In the virtual content experience system, a central server for driving the system contains: a content conversion unit which converts two-dimensional image content, received by means of a data transmission and reception unit or input by a user, into a stereoscopic image; a motion information generation unit which recognizes text information extracted from the two-dimensional image content and converts the text information into motion information; a content playback control unit which is provided to transmit the motion information to a motion information management unit provided in a virtual reality experience chair, or receive start information and end information about the motion information from the motion information management unit to generate and change control information for controlling whether to provide new two-dimensional image content; and a display unit for displaying the content conversion unit, and the motion information or control information.

TILT VARIANCE METHOD OF DETECTING AND ACCOUNTING FOR TRUE MOTION OF IMAGERY SUBJECT TO ATMOSPHERIC TURBULENCE

A method for determining the likelihood that a pixel in a video image sequence represents true motion in the image. Light from a scene is captured to yield an original image having a sequence of frames. A prototype image is created from the original image as a geometrically accurate representation of the scene which is substantially free of contamination. A tilt variance-Gaussian mixture model and/or multi-variate Gaussian model, based upon optical turbulence statistics associated with the scene, is developed. Each pixel in the original image sequence of frames is evaluated against the prototype image using a probability density function, to yield a likelihood that the respective pixel represents true motion.

System and method for image stitching

A system for stitching images together is disclosed. The images are sometimes referred to as frames, such as frames in a video sequence. The system comprises one or more imagers (e.g. cameras) that work in coordination with a matching amount of custom code modules. The system achieves image stitching using approximately one third the Field of View (FOV) of each imager (camera) and also by increasing the number of imagers to be above a predetermined threshold. The system displays these stitched images or frames on a computer monitor, either in a still-image context but also in a video-context. Normally these tasks would involve a great detail of computation, but the system achieves these effects while managing the computational load. In stitching the images together, it is sometimes necessary to introduce some image distortion (faceting) in the combined image. The system ensures no gaps in any captured view, and assists in achieving full situational awareness for a viewer.

Apparatus and methods for pre-processing and stabilization of captured image data

Apparatus and methods for the pre-processing of image data so as to enhance quality of subsequent encoding and rendering. In one embodiment, a capture device is disclosed that includes a processing apparatus and a non-transitory computer readable apparatus comprising a storage medium have one or more instructions stored thereon. The one or more instructions, when executed by the processing apparatus, are configured to: receive captured image data (such as that sourced from two or more separate image sensors) and pre-process the data to enable stabilization of the corresponding images prior to encoding. In some implementations, the pre-processing includes combination (e.g., stitching) of the captured image data associated with the two or more sensors to facilitates the stabilization. Advantageously, undesirable artifacts such as object “jitter” can be reduced or eliminated. Methods and non-transitory computer readable apparatus are also disclosed.

Wide-angle lens

A wide-angle lens includes a front group, an aperture, a rear group, and an infrared cut filter. The front group includes a first lens and a second lens arranged in order from a side closest to an object to an image side. In the wide-angle lens, an anti-reflection layer having a reflectance of 1.5% or less in a wavelength range from nm to 850 nm is provided on a lens surface of the first lens on the image side to suppress an occurrence of a ghost caused by light passing through a peripheral portion of the lens surface. Therefore, even if a film forming the anti-reflection layer is thinner than an appropriate value at the peripheral portion of the lens surface, the anti-reflection layer appropriately prevents reflection of light in a long wavelength range.
