Variable and centrifugal flywheel and centrifugal clutch
A flywheel is attached to a shaft of a turbine. As the shaft rotates, the flywheel swings outwards away from the shaft and regulates the angular velocity of the rotating shaft. In an embodiment, there are multiple flywheels attached to the shaft. In another embodiment there is a first flywheel that controls a second flywheel. In another embodiment, the flywheel has adjustable or centrifugal displacement of counterbalanced masses for effective rotational diameter with effective rotational balance. In another embodiment, a small pilot centrifugal displacement flywheel may control a clutch by rotational velocity and may include a hysteresis control. An example of a clutch may limit that degree to which the arms of the flywheel may be extended and/or retracted. In another embodiment, a small pilot centrifugal displacement flywheel controls the hysteresis of a centrifugal flywheel displacement.
Systems and methods for providing enhanced mechanical/electrical energy storage
A power apparatus, power assembly, energy assembly or energy apparatus that stores and disperses energy, the power assembly including: (1) a first and second energy object that experiences movement so as to store kinetic energy in the energy object, the energy object including a magnet assembly through which electrons are driven resulting in electric output from the magnet assembly, and the electric output dependent on experienced EMF (electro-motive force) that is experienced by the magnet assembly. The power assembly can include a switch assembly adapted to perform switching to switch between a first arrangement in which the first positive output is connected to the second positive output, and a second arrangement in which the first positive output is connected to the first negative output, and such second arrangement provides increased energy output relative to the first arrangement. A flip assembly can be provided that performs flipping of output energy.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATED TUNING/CONFIGURING OF A POWER SYSTEM STABILIZER (PSS) IN A DIGITAL EXCITATION CONTROL SYSTEM
A system and method for automatically tuning/configuring a power system stabilizer (PSS) in a power system digital excitation control system having an automatic voltage regulator (AVR) that includes providing a control input to the AVR as a function of generating a set of tuning PSS lead-lag phase compensation time constants as a function of received generated terminal voltages, generating an uncompensated frequency response as a function of the received set of generated terminal voltages and using particle swarm optimization (PSO) as a function of the generated uncompensated frequency response, generating a tuning PSS gain value as a function of a determined open loop frequency response of the power system, determining a PSS gain margin, determining a tuning PSS gain; and transmitting the determined set of tuning phase compensation time constants and the determined tuning PSS gain value to the control interface of the PSS.
THREE-DIMENSIONAL (3D) FLOW FLOATING POWER GENERATOR
A floating electrical power generator having a three-dimensional (3D) flow passageway configured for increasing the water flow on the paddle wheel to increase the power output.
Apparatus and method for mechanically providing power to a generator on a continuous rotatable rotor of an X-ray scanner
A system including an x-ray scanner gantry having: a housing; a gantry gear; a rotor; a generator mounted on the rotor; and first and second generator gears connected to or engaged with one or more axles of the generator. The second generator gear is engaged with the gantry gear. A motor rotates the intermediate gear via a motor gear. A second actuator actuates the motor gear to engage the motor with the rotor. A control module operates in first and second modes and: while in the first mode, engages the intermediate gear to the first generator gear via the first actuator to rotate, via the motor gear, the intermediate gear and as a result the first generator gear; and while in the second mode, engage the motor to the rotor via the second actuator to rotate, via the motor gear, the rotor and as a result the second generator gear.

Adaptive linear linked piston electric power generator
A load adaptive linear electrical generator system is provided for generating DC electrical power. The electrical generation system includes one or more power generation modules which will be selectively turned on or off and additively contribute power depending on the DC power demand. Each power generating module includes a pair of linear electrical generators connected to respective ones of a pair of internal combustion piston based power assemblies. The piston in the internal combustion assembly is connected to a magnet in the linear electrical generator. The piston/magnet assembly oscillates in a simple harmonic motion at a frequency dependent on a power load of the electrical generator. A stroke limiter constrains the piston/magnet assembly motion to preset limits.

Rotor synchronization of cross-compound systems on turning gear
A method of synchronizing a cross-compound generator system on one or more turning gears during startup includes determining, via a notch monitor controller, first and second angular velocities, respectively, of a first and a second rotor. The method also includes simultaneously exciting, via the notch monitor controller, the first and second rotors to attain electromechanical coupling therebetween. The method further includes determining, via the notch monitor controller, a value of a time at which a calibration value of an offset is a constant value, where the offset is representative of a phase alignment of the first rotor relative to the second rotor, and where the offset is indicative of a successful electromechanical coupling therebetween. The method also includes disengaging the one or more turning gears from the cross-compound generator system.
