Motor-driven hand tool for cutting cable cladding
10978860 · 2021-04-13 ·

The present invention is a portable hand tool for cutting the metal cladding of an electrical cable. The basic structure of the tool is a spring-loaded clamp comprising two opposing jaws which are biased toward closure by a torsion spring-loaded hinge mechanism. The upper jaw contains a rotating circular saw blade driven by a battery-powered electric motor, while the lower jaw contains a channel into which the cable is inserted. Application of manual pressure to the handle extensions of the two jaws has the dual effect of separating the jaws, so that the blade is raised away from contact with the cable cladding, and cutting off power to the motor, thereby stopping the blade rotation. With the blade raised and motionless, the operator can safely replace or re-position the cable in the lower jaw.

ARMORED CABLE STRIPPING TOOL FOR CUTTING THE ARMOR IN TWO PLACES

A stripping tool for cutting the armor sheathing of a cable. The stripping tool includes a cable receiving handle and a saw handle movably mounted to the cable receiving handle. A saw assembly, including at least one saw blade, is supported by the saw handle and moveable relative to the cable receiving handle. The saw assembly configured to simultaneously cut the armor sheathing of the cable in two places.

A cable stripping tool used for stripping an outer layer of a cable includes a first plier, a second plier, a cable receiving hole, a blade, a first clamping area, and a second clamping area. The second plier is pivotally connected to the first plier by a rotating shaft. The cable receiving hole is disposed on the second plier for receiving the cable. The blade is disposed on the first plier and opposite to the cable receiving hole. The first clamping area and the second clamping area are disposed on the first plier, and the blade is disposed between the first clamping area and the second clamping area; the cable receiving hole, the first clamping area and the second clamping area together clamp the cable such that the blade is able to cut the outer layer of the cable.

Rollable ribbon separator

A rollable ribbon separator tool for separating fibers in a rollable ribbon, the rollable ribbon separator including a chassis having a length and a guide surface along the chassis length for receiving a first portion of a rollable ribbon in a flattened position, the guide surface for positioning the first portion of the rollable ribbon having a first node with selected fibers to be separated, the selected fibers being positioned flat on the guide surface. The rollable ribbon separator includes a blade securable to the chassis, the blade having a cutting edge positioned toward the guide surface at an acute angle to the guide surface. The angle of the blade cutting edge with respect to the guide surface allows the cutting edge to urge the first portion of the flattened ribbon fibers against the guide surface when the fibers are drawn through the chassis along the guide surface.

TOOL FOR FORMING AN OPENING IN A JACKET OF A MULTI-FIBER CABLE CONFIGURED TO PROVIDE ENHANCED CUTTING MEMBER PROTECTION
20240069283 · 2024-02-29 ·

A tool for forming a window in a jacket of a cable includes a body portion having a first end, a second end opposite the first end, an exterior surface, a cable receiving portion extending from the first end to the second end, and an opening. The cable receiving portion may receive a cable having a jacket. A lower surface of the cable receiving portion may be curved in a region proximate to the opening in order to urge at least a portion of the jacket to extend beyond the exterior surface at the opening. The exterior surface and a guide member proximate to the opening are configured to allow a blade to slide across the opening to remove a portion of the jacket thereby providing access to a fiber or wire disposed within the jacket.

Cable stripping tool

The present invention discloses a cable stripping tool, which is used for stripping an outer surface of a cable. The cable stripping tool includes a first main body element and a second main body element corresponding to each other. The first main body element has a longitudinal axis, and includes a first cable containing groove, a first handling portion and a first pivoting portion. The first cable containing groove is disposed along the longitudinal axis. The first handling portion extends from a side wall of the first main body element, with the side wall opposite to the first cable containing groove. The first pivoting portion is located on a side surface of the first main body element. The second main body element includes a second cable containing groove, a second handling portion, and a second pivoting portion, and the second pivoting portion pivots to the first pivoting portion.

A fiber cable may be neatly and efficiently cut if the razor edge is held in a fixed position while the cable is pulled along a cutting channel. The cable may be first cut to remove the outer layer prior to cutting further layers. One example may have a double cable splitting device with two sets of channels that include razors in each of the channels which locks in to position to secure the cable and razor against the cable during a cutting procedure.

Powered cable splitter

The invention is directed to a powered cable splitter. The splitter is comprised of a motor, a blade, a channel, a clamp to secure the tubing within the channel, and a hand grip for activating the motor. To use the splitter, a user places the cable inside of the channel, secures it with the clamp, and then squeezes the hand grip to activate the motor. The motor causes the blade to spin and cut to a specific depth. Rollers within the channel allow the cable to be moved into position before the tubing is cut, creating a cut of limited depth along a preferred length, and thus splitting the cable without damaging the wires within.
