The document reading device reads an image of a document. The controller saves a file of image data, obtained through reading operation by the document reading device, in a storage device, with a file name assigned to the file. The information acquirer acquires information having high relevance to the document image, through a search engine using the document image represented by the image data as search criterion. The word extractor extracts, on a basis of character information included in the information acquired by the information acquirer, a prospective word for the file name out of a character group indicated by the character information. The controller assigns the prospective word for the file name extracted by the word extractor, to the file of the image data, as the file name.
