Cavity-backed spiral antenna with perturbation elements
Satellites require a suitable antenna for line of sight microwave communication with the ground. Disclosed here is an Archimedean spiral antenna backed by a copper cavity containing quadruple conical perturbations. The antenna meets the required size, mass, transmitting power, bandwidth, and circular polarization for a satellite (e.g., CubeSat) environment while providing immunity to the mounting position.

An antenna device according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a dielectric layer, a first radiator disposed on the dielectric layer in a first direction, a second radiator formed in a shape different from that of the first radiator and disposed on the dielectric layer in a second direction, a first transmission line which extends in the first direction to be connected to the first radiator, and a second transmission line which extends in the second direction to be connected to the second radiator, and intersects the first transmission line with being physically or electrically spaced apart therefrom.
WIRELESS CONTROL DEVICE HAVING AN ANTENNA ILLUMINATED WITH VISIBLE LIGHT
A wireless control device, such as a system controller for a load control system, may comprise a light-transmissive cover for an antenna that may be illuminated to provide feedback to a user of the load control system. The light-transmissive cover may receive light energy from a light-generating circuit to provide a visible display of the light energy. The wireless control device may be mounted to, for example, a ceiling, and the light-transmissive cover may extend from the wireless control device (e.g., down from the ceiling). The light-transmissive cover may be viewed by a user at large viewing angles and at a distance away from the wireless control device, which may simplify and improve reliability of commissioning of the load control system as well as speed up troubleshooting of the load control system after commissioning is completed.
AXIAL MODE HELICAL ANTENNA WITH IMPROVED/SIMPLIFIED PARALLEL OPEN WIRE IMPEDANCE MATCHING TECHNIQUE
A low-profile axial mode helical type antenna that employs hollow copper tubing for the radiating element, a singular semi hollow dielectric support structure, low pitch angle and an improved/simplified parallel open wire impedance matching technique. This antenna has a wide radiating pattern as well as high forward gain and circular polarization. It is designed to work in the field of live entertainment including reception and transmission of wireless microphones, in-ear monitors, communications and cue control systems. It operates from 470-663 MHz.
Spiral segment antenna
An antenna (100) for emitting radiation from at least one electromagnetic traveling wave which propagates along a guide path is designed to reduce reflection of the traveling wave likely to occur at the end of the guide path. To this purpose, the guide path has at least one portion in the form of a spiral segment (11, 12), which is connected to another portion of the guide path in the form of a loop (13). Gain in the antenna's reflection coefficient can be obtained in this manner, which is effective in particular near a lower frequency limit of a transmission band of the antenna.
Decoupled inner slot antenna
In the design of phased array antennas, as well as simple use of compact antennas, there is a strong interest to locate higher frequency antennas closer in spacing, and/or on the same surface, as the larger frequency antennas. What is needed is an array antenna technology, which can be conformal, and can interleave elements, as the frequency increases, to reduce array grating lobes. The desired solution would have much fewer required RF antenna ports, than the Tightly Coupled Dipole Antenna solutions. The optimal solution would also enable Dual or Diverse Polarization. This innovation embeds a wideband Slot Antenna, within the physical area of a larger electric dipole Antenna or Cross Dipole Antenna, with a De-Coupling gap around the Slot Ground Plane (or conductor) and isolates the Wideband Slot Antenna (the inner antenna) from the Dipole or Monopole antenna leg(s) (the Outer Antenna). Both (Inner and Outer) antennas have independent feeds and independent transmission line(s). Two key innovations are the use of a De-Coupling gap, and the use of the patent pending innovation “Compact Single Pole Wideband Slot Antenna Design with Inverted Co-Planar Waveguide Feed”. Both the Inner Slot Antenna and its CPW feed are independent and isolated from the Outer Antenna and its feed and transmission line. This structure, which could have a multiplicity of inner Slot Antennas with numerous RF ports, is very different from the slot or parasitic inner structure within a single port antenna system.
CORRUGATED GROUND PLANE APPARATUS FOR AN ANTENNA
An antenna comprises an axial helical radiating element and a corrugated ground plane. The axial helical radiating element provides a radiation pattern substantially parallel to a primary axis of rotation of the helical radiating element. The corrugated ground plane, disposed proximate to a back region of the antenna, comprises corrugations to increase an electrical length of travel for radial standing waves between an axial helical input, at which the axial helical radiating element is coupled to the corrugated ground plane, to an outer edge of the corrugated ground plane.
Filar antenna element devices and methods
Single band and multiband wireless antennas are an important element of wireless systems. Competing tradeoffs of overall footprint, performance aspects such as impedance matching and cost require not only consideration but become significant when multiple antenna elements are employed within a single antenna such as to obtain circular polarization transmit and/or receive. Accordingly, it would be beneficial to provide designers of a wide range of electrical devices and systems with compact single or multiple frequency band antennas which, in addition to providing the controlled radiation pattern and circular polarization purity (where required) are impedance matched without substantially increasing the footprint of the antenna and/or the complexity of the microwave/RF circuit interfaced to them, whilst supporting multiple signals to/from multiple antenna elements in antennas employing them. Solutions present achieve this through provisioning one or more capacitive series reactances discretely or in combination with one or more shunt capacitive reactances.
ANTENNA CONNECTION FOR INTEGRATED RFID TAG AND TPMS SENSOR
An integrated radio frequency identification tag and tire pressure monitoring system sensor includes a radio frequency identification tag. The radio frequency identification tag includes an integrated circuit, and a printed circuit board carries the integrated circuit. A tire pressure monitoring system sensor is mounted on the radio frequency identification tag. An antenna includes at least one coil antenna wire. The antenna wire is formed in a helical shape and is electrically connected to the integrated circuit. A first end of the antenna wire is mounted to the printed circuit board. A mechanical interlock between the first end of the antenna wire and the printed circuit board includes features that secure the first end of the antenna wire to the printed circuit board.
