11662579 · 2023-05-30 · ·

A combiner lens system includes a lens and a lightguide in stack with the lens. The lightguide carries one or more electrically conductive traces. A detector circuit is electrically coupled to the one or more electrically conductive traces to form an electrical circuit. The detector circuit monitors the electrical circuit for an open circuit or a short circuit and generates an output signal that is indicative of a state of the electrical circuit.

ALERT SYSTEM AND RECORDING MEDIUM

An alert system includes a display device, a display control unit, and a target recognition unit. The display control unit: when the number of targets recognized by the target recognition unit is equal to or more than an upper limit number, sets a display range of a surrounding icon as a whole circular area; and in a state where the number of targets is equal to or more than the upper limit number and the display range of the surrounding icon is set as the whole circular area, when the number of targets increases, reduces the size of the surrounding icon.

Method and apparatus for a stereoscopic smart phone

This patent provides a novel stereoscopic imaging system. In the preferred embodiment, the improved stereoscopic imaging system would be incorporated onto a smart phone, which is called the stereoscopic smart phone (SSP). The SSP would work in conjunction with one or more stereoscopic head display units (SHDUs). Once this system is operational, it will allow significant improvements to obtaining stereoscopic imagery. One novel aspect of this patent comprises wherein the stereoscopic cameras on the SSP can move in position to alter stereo separation distance and change the convergence to optimally image a scene.

Systems and methods for extending a keyboard to a surrounding surface using a wearable extended reality appliance

Systems, methods, and non-transitory computer readable media for virtually extending a physical keyboard are disclosed. In one implementation, a non-transitory computer readable medium contains instructions that cause a processor to: receive image data representing a keyboard placed on a surface from an image sensor associated with a wearable extended reality appliance; determine that the keyboard is paired with the wearable extended reality appliance; receive an input for causing a display of a virtual controller with the keyboard; display, via the wearable extended reality appliance, the virtual controller in a first location on the surface, with original spatial orientation relative to the keyboard; detect a movement of the keyboard to a different location on the surface; and in response to the detected movement, present the virtual controller in a second location on the surface, with a subsequent spatial orientation relative to the keyboard that corresponds to the original spatial orientation.

System and method for assisting a user in remaining in a selected area while the user is in a virtual reality environment

A method and apparatus is disclosed for assisting a user, wearing a head mounted display (HMD) that covers a user's field of vision and has a tracker providing information regarding the position and orientation of the HMD, in locating a physical controller located on a physical base station. A processor causes the HMD to display a virtual world, including a virtual representation of the physical base station and physical controller along with a virtual hand that helps guide the user to the physical base station to allow the user to pick up the physical controller. Another embodiment allows an area in the physical world to be defined within which the user should remain, for example to avoid physical obstacles. The processor causes the HMD to display a warning, such as a virtual fence, to alert the user if the user approaches to within a preselected distance of the boundary.

DEVICE MANAGEMENT IN A SMART ENVIRONMENT

A processor may receive environment data associated with a smart environment having one or more intelligent environment device. A processor may analyze the environment data and intelligent environment device information, wherein the intelligent environment device information is associated with the intelligent environment device. A processor may generate a simulation based, at least in part on, the environment data and the intelligent environment data. A processor may identify one or more hazards in the smart environment from the simulation, wherein the one or more hazards are associated with the one or more intelligent environment devices.

The disclosure provides a method for dynamically showing a virtual boundary, an electronic device and a computer readable storage medium thereof. The method includes: obtaining a virtual scene boundary of a virtual reality (VR) environment; determining a distance threshold based on a moving speed of a specific element of a VR system, wherein the specific distance threshold is positively related to the moving speed of the specific element; monitoring a specific distance between the specific element and the virtual scene boundary of the VR environment; in response to determining that the specific distance is smaller than the distance threshold, showing the virtual scene boundary of the VR environment.

An integrated computational interface device may include a portable housing having a key region and a non-key region; a keyboard associated with the key region of the housing; and a holder associated with the non-key region of the housing. The holder may be configured for selective engagement with and disengagement from the wearable extended reality appliance, such that when the wearable extended reality appliance is selectively engaged with the housing via the holder, the wearable extended reality appliance is transportable with the housing.

Laser safety in wearable heads-up displays

Systems, devices, and methods provide for the prevention of laser light escaping a foldable wearable heads-up display (WHUD) when the WHUD is folded. For a WHUD that adopts the form factor of conventional eyeglasses or sunglasses, enabling the WHUD to fold “like glasses” can cause an interruption in the optical path of display light and enable display light to escape into the external environment. This can be hazardous when laser light is used to provide display light. Systems, devices, and methods that automatically detect, sense, and/or respond to the fold configuration state of a WHUD are described. When the WHUD is unfolded a laser-based display operates normally. When the WHUD is folded the laser-based display is disabled to prevent laser light from projecting out of the WHUD through the folded region. Proximity sensors and laser light containing mechanisms also may be employed as alternative or supplementary safety elements.
