QUALITY CONTROL SYSTEM FOR ANALYZING THE QUALITY OF A BATTERY CELL THROUGH ANALYSIS OF A PHYSICAL PROPERTY OF A GAS FORMED DURING A CELL FORMATION PROCESS AND A METHOD OF ANALYZING THE SAME
A quality control system analyzes the quality of a battery cell, with the battery cell defining a gas pouch configured to be filled with a gas. The quality control system includes a computational system including a processor and a memory, a manifold defining a passageway extending between an inlet port for receiving the gas and an outlet port, and at least one sensor in electronic communication with the computational system. The sensor is arranged to measure a physical property of the gas and transmit a signal to the computational system corresponding to the physical property of the gas. The computational system analyzes the physical property of the gas, accesses a threshold value corresponding to the physical property, compares the physical property to the threshold value, and assess a quality score for the battery cell. A corresponding method analyzes the quality of the battery cell with the quality control system.
Method of operating gas sensors and corresponding device, sensor and program product
A method includes applying heat to a metal oxide sensing element of a gas sensor, varying the heat applied to the metal oxide sensing element for at least a time interval, and measuring an electrical resistance of the metal oxide sensing element versus variation of the heat for a time interval. The measurement of electrical resistance of the metal oxide sensing element versus variation of the heat applied to the metal oxide sensing element is compared to a set of corresponding reference measurements associated with a plurality of different target gases. A further sensor parameter versus the variation of electrical resistance and variation of the heat applied is measured to obtain a three-dimensional trajectory corresponding to variation of the sensor resistance, the variation of said heat and the variation of the further sensor parameter. This comparing includes comparing the trajectory in three dimensions to a set of reference three-dimensional objects.

The personal air quality monitor may include a housing suitable for physical association with a person; an air inlet capable of providing air flow from an environment outside the housing to a chamber within the housing; a plurality of sensor resident within the chamber, suitable for receiving the airflow and measuring air quality factors associated with the airflow; and a communication system suitable for processing the air quality factor measurements and communicating the processed air quality factor measurements to a user interface cognizable to the person.
Method and system for gas identification by simultaneous permeation through parallel membranes
The present disclosure relates to a system and a method for gas fingerprinting. The system includes multiple holders having a distinct gas-permeable membrane disposed of therewithin such that a confined space is created behind the membranes. The test gas is pressurized in a single gas reservoir and is allowed to permeate through the membranes into respective confined spaces. The accumulated pressure values behind the utilized membranes (in the confined spaces) at a given time, are simultaneously recorded using pressure sensors. The recorded gas accumulation data is processed by a computing device to determine a characteristic property for each test gas. The system ability to fingerprint gases is demonstrated by ten test gases including helium, neon, argon, hydrogen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, methane, ethane, propane, and ethylene, and is also able to discriminate between closely related gases.

METHOD FOR SELECTING PRIMARY ODORS, METHOD FOR REPRESENTING, PRESENTING, OR SYNTHESIZING AN ODOR BY COMBINATION OF PRIMARY ODORS, AND APPARATUS FOR THE SAME
The present invention makes it possible to represent or synthesize any odor by separating the odor into a combination of a relatively small number of odors, similarly to separating a color into three primary colors. Since the “primary odors” corresponding to the primary colors have not yet been ascertained, the present invention provides a feasible method and apparatus in which, instead of presetting such fixed primary odors, the separation, synthesis, and the like can be performed by selecting a subset of odors from among a set consisting of a plurality of odors which subset or odors enables approximation of other odors as much as possible by mixture.
