There are provided high power laser systems for performing decommissioning of structures in land based boreholes, and wells, offshore, and other remote and hazardous locations, and using those system to perform decommissioning operations. In particular embodiments the laser system is a Class I system and reduces emission of materials created during laser cutting operations. The laser systems can include lifting and removal equipment for removing laser sectioned material.

A solid state laser module for amplification of laser radiation including a laser gain medium disk. The disk has a pair of generally parallel surfaces that receive, reflect, or transmit laser radiation. At least one perimetral optical medium is disposed adjacent a peripheral edge of the laser gain medium disk and in optical communication therewith. A source of optical pump radiation directs optical pump radiation through the perimetral optical medium and into the laser gain medium disk to pump the laser gain medium to produce optical gain at the laser wavelength. A dichroic beam splitter is located between the optical pump source and the perimetral optical medium to prevent amplified spontaneous emission generated within the laser gain medium from illuminating the source of optical pump radiation.

Some embodiments may include a fiber laser system comprising: a pump combiner; a plurality of fiber laser pump modules arranged for pumping a pulsed output from the fiber laser system; and a pump controller to operate in a first operation mode to pump a pulsed output from the fiber laser system and to operate in a second different operation mode to pump a continuous wave (CW) output from the fiber laser system; the pump controller to, in the first operation mode, simultaneously activate individual fiber laser pump modules of the plurality of fiber laser pump modules; and the pump controller to, in the second operation mode, sequentially activate the individual fiber laser pump modules of the plurality of fiber laser pump modules. Laser systems and optical devices for manipulating laser beams

Various embodiments of a multi-laser system are disclosed. In some embodiments, the multi-laser system includes a plurality of lasers, a plurality of laser beams, a beam positioning system, a thermally stable enclosure, and a temperature controller. The thermally stable enclosure is substantially made of a material with high thermal conductivity such as at least 5 W/(m K). The thermally stable enclosure can help maintain alignment of the laser beams to a target object over a range of ambient temperatures. Various embodiments of an optical system for directing light for optical measurements such laser-induced fluorescence and spectroscopic analysis are disclosed. In some embodiments, the optical system includes a thermally conductive housing and a thermoelectric controller, a plurality of optical fibers, and one or more optical elements to direct light emitted by the optical fibers to illuminate a flow cell. The housing is configured to attach to a flow cell.

A system, device, and method for laser cooling rare earth doped silica glass using anti-Stokes fluorescence is disclosed. The system includes a rare earth doped and codoped with one or more codopants silica glass; a laser that provides radiation to a first surface and through a body of the rare earth doped silica glass, wherein the laser is tuned from a first wavelength to a second wavelength; and a thermally sensitive device that captures images of the rare earth doped silica glass as the laser is tuned and determines a third wavelength between the first wavelength and the second wavelength where the rare earth doped silica glass is maximumly or near maximumly cooled.

Methods and systems for aligning master oscillator power amplifier systems

The present disclosure provides a method for aligning a master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) system. The method includes ramping up a pumping power input into a laser amplifier chain of the MOPA system until the pumping power input reaches an operational pumping power input level; adjusting a seed laser power output of a seed laser of the MOPA system until the seed laser power output is at a first level below an operational seed laser power output level; and performing a first optical alignment process to the MOPA system while the pumping power input is at the operational pumping power input level, the seed laser power output is at the first level, and the MOPA system reaches a steady operational thermal state.
