Separately providing a shift register for performing serial-to-parallel conversion on a BD signal and a shift register for performing parallel-to-serial conversion on a bit pattern to generate a PWM signal increases the scale of a circuit for adjusting a writing start position in the scanning direction of a light beam. Therefore, the shift register for performing serial-to-parallel conversion on a BD signal and the shift register for performing parallel-to-serial conversion on a bit pattern to generate a PWM signal are configured as a common register.

The first image data includes a first part corresponding to a manuscript and a second part corresponding to a non-manuscript. The generating unit generates second image data by processing the second part. An image reading apparatus of an embodiment includes a reading unit and a controller. The reading unit simultaneously reads a plurality of documents on a document table and generates an overall scan image as color image data including images of all the documents in the plurality of documents. The controller is configured to isolate an image of each document from the overall scan image, perform a color determination on each of the isolated images to determine if the document corresponding to the isolated image is a color document or a non-color document, and encode each of the isolated images with an image encoding method selected based on the color determination for the isolated image.

An image forming apparatus that forms an image on a recording medium includes: an image forming unit that forms an image on a recording medium and is capable of forming an image for diagnosis, which is an image used for diagnosis of the image forming apparatus; and an adding unit that adds, to a recording medium on which the image for diagnosis has been formed by the image forming unit, information for control used to control output of a reading result from an apparatus used to read the recording medium, the reading result being obtained by reading the recording medium by the apparatus.

An image forming apparatus that forms an image on a recording medium includes: an image former that forms an image on a recording medium; an image reader that reads an image formed on a recording medium; an adjuster that adjusts the image former on a basis of a reading result obtained by the image reader by reading an image formed on a recording medium by the image former; and a processor configured to output, to an external apparatus used for diagnosis of the image forming apparatus, the reading result of the image formed on the recording medium by the image former when adjustment is performed by the adjuster.

An information processing apparatus includes a processor configured to: acquire a read image resulting from reading a recording medium where a diagnostic image to be used to diagnose an image forming apparatus is formed; acquire, from the read image, an image read portion of the recording medium from which the diagnostic image is read and one specific portion of a non-formation read portion, the non-formation read portion resulting from reading a non-formation portion of the recording medium where the diagnostic image is not formed; and output the image read portion and the one specific portion.

The image forming apparatus includes the power supply board for generating a +24V power supply voltage and a driver board for driving a load for forming an image, and an engine control board for controlling an operation of a driver board. The driver board includes a fuse which receives the 24V power supply voltage supplied from the power supply board. The driver board drives the load by +24V_FU1 voltage output from the fuse. The engine control board identifies, when an abnormality occurs in an operation of the load, a board that is a cause of the abnormality according to a voltage value of the +24V_FU1 voltage and the voltage value of the power supply voltage.
