Staging data on a storage element integrating fast durable storage and bulk durable storage, including: receiving, at a storage element integrating fast durable storage and bulk durable storage, a data storage operation from a host computer; storing data corresponding to the data storage operation within fast durable storage in accordance with a first data resiliency technique; and responsive to detecting a condition for transferring data between fast durable storage and bulk durable storage, transferring the data from fast durable storage to bulk durable storage in accordance with a second data resiliency technique.

The present disclosure relates to methods and devices for graphics processing including an apparatus, e.g., a GPU. The apparatus may process a first workload of a plurality of workloads at each of multiple clusters in a GPU pipeline. The apparatus may also increment a plurality of performance counters during the processing of the first workload at each of the multiple clusters. Further, the apparatus may determine, at each of the multiple clusters, whether the first workload is finished processing. The apparatus may also read, upon determining that the first workload is finished processing, a value of each of the multiple clusters for each of the plurality of performance counters. Additionally, the apparatus may transmit an indication of the read value of each of the multiple clusters for all of the plurality of performance counters.

A packet backpressure detection method and apparatus are provided. The method includes: a device which having a Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe) port storing a plurality of packets for transmission in a packet queue and storing a packet that is to be transmitted next in a first buffer, where the queue comprises a plurality of packets that are to be transmitted via the PCIe port; and the queue is stored in a second buffer; recording a storage duration of each packet stored in the first buffer, and accumulating the storage duration of each packet stored in the first buffer; removing the packet from the first buffer after the packet is transmitted via the PCIe port; and generating an indication of packet pressure at the PCIe port based on the accumulated storage duration.

There is provided a method for managing a solid state storage system with hybrid storage technologies. The method includes monitoring one or more storage request streams to identify operating mode characteristics therein from among a set of possible operating mode characteristics. The set of possible operating mode characteristics correspond to a set of available operating modes of the hybrid storage technologies. The method further includes identifying a current operating mode from among the set of available operating modes responsive to the identified operating mode characteristics. The method also includes predicting a likely future operating mode responsive to variations in workload requirements to generate at least one future operating mode prediction. The method additionally includes controlling at least one of data placement, wear leveling, and garbage collection, responsive to the at least one future operating mode prediction.

Optimizing backup performance with heuristic configuration selection
Embodiments are described for a heuristic configuration selection process as part of or accessible by the backup management process. This processing component provides a method to automatically determine the configuration parameters needed to obtain optimal performance for a given backup/restore job. This process involves identifying key parameters that determine backup performance and suggest means to derive and incorporate those configurable parameters into the backup software automatically. Embodiments can be applied to stream based backups, or other types of backup software as well.
Multi-core I/O trace analysis
Improved mechanisms and techniques for recording and aggregating trace information from multiple computing modules of a storage system may be provided. On a storage system having multiple computing modules, where each computing module has multiple processing cores, processing cores may record trace information for I/O operations in dedicated local memory—i.e., memory in the same computing module as the processing core that is dedicated to the computing module. One of the processing cores may be configured to aggregate trace information from across multiple computing modules into its dedicated local memory by accessing trace information from the dedicated local memories of the other computing modules in addition to its own. The aggregated information in one dedicated local memory then may be analyzed for functionality and/or performance and additional action taken based on the analysis.
Debug Trace Fabric for Integrated Circuit
A trace network for debugging integrated circuits is disclosed. At least one functional network includes a plurality of components interconnected by a number of network switches, implemented on at least one integrated circuit. A trace network is also implemented on the at least one integrated circuit, and includes a plurality of trace circuits configured to generate trace data based on transactions between ones of the plurality of components. The plurality of trace circuits are coupled to one another by a plurality of trace network switches. The trace circuits are configured to convey the generated trace data to an interface, via the trace network, without using the at least one functional network.
