Systems and methods for recording media assets
11606600 · 2023-03-14 · ·

Systems and methods are provided to record portions of media assets. User request is received to record a media asset together with a criterion for recording portions of that media asset. A content recognition algorithm is executed against segments of the media asset to determine a set of keywords associated with those segments. Separately a set of keywords associated with the criterion is generated. Sets of keywords are compared and segments that match the criterion are discovered. If it is determined that a first segment and third segment each match the criterion and a second segment does not, a delete indicator is added to the second segment and the third and first segments are compared. If those segments match the delete indicator is removed from the second segment.

Menu navigation mode for media discs

Systems and methods are provided for reordering and/or bypassing certain informational content or menus that are conventionally presented prior to playback of media content stored on physical media discs. Upon initial use of a physical media disc, certain information content or menus may be presented to a user or viewer, for example, piracy warnings, language selection menus, etc. However, upon subsequent use of the physical media disc, such informational content or menus may be bypassed. The user or viewer is given an option to immediately begin consuming the media content stored on the physical media disc. Conventional content, such as trailers are not played prior to playback of the media content.

Rendering image content as time-spaced frames

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including a media player and computer-readable mediums, are described for rendering media content at a frame rate that is safe to a user. A system, or its media player, obtains media content that includes video content having multiple frames. The system determines a frame rate representing a rate for sequentially displaying the frames to the user when the media player plays the media content. Image content of each frame is scanned and data describing different photosensitivity thresholds is obtained. Based on a photosensitivity of the user, the system determines that one or more frames in a portion of the media content include image content that is unsafe to the user when the media player plays the media content. The system selectively decreases a frame playback rate for the portion of the media content as a function of an input value that is selectable by the user.

Electronic device and operation method thereof

Provided are an electronic device and an operation method thereof. The electronic device includes a memory that stores one or more instructions, and a processor that executes the one or more instructions stored in the memory, wherein the processor is configured to execute the one or more instructions to: divide original image data into a plurality of image sequences; determine a predetermined number of image sequences among the plurality of image sequences as an input image group, select one of the image sequences included in the input image group and add the selected image sequence to the highlight image group based on one or more image sequences pre-classified as a highlight image group, by using a trained model trained using an artificial intelligence algorithm; and generate summary image data extracted from the original image data, by using the image sequence included in the highlight image group.

Methods and systems for condition mitigation

Methods and systems are described for condition mitigation. A computing device may display content. The computing device may determine that displaying and/or outputting the content may impact a person with a condition. The computing device may take an action to reduce an impact of the content on the person.

Customized 360-degree media viewing

A device may be configured to render at least one spatial region of 360-degree media content, which may include two or more spatial regions. The device may include a receiver configured to receive the 360-degree media content and metadata associated with the 360-degree content. The metadata may include a classification of a respective spatial region of the 360-degree media content. The device may further include a memory configured to store a user preference and a sensor configured to detect a user movement. The device may include a processor configured to determine that the user movement is associated with a rendering of the respective spatial region. The processor may further determine whether the classification complies with the user preference and alter the rendering of the respective spatial region if the classification violates the user preference.

TRANSMITTING CONTENT BASED ON GENRE INFORMATION
20220321972 · 2022-10-06 ·

Systems and methods for transmitting content based on genre information is disclosed. A manifest of a content item is received. The manifest identifies a plurality of segments of the content item. For each segment, the manifest comprises a respective network address and a respective genre. In response to a selection of a first genre, the manifest is parsed to identify that a first segment of the plurality of segments is associated with the first genre and a second segment that follows the first segment in the plurality of segments is associated with a second genre, wherein the second genre is different from the first genre. Data for the first segment is requested from a first network address associated with the first segment and requesting of data for the second segment is skipped. The first segment is displayed based on the data requested from the first network address.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OVERRIDING CROWD-SOURCED AUTO-SKIP COMMANDS BASED ON USER ACTIVITY
20170366859 · 2017-12-21 ·

Systems and methods are provided herein for automatically overriding an auto-skip command embedded in a media asset annotation when a user profile indicates a preference for content that is to be auto-skipped. To this end, a media guidance application may play back a media asset to a user, and detect therein a skip annotation that corresponds to a portion of the media asset that is to be played back. The media guidance application may, in response to detecting the skip annotation, access metadata indicating content of the portion, compare the metadata to entries of a profile of the user, and determine whether the user prefers the content based on the comparing. If the user prefers the content, the media guidance application may refrain from executing a skip command indicated by the skip annotation.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR APPLYING BEHAVIORAL-BASED PARENTAL CONTROLS FOR MEDIA ASSETS

Systems and methods are disclosed herein for applying behavioral-based parental controls for media assets. The disclosed techniques herein discuss determining a media asset viewed by a user and character actions of a character within the media asset. Behavioral user data is received which includes a user action. A determination is made whether the user action matches one of the character actions. If a match is found, a parental control restriction setting for the media asset is applied and this parental control restriction is stored in memory.

Systems and methods are herein disclosed for displaying a smart preview of video content. A first claimed embodiment includes receiving video content. A system can then detect an event taking place during the video content having an event time. The system can then receive a request to display a preview of the video content. The system can then display the preview of the video content beginning at the event time.
