Arrangement and method for dynamic quota allocation in communication network
Electronic arrangement for dynamically reserving quota having regard to the capacity of one or more resources available in a communications network, comprises one or more data interfaces such as transceivers for transferring data, at least one processor for processing instructions and other data, and memory for storing the instructions and other data, said at least one processor being configured, in accordance with the stored instructions, to cause: receiving a quota request with indication of a requested extent of quota, wherein the quota request is further associated with all-or-none preference indicator as to whether the request should be fulfilled completely, obtaining an indication of a currently remaining, unused and unreserved, quota of an account associated with the quota request, determining whether and to which degree, including in full, in part and not at all, the request may be granted in terms of reserving the requested quota based on at least the requested extent, the remaining quota and the preference indicator, wherein the indicator is utilized in the determination so that indicated preference on complete fulfillment of quota request translates into reduced criterion in quota allocation and vice versa, and providing a response to the quota request indicative of extent of granted, reserved quota, if any, where the response optionally refers to a signaling message. A corresponding method for reserving quota is presented.
MANAGING BANDWIDTH IN MOBILE TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORKS
In one embodiment, in accordance with the present invention, a method, computer program product, and system for managing and redistributing unused bandwidth between devices connected to a mobile telecommunications network is provided. One or more computer processors determine a predicted amount of data to be used by a mobile device. The one or more computer processors determine a surplus of allocated data based on whether the predicted amount of data is less than an allocated amount of data. The one or more computer processors, upon determining that there is a surplus of allocated data, move the surplus of allocated data to a data pool to be used by one or more additional mobile devices.
Increased network resources in exchange for sharing of device resources
An indicator can be received from a client device. The indicator can indicate an agreement by a user of the client device to share device resources of the client device with an entity distinct from the client device and distinct from the user of the client device. Responsive to receiving from the mobile device the indicator indicating the agreement of the user of the of the mobile device to share the device resources of the mobile device with the entity, a level of a quality of service provided by a communication network to the mobile device can be increased. The mobile device can be allowed to enter sleep mode only after a particular duration of time in which use of the device resources has been shared or when a charge level of a battery providing power to the mobile device falls below a threshold level.

Further, the system may restrict data usage of devices to data usage that can be allocated to particular accounts based on purpose, source, destination or other.
