includes a base, and a pair of electrodes and a pair of shield members protruding from the base for insertion into the fluid. The electrodes have electrical oscillations generated therein for measurement of electromagnetic properties of the fluid, such as permittivity. The shield members are disposed outside the electrodes and have a dual purpose of electromagnetically shielding the electrodes and having vibrations generated therein for measurement of physical parameters of the fluid, such as density or viscosity. Thus, the single sensor probe can provide measurements of both electromagnetic properties and physical properties of the fluid.
Systems and methods for measuring properties using bulk acoustic waves
A measuring system is disclosed. The measuring system includes a surface acoustic wave (SAW) device including a piezoelectric substrate and a first and second electrode disposed on a surface of the piezoelectric substrate, and a measuring device communicatively coupled to the first electrode via a first probe and the second electrode via a second probe and configured to apply an electrical signal to the first and second electrode to generate an incident bulk acoustic wave within the piezoelectric substrate, detect at least a first reflected bulk acoustic wave and a second reflected bulk acoustic wave at the first and second electrode, and calculate a thickness between a first interface corresponding to the first reflected bulk acoustic wave and a second interface corresponding to the second reflected bulk acoustic wave based on a time elapsed between detecting the first and second reflected bulk acoustic waves.

The first structure body includes a supporter, a deformable part supported by a first portion of the supporter, and a membrane part. At least a portion of the membrane part is connected to the deformable part and a second portion of the supporter. The second structure body is connected to the first structure body. A liquid is provided between the first structure body and the second structure body. The detector outputs a signal corresponding to a deformation of the deformable part.
