A light emitting shoe assembly includes a shoe that is wearable on a user's foot. The shoe has a vamp, a heel, a heel lift, a shank, a heel breast, an outsole and a collar. A light emitter is integrated into the shoe such that the light emitter emits light outwardly from the shoe. A template is integrated into the light emitter and the template is comprised of a light impermeable material to inhibit light from passing through the template. A pattern is punched through the template to produce an image on the support surface. A color switch is movably integrated into the shoe and the color switch is electrically coupled to the light emitter thereby altering a color of light that is emitted by the light emitter.

The present invention relates to a display device for an artificial fireplace, configured to display a fireplace video that at least comprises flames. The display device comprises a backlight source, which comprises a plurality of LEDs, which are disposed in an LED pattern, wherein the backlight source is configured to emit light with the LEDs, and an LCD-panel, which is configured to selectively transmit and/or modulate light from the backlight source, in order to display the fireplace video. An edge of the LED pattern thereby substantially corresponds to a flame top edge of a flame area in which the flames are imaged in the fireplace video.

Modular lighted display panel assemblies are disclosed that are used to provide modular lighted signage in various applications. The modular lighted display panel assemblies may be linked in a serialized fashion in certain implementations shown herein. In one particular implementation described herein, modular lighted display panel assemblies are linked to provide digital signage on a series of server racks. The techniques described herein allow implementation of some panels without the additional cost and complexity of power modules and/or lighting modules.

Internally illuminable playing cards are disclosed. The disclosed playing cards may include a polymeric body, at least one light-emitting diode (LED) at least partially inside of the polymeric body, a battery (or a slot in the polymeric body for receiving a battery) for providing power to the at least one LED, and a switch at least partially inside the polymeric body and operatively connected to the at least one LED to facilitate turning the at least one LED on and off. As can be understood based on this disclosure, the internally illuminable playing cards can be used for flourishing and cardistry techniques, in a manner similar to the way typical paper playing cards are used for such techniques.

White LEDs internal to the housing provide light for energizing photoluminescent material. A legend panel housed within the housing defines openings corresponding to the legend. Photoluminescent material is disposed within the openings of the legend panel. The photoluminescent material is selected to be energizable by light from the white light source, and to emit light primarily in a selected wavelength range corresponding to a desired legend color. A color is filter disposed adjacent the photoluminescent material on a side of the legend panel opposite the light source. The color filter is selected to selectively transmit substantially all light in the selected wavelength range, and to selectively not transmit substantially all light outside the selected wavelength range.
