VISUALLY IDENTIFIABLE ELECTRICAL STRUCTURAL WIRING SYSTEM
The present invention provides an identifiable armored cable sheath. In accordance with an aspect of the present invention, there is provided an identifiable armored cable sheath comprising: an armored cable sheath having an outer surface, and a visual indicia applied on the outer surface of the cable sheath in a patterned arrangement, wherein the visual indicia possesses visibility features in low light. Another aspect of the present invention provides a method of making an identifiable armored cable sheath comprising: providing an armored cable sheath, and applying a visually distinctive tape to the outer surface of the sheath in a patterned arrangement.
OVERHEAD LINE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME, AND METHOD FOR PREVENTING BIRD FROM STRIKING OVERHEAD LINE AT NIGHT
An overhead line (10) including luminous tape (2) wound around the surface of a line body (1) is used to prevent birds from striking the overhead line (10) at night.
Method of Manufacturing a Cable
A method of manufacturing a cable with an electrical and/or optical transmission element containing core, which is surrounded by a cover of insulation material is indicated. Generated on the outer side of the cable on its entire length is at least one in the axial direction running strip composed of insulation material, which has a different color than the cover has. The material of the cover and the strip are applied by means of an extruder through co-extrusion simultaneously on the core of the cable so that the material of the strips is integrated into the material of the cover. The material of the cover and strips are applied by means of an extruder which has an inner flow channel and one surrounding all-around outer flow channel which merge. In the outer flow channel is arranged an all-around existing barrier constructed as a ring, that has at least one passage for the required material for a strip. The material of the strips is with pressure forced through the passage and pushed or pressed in the inner flow channel, through which the material for the cover is guided, as a result of which the material of the strips is imprinted or pressed into the material of the cover and thereby is tightly bound with the same or anchored in the same.
Apparatus for applying a sleeve to a cable
A fabric sleeve in the form of a strip of material having compatible attachment members along its lateral edges, is applied to a cable by a device located at a site where the cable can be introduced into a conduit. The device includes a beam carried by a post. The beam carries a plurality of formers which receive the sleeve and the cable from rolls and which progressively fold the sleeve around the cable. The beam also carries an attachment device which receives the sleeve and cable from the formers and which connects the attachment members of the sleeve to confine the cable therein. The attachment device can be opened so that the sleeved cable can be removed. The device is operated at the site until the sleeved cable reaches a downstream installation site and the process is repeated at that downstream site.
