COMPOSITIONS AND COATINGS FORMED THEREOF WITH REDUCED ICE ADHERENCE AND ACCUMULATION
A durable coating which reduces ice adhesion and minimizes ice accumulation includes a polymeric binder and a film forming lubricant. The polymeric binder is selected from a fluoropolymer or silicone polymer having one or more reactive groups. The film forming lubricant is a lubricous fluoropolymer or silicone polymer. Methods of applying a durable coating are also disclosed.
POWER UNIT AND POWER CABLE FOR MOBILE COMMUNICATION BASE STATION
The present disclosure relates to a power unit and a power cable for a mobile communication base station, which have sufficiently low inductance and thus minimize voltage oscillation regardless of a change of the amount of power transmitted when communication load of a mobile communication base station increases, thereby providing stable communication services, and which enhance workability of connection to a remote radio unit (RRU) at a base station.
OVERHEAD ELECTRICAL CABLE INTERROGATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Systems and methods for the interrogation of an overhead electrical cable using a coherent light source, such as a laser. The systems and methods may include the isolation of one or more optical fibers that are embedded in or attached to a strength member of the electrical cable, and the connection of an interrogation device such as an OTDR device to the optical fibers for the purpose of interrogating the overhead electrical cable to determine a state of the cable, such as temperature or mechanical strain.
COMPOSITE REINFORCEMENT SYSTEMS FOR POWER TRANSMISSIONLINES, AND METHODS OF FORMING SAME
A hybrid single or multilayer composite reinforcement system is disclosed. The system is configured to install or apply around the existing power transmission lines, for example, ACSR transmission lines for increasing ampacity and also decreasing sag of the power transmission lines. The hybrid composite system comprises a first layer, a second layer, and a composite core as a structural reinforcement component. The first layer and second layer are formed using a fiber reinforced resin composite material, comprising a basalt fiber and the structural reinforcement component is a carbon fiber. The composite core is disposed between the first layer and second layer. Further, the first layer and second layer are cured, thereby making the multilayer hybrid composite reinforcement system. The composite core, comprising for example carbon fiber, provides structural strength for the hybrid composite system. The system is novel, lightweight, fast and easy to install, long-lasting, reliable, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective.
Messenger wires for electric trains, methods for making and methods for installation
An electrical train messenger wire and a catenary system for an electrical train including the electrical train messenger wire. The messenger wire includes a fiber-reinforced composite strength member and a conductive layer surrounding the fiber-reinforced composite strength member, where the conductive layer is fabricated from copper or a copper alloy. The fiber-reinforced strength member advantageously has a high tensile strength, thereby reducing the sag of a contact wire supported by the messenger wire. The catenary system employing the messenger wire may facilitate faster train speeds and may obviate the need for cantilever systems such as balanced weight anchors to maintain tension in the contact wire.
INTERLOCKING INSULATOR AND CONDUCTOR COVER FOR ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS
A dielectric cover for an insulator and conductor in an electrical distribution includes an insulator cover for covering the insulator, an arm for covering a portion of the conductor extending from under the insulator cover, and an arm adapter for securing the arm to the insulator cover. The arm adapter has a raised outer first rib, and the arm has a raised outer second rib and an inner first groove. The lineman positions the insulator cover and arm adapter over the insulator, such as by using a hotstick. Then, the lineman slides the arm down over the arm adapter so that the first rib enters the first groove to secure the arm to the arm adapter. Retaining pins are then inserted through holes in the insulator cover and arm to secure the dielectric cover over the insulator and conductor. The arm's raised second rib acts as a water dam to prevent flashovers.

Climate responsive transmission lines
An electrical power transmission line conductor having a bundle of at least one electrical conductor configured for transmission of high voltage alternating current electrical power, at least one strengthening structure bundled with the electrical conductor to provide physical support to the electrical conductor, and at least one magnetocaloric structure having magnetocaloric material. A changing magnetic field generated by transmission of high voltage alternating current electrical power via the at least one conductor causes the magnetocaloric material composition to exhibit a magnetocaloric effect to regulate the operating temperature of the electrical power transmission line conductor.
SYSTEMS, METHODS AND TOOLS FOR THE INTERROGATION OF COMPOSITE STRENGTH MEMBERS
Systems, methods and tools for the interrogation of fiber-reinforced composite strength members to assess the structural integrity of the strength members. The systems and methods utilize the transmission of light through optical fibers that are embedded along the length of the strength members. The inability to detect light through one or more of the optical fibers may be an indication that the structural integrity of the A strength member is compromised. The systems and methods may be implemented without great difficulty and may be implemented at any time in the life cycle of the strength member, from production through installation. The systems and methods have particular applicability to bare overhead electrical cables that include a fiber-reinforced strength member.
