Energy regulators which use a bi-metallic strip to open and close electrical contacts are commonly used in household appliances for temperature regulation. This approach however often results in a slow connection and disconnection of the electrical contacts. This can result in arcing which can reduce the life of the switching components and/or cause the contacts to bond together which poses a potential safety risk. Disclosed is a switching blade suitable for use in an energy regulator in which the electrical contacts are connected and disconnected rapidly. Also described is an improvement to the construction of the switching blade whereby the movement of the blade may provide an impact or jolt to separate contacts which may have bonded together.

SWITCHGEAR

A switchgear includes a movable part capable of reciprocating movement in first and second directions, a movable contact coupled to the movable part and capable of reciprocating movement relative to the movable part, a biasing member that biases the movable contact, a latch part capable of switching between a first state in which movement of the movable contact in the first direction is restricted and a second state in which movement of the movable contact in the first direction is permitted, and a fixed contact provided on a side of the first direction with respect to the movable contact. When the movable part and the movable contact move in the first direction, after movement for a predetermined distance, the movement of the movable contact is restricted by the latch part in the first state, and then, when the movable part has moved further in the first direction, the latch part is switched to the second state.

INPUT APPARATUS

An input apparatus includes an operating member that receives an operating force, a casing holding the operating member so as to move in the vertical direction, a first switch and a second switch that switch between on-state and off-state as the operating member moves, a first magnetic substance attached to the casing, a second magnetic substance that moves together with the operating member, and a third magnetic substance disposed so as to come into contact with the first magnetic substance and the second magnetic substance when the operating member is not receiving an operating force and so as to come into contact with one of the first magnetic substance and the second magnetic substance when the operating member is receiving an operating force. At least one of the first magnetic substance, the second magnetic substance, and the third magnetic substance is a magnet.

Detent assembly

Various embodiments of a detent assembly are disclosed. The detent assembly includes a base having a major surface, a first magnetic region, and a second magnetic region, where the first and second magnetic regions are disposed on or within the major surface. Each of the first and second magnetic regions includes a magnetic polarity. The detent assembly further includes an actuator connected to the base, where the actuator includes a major surface and a magnetic region disposed on or within the major surface. The magnetic region of the actuator includes the same magnetic polarity as the magnetic polarity of the first and second magnetic regions of the base. The base and the actuator are adapted to move relative to each other. Further, the first and second magnetic regions of the base repel the magnetic region of the actuator to define detent positions between the base and the actuator.
