Method for operating a network
A method operates a network, wherein multiple clients are connected to a server for accessing an application that is provided or running on the server. The application is tunneled within one or more corresponding flows between the clients and the server. A device for per flow scheduling of the flows prioritizes the flows based on at least one of application characteristics, application requirements, flow characteristics or flow requirements. The prioritizing by the device takes into consideration a change or a variation, over time, of at least one of an application characteristic, an application requirement, a flow characteristic or a flow requirement.
METHOD AND USER EQUIPMENT FOR BLOCKING NETWORK ACCESS BY ACDC
A disclosure of the present specification provides a method for blocking network access. The method may comprise the steps of: receiving application specific congestion control for data communication (ACDC) blocking information; driving a blocking timer when it is determined by an ACDC blocking check that a network access attempt by a first application being executed is blocked; determining the category of a second application being executed according to a network access attempt by the second application; performing an ACDC blocking check on the basis of the determined category of the second application and the received ACDC blocking information when the determined category of the second application has a higher priority than the category of the first application; and stopping the blocking timer when the network access attempt by the second application should be permitted according to the ACDC blocking check.
Method and system for controlling an operation of an application by classifying an application type using data bearer characteristics
An application type of a bearer is classified by computing statistics vectors of bearer metrics and locating points on a label map corresponding to the statistics vectors to obtain application type information. The application type information is exported to a network node to control an operation of application. The bearer metrics include bearer identifier information and bearer condition information, where the bearer condition information includes channel condition information and cell congestion level information. The bearers are paired, such that uplink and downlink bearers for a same application are identified, so that paired bearers are classified together. The label map is produced using previously classified bearer information to calculate cluster centroids and cluster regions that define portions of the map for particular application types. The bearer is classified by determining which cluster region is closest to points on the label map that are associated with the statistics vectors for a particular bearer.
Mobile device with virtual interfaces
Mobile devices, systems and methods are described with a plurality of virtual machines, wherein each virtual machine executes a separate virtual interface, or guest operating system. Each guest operating system corresponds to a different virtual device having its own contact list, applications, and so on. A virtual “device” can be controlled by an employer or service provider, and is a secure space that provides authenticated applications that are walled off from another virtual device. A host operating system provides a hardware abstraction layer. A proxy server on the host operating system receives an incoming signal from a remote device on the external network, and routes the incoming signal to one of the first and second virtual machines based on a call context. A method and computer program product for providing a plurality of virtual interfaces on a mobile device are also disclosed.
Transmission device and transmission method
A transmission device includes: a first counter; a counter control unit configured to increment the first counter at a specified rate; a frame buffer configured to store a received frame; and a buffer control unit configured to read a frame from the frame buffer when a value of the first counter is larger than a specified threshold and output the frame. When a length of an output frame read from the frame buffer by the buffer control unit is shorter than a specified reference frame length, the counter control unit decrements the first counter by a value indicating the reference frame length. When the length of the output frame is longer than or equal to the reference frame length, the counter control unit decrements the first counter by a value indicating the length of the output frame.
NETWORK FLOW CONTROL
Aspects of the present disclosure include a content delivery network (CDN) for delivering content associated with a plurality of different types of applications/devices. Using a CDN flow application, a plurality of network flow parameters are generated for content delivery unique to different types of applications or devices. The network flow parameters include customized data transmission rates. The network flow parameters include predetermined settings for transmission control protocol (TCP) connections between the CDN and devices using a TCP flow control mechanism. Upon receiving a content request, the CDN fulfills the content request based upon first network flow parameters. The network flow parameters may be adjusted for each of the plurality of different types of applications/devices. The network flow parameters may be generated based upon requests or based upon the performance of each of the plurality of applications/devices.
Provisioning of application categories at a user equipment during network congestion
Technology for provisioning categories of applications on a mobile device is disclosed. A wireless network element can communicate Application Specific Congestion Control for Data Communications (ACDC)/Application and Service Access Control (ASAC) information to the mobile device. The ACDC/ASAC information can include a preconfigured list of application categories. Each application category can include a set of applications that are allowed to access a wireless network from the mobile device during at least one defined condition level. The wireless network element can activate ACDC/ASAC for one or more condition levels while a capacity threshold of the wireless network is exceeded. The wireless network element can allow a set of applications for a selected application category to communicate with the wireless network when the ACDC/ASAC is activated based on the one or more condition levels for the selected application category.
Wireless communication apparatus, wireless station apparatus and wireless communication method
A wireless communication apparatus which communicates with at least one wireless station apparatus by utilizing EDCA mechanism includes the following elements. A first channel state determining unit determines a usage state of a communication channel used between the wireless communication apparatus and the wireless station apparatus in a contention period of the communication channel. A first terminal occupation time calculating unit calculates, on the basis of the usage state, a different-terminal occupation time in the contention period of the communication channel. A first traffic measuring unit measures an amount of data received from the wireless station apparatus in the different-terminal occupation time. A first parameter adjusting unit adjusts an EDCA parameter set used in the EDCA mechanism, on the basis of the different-terminal occupation time and the amount of received data. A parameter updating unit updates the EDCA parameter set to an adjusted EDCA parameter set.
Efficient policy enforcement using network tokens for services C-plane approach
A device establishes flows associated with one or more applications using control plane signaling. A gateway device obtains a request for a network token during the control plane signaling. The gateway device derives the network token and sends it to the device and/or an access node during the control plane signaling. The device and/or access node obtain the network token, where the network token is associated with a first flow of the one or more flows, a first application of the one or more applications, and provisioned to the device or access node via the control plane signaling. The network token may be included in a packet sent in the user plane from the device. The network token may be verified at the access node and/or the gateway device using a cryptographic function and sent to its destination based on the results of the verification.
METHOD AND APPRATUS FOR CONTROLLING NETWORK TRAFFIC
A method for managing a network traffic of a radio access network, the method comprising steps of identifying, by a processor of a baseband unit (BBU), at least one characteristic of a data traffic received from at least one user equipment, and determining, by the processor, whether to process locally at an edge node or at a remote service network in response to the at least one characteristic of the data traffic received from the user equipment.
