A method and system detection of inherent noise present within a video source prior to digital video compression is disclosed. A noise image is extracted by subtracting a current image from its filtered version. Each pixel of the extracted noise image is normalized based on a determined principal edge image and the analog noise pixels are accumulated to generate an intermediate noise confidence value. Analog noise may be detected based on an analog noise confidence value generated based on the intermediate noise confidence value and a ringing metric, a blockiness metric, a motion vector cost of the current image, a blurriness exception weight, a flashiness exception weight, and a pan blur exception weight. The method may further comprise detection of high frequency noise based on determining a high frequency noise confidence value that may be based on a high frequency noise value and a frequency component with highest magnitude.

Minimization of fixed pattern noise in images of moving scenes
An exemplary method implements fixed pattern noise compensation for captured visual images of a moving scene. A current X-by-Y frame of image values captured by a camera is stored in memory where the magnitude of each image value represents a light level associated with a respective X-by-Y position in the frame. A moving average value for each image value over a number of X-by-Y frames is determined where the moving average value for each X-by-Y image value represents a level of fixed pattern noise for the moving scene. X-by-Y frames with fixed pattern noise compensated image values are generated based on subtracting from each image value of the current X-by-Y frame the corresponding moving average value.

Systems and methods for reducing interference between content play and video recording among multiple devices located proximate to each other. Microphones of devices recording video are muted, or content play is interrupted, according to the actions of a majority of nearby devices. For example, if most devices are recording video, content play may be interrupted to prevent the video from unintentionally recording unwanted sounds from play of the content. Conversely, if most devices are not recording video, only those devices which are may have their microphones muted. Actions to reduce interference may be taken according to the current behavior of a majority of proximate devices.

The imaging unit can determine whether the imaging control values input from the image signal processing unit via the connection cable are abnormal imaging control values under influence of noise.
