MONITORING POSITION AND ORIENTATION OF A PROJECTOR
A projection system includes an illumination light source configured to emit an illumination light beam, a monitor light source configured to emit a monitor light beam, and a projector configured to project both the illumination light beam and the monitor light beam into a projected combined light beam. A first portion of the projected combined light beam is propagated over a first beam path in a first direction, causing an eye of a user to see a display image. A second portion of the projected combined light beam is propagated over a second beam path in a second direction, causing a monitor camera to capture a monitor image. The monitor image is analyzed to determine an orientation or a position of the monitor image. In response to determining that the monitor image is not properly oriented or positioned, an orientation or position of the projector or the illumination image is adjusted.
CALIBRATION OF STEREOSCOPIC DISPLAY USING WAVEGUIDE COMBINER
Examples are disclosed that relate to calibration of a stereoscopic display system of an HMD via an optical calibration system comprising a waveguide combiner. One example provides an HMD device comprising a first image projector and a second image projector configured to project a stereoscopic image pair, and an optical calibration system. The optical calibration system comprises a first optical path indicative of an alignment of the first image projector, a second optical path indicative of an alignment of the second image projector, a waveguide combiner in which the first and second optical paths combine into a shared optical path, and one or more boresight sensors configured to detect calibration image light traveling along one or more of the first optical or the second optical path.
CALIBRATION OF STEREOSCOPIC DISPLAY USING WAVEGUIDE COMBINER
Examples are disclosed that relate to calibration of a stereoscopic display system of an HMD via an optical calibration system comprising a waveguide combiner. One example provides an HMD device comprising a first image projector and a second image projector configured to project a stereoscopic image pair, and an optical calibration system. The optical calibration system comprises a first optical path indicative of an alignment of the first image projector, a second optical path indicative of an alignment of the second image projector, a waveguide combiner in which the first and second optical paths combine into a shared optical path, and one or more boresight sensors configured to detect calibration image light traveling along one or more of the first optical or the second optical path.
Virtual and augmented reality systems and methods
A method for displaying virtual content to a user, the method includes determining an accommodation of the user's eyes. The method also includes delivering, through a first waveguide of a stack of waveguides, light rays having a first wavefront curvature based at least in part on the determined accommodation, wherein the first wavefront curvature corresponds to a focal distance of the determined accommodation. The method further includes delivering, through a second waveguide of the stack of waveguides, light rays having a second wavefront curvature, the second wavefront curvature associated with a predetermined margin of the focal distance of the determined accommodation.
Virtual and augmented reality systems and methods
A method for displaying virtual content to a user, the method includes determining an accommodation of the user's eyes. The method also includes delivering, through a first waveguide of a stack of waveguides, light rays having a first wavefront curvature based at least in part on the determined accommodation, wherein the first wavefront curvature corresponds to a focal distance of the determined accommodation. The method further includes delivering, through a second waveguide of the stack of waveguides, light rays having a second wavefront curvature, the second wavefront curvature associated with a predetermined margin of the focal distance of the determined accommodation.
HEAD-UP DISPLAY SYSTEM AND MOVING BODY
A head-up display system includes a first projection module, a second projection module, and a first reflective optical element. The first projection module projects a first image. The second projection module projects a second image. The first reflective optical element reflects at least a part of the first image and at least a part of the second image. The first projection module includes a first display panel that displays the first image and projects the first image toward the first reflective optical element. The second projection module includes a second display panel that displays the second image, and an optical system that directs the second image toward the first reflective optical element.

The method includes: obtaining a recommended viewport box of the immersive media file, the recommended viewport box being used for defining switching information of a viewpoint and switching information of a recommended viewport of the immersive media file; determining a destination viewpoint and a destination recommended viewport according to the switching information of a current viewpoint and the switching information of a current recommended viewport; and switching to the destination viewpoint and the destination recommended viewport, to present the immersive media file.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETERMINING DIRECTIONALITY OF IMAGERY USING HEAD TRACKING
There is provided a system and method for reinstating directionality of onscreen displays of three-dimensional (3D) imagery using sensor data capturing eye location of a user. The method can include: receiving the sensor data capturing the eye location of the user; tracking the location of the eyes of the user relative to a screen using the captured sensor data; determining an updated rendering of the onscreen imagery using off-axis projective geometry based on the tracked location of the eyes of the user to simulate an angled viewpoint of the onscreen imagery from the perspective of the location of the user; and outputting the updated rendering of the onscreen imagery on a display screen.
