DISPLAY APPARATUS, USER TERMINAL APPARATUS, SYSTEM, AND CONTROLLING METHOD THEREOF
A display apparatus is disclosed. The display apparatus includes a communicator configured to communicate with an access point (AP), a storage, a display, an image processor, and a processor configured to, in a sleep mode, in response to a first signal being received via the AP from an external device accessing the AP, switch from the sleep mode to an standby mode and transmit a response signal with respect to the first signal to the external device, and to store content received from the external device in the storage while the display is turned-off, wherein the processor, in response to a second signal further being received from the external device, activates the image processor to process the content stored in the storage and activates the display to display the processed content.
Method and apparatus for synchronizing paused playback across platforms
A media server receives a first request to transmit the media program to the first device and streams the media program to the first device. The method monitors the streaming of the media program to the first device to generate media program streaming information and transmits the media program streaming information to a media program provider. A second request is received to resume transmission of the media program from a second device where the request includes a temporal location within the media program that was received from the media program provider. The media program provider determined the temporal location from the streaming information transmitted from the media server to the media program provider. The media server resumes transmission of the media program to the second device from the temporal location received from the media program provider.
Content synchronization between proximate display devices
Techniques for handing off media content between proximate display devices are provided. Based on a first media player device currently playing media content from a remote media server receiving a request to hand off the media content to a proximate second media player device, the first media player device may send a handoff token to a second media player device to enable the second media player device to play the media content from the remote media server. The handoff token may include an indication of the media content, an indication of a point within a stream of the media content, and/or credentials associated with the user of the first media player device. The second media player device may send the handoff token to the remote media server, which may send the media content to the second media player device based on verifying the information provided in the handoff token.
DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND PROCESSES FOR FACILITATING SEAMLESS USE OF TUNERS ACROSS MULTIPLE DEVICES WITHIN A LOCAL AREA NETWORK
Devices, systems, and processes for facilitating seamless use of tuners across multiple devices within a LAN are described and may include use of a first user device, communicatively coupled to the LAN, that includes a first hardware processor configured to execute first, non-transient, computer instructions for facilitating a first seamless tuner engine configured to identify at least one first tuner. A second user device, communicatively coupled to the LAN, may include a second hardware processor configured to execute second, non-transient, computer instructions for facilitating a second seamless tuner configured to identify at least one second tuner. At least one of, if not each, of seamless tuner engines may be configured to generate a universal tuner directory identifying availability of each the tuners. The universal tuner directory may be populated and tuners allocated based upon an emergency broadcast, auto-tune, PPV, original content, re-run, or Joey request type.
Methods and apparatus for initiating a playback pause operation on one device and resuming playback on another playback device
Methods and apparatus that support implementing a pause, e.g., of a broadcast, on a device, recording the paused program and resuming playback of the paused program on a device associated with a user's account, are described. The pause function allows a user to pause a broadcast on a device and initiate recording of the paused program, e.g., to network storage. The pause initiating device displays a pause indicator indicating that the program output has been paused. A user logging into the user's account from a device other than the device from which the pause was initiated is presented an opportunity to resume the paused playback. Playback is resumed from the pause point on the playback device from which a resume signal is received. Upon resumption of playback on a device other than the device from which the pause was initiated, the pause indicator on the pause initiating device is removed.
Content synchronization between display devices
Techniques for handing off media content between proximate display devices are provided. Based on a first media player device currently playing media content from a remote media server receiving a request to hand off the media content to a proximate second media player device, the first media player device may send a handoff token to a second media player device to enable the second media player device to play the media content from the remote media server. The handoff token may include an indication of the media content, an indication of a point within a stream of the media content, and/or credentials associated with the user of the first media player device. The second media player device may send the handoff token to the remote media server, which may send the media content to the second media player device based on verifying the information provided in the handoff token.
METHODS, SYSTEMS, AND MEDIA FOR PROVIDING DYNAMIC MEDIA SESSIONS
Methods, systems, and media for providing dynamic media sessions are provided. In some embodiments, the method comprises: transmitting, from a leader device to follower devices that each belong to a group of media playback devices in a group media playback session, control instructions that cause a media content item to be synchronously presented with the leader device and the follower devices in the group of media playback devices; during the synchronous presentation of the media content item, receiving an indication to halt presentation of the media content item by the leader device; in response to receiving the indication and in response to determining that the leader device is to remain the leader device of the group of media playback devices, halting the presentation of the media content item on the leader device while continuing to transmit updated control instructions that cause the media content item in the group media playback session to continue being synchronously presented on the follower devices remaining in the group of media playback devices.
Playback resume between mobile entertainment system and set-top box
A set-top box receives media information including media identification and position information from a portable device in wireless communication with a mobile entertainment system. The media information is parsed, using a local or an internet based search, to locate the media information including the media identification and position information that matches a broadcast program or recorded media content from a network accessible to the mobile entertainment system. Upon locating the media information that matches the broadcast program or recorded media content, the matching broadcast program or recorded media content is downloaded and played on at least one of a display device or an audio receiver accessible to the set-top box or the headend of the IP, cable or satellite network.
Devices, systems and processes for multi-device access, control and presentation of streaming content
Devices, systems and processes for multi-device access, control and presentation of streaming content are described. A system may include a first content access device that includes a first storage component, a first communications component operable to receive first content, and a first hardware processor operable to access a second content access device, control the second content access device, provide a first content to the second content access device, and swap a presentation of the second content on the second presentation device with a presentation of the first content on the second presentation device. A first presentation device may present the first content. A second presentation device may present the second content. Second storage, communications, and hardware processor components are operable to execute the second set of computer instructions that are substantially similar to the first set of computer instructions may be used.
