Provided is eyewear comprising a front piece that has a metallic wraparound end piece and a non-metallic hinge member that constitutes a hinge portion together with the wraparound end piece. Thereby eyewear that is comfortable to wear and has a metallic front piece is provided.

Wearable heads-up display with optical path fault detection

A wearable heads-up display includes a power source, laser sources, and a lightguide. A photodetector is positioned to detect an intensity of a test light emitted at a perimeter of the lightguide from an optical path within the lightguide. A laser safety circuit provides a control to reduce or shut off a supply of electrical power from the power source to the laser sources in response to an output signal from the photodetector indicating that the detected intensity is below a threshold.

Heat management in wireless electronic devices

An eyewear device has an antenna system having at least one element which contributes to wireless signal transmission, and which is thermally connected to a heat-generating electronic component of the eyewear device to serve as a heat sink for the electronic component. A driven antenna element and/or a plurality of PCB extenders electrically connected to a PCB ground plane can thus be employed for both signal transmission and heat management.

Eyewear device hinge assembly

A hinge assembly mounted on a housing of form part of an electronic device includes a metal hinge member having a hinge post that extends through a mounting hole in a wall of the housing, the hinge post being connected to a metal anchor plate on an inner side of the housing wall to be rotationally and axially fast with the anchor plate. The anchor plate may has an area multiple times the size of a footprint of the hinge member, with fastening the hinge post and the anchor plate in some embodiments being by a welded connection.

A connection structure of a spectacle frame includes a frame, a connection member, and a temple. The frame is provided with a joint portion at each of both sides thereof, and a pivot shaft protrudes from each of upper and lower surfaces of a joint end of the joint portion. The connection member includes a body provided with a through-hole and having first and second abutting portions at front and rear sides of the through-hole. A head end of the connection member is provided with two shaft holes to respectively connect the two pivot shafts. The temple has a bending portion and an elastic piece extending from the bending portion and passing through the through-hole, such that the bending portion abuts against the first abutting portion and the second abutting portion to allow the temple relative to the frame to be folded inward or stretched outward.

Eyewear having a frame, a hinge, and a hyperextendable temple. An extender is coupled to the hinge and the temple, and the extender extends with respect to the hinge allowing hyperextension of the temple with respect to the frame. A cam is configured to leverage the temple away from the frame during hyperextension and reduce wear. A cosmetic trim may include a recess that receives a protrusion of the frame in the open position, and which protrusion moves out of the recess during hyperextension and creates the cam.
