20180007456 · 2018-01-04 ·

A suspension system is provided with a frame to mount to a side surface of a speaker cabinet with a plurality of apertures formed therethrough. The suspension system is also provided with a lever arm with a proximal end and a distal end that are both adapted to connect to an upper support. The lever arm also has an intermediate portion that is pivotally connected to the frame about a pivot axis with a plurality of arcuate slots formed through. Each arcuate slot is formed with an end stop that corresponds to a splay angle of the speaker cabinet relative to the upper support, and each slot aligns with one of the apertures to receive a pin. Whereby suspending the speaker cabinet from the upper support pivots the lever arm in a first direction until the pin engages the end stop.

Wearable device with directional audio

A wearable device can provide an audio module that is operable to provide audio output from a distance away from the ears of the user. For example, the wearable device can be worn on clothing of the user and direct audio waves to the ears of the user. Such audio waves can be focused by a parametric array of speakers that limit audibility by others. Thus, the privacy of the audio directed to the user can be maintained without requiring the user to wear audio headsets on, over, or in the ears of the user. The wearable device can further include microphones and/or connections to other devices that facilitate calibration of the audio module of the wearable device. The wearable device can further include user sensors that are configured to detect, measure, and/or track one or more properties of the user.

Processing sound signals acquired by a microphone, for example an ambisonic type, to locate a sound source in a space including at least one wall. A time-frequency transform is applied to the acquired signals, and, from the acquired signals, a velocity vector, complex with real and imaginary parts, is expressed in the frequency domain, wherein the velocity vector characterizes a composition between: a first acoustic path, direct between the source and the microphone, represented by a first vector; and a second acoustic path resulting from a reflection on the wall and represented by a second vector. The second path has a first delay with respect to the direct path. Depending on the first delay and the first and second vectors, a parameter is determined from among a direction of the direct path, a distance from the source to the microphone, and a distance from the source to said wall.

A plurality of vibrating membranes, in a configuration of cantilevers, are disposed on a main surface of the substrate. A plurality of piezoelectric elements are stacked on the plurality of vibrating membranes for generating a voltage to excite each vibrating membrane. The cantilevers of the plurality of vibrating membranes extend in a direction from a reference point on the main surface toward the cantilevers, or in a direction from the cantilevers toward the reference point.

In at least one example, an epoxy component at least partially defines the cavity and can be in direct contact with the housing sidewall.

Spherical harmonic decomposition of a sound field detected by an equatorial acoustic sensor array

An audio system includes an equatorial acoustic sensor array (EASA) that may be coupled to an object. The audio system is configured to detect, via the EASA, signals corresponding to a portion of a sound field in a local area. The detected signals are converted into a plurality of corresponding abstract representations that describe the portion of the sound field. Effects of scattering of the object are removed from the abstract representations to create adjusted abstract representations. A set of spherical harmonic (SH) coefficients is determined using the adjusted abstract representations. The set of SH coefficients describe an entirety of the sound field. And the set of SH coefficients and head related transfer functions of a user are used for binaural rendering of the reconstructed sound field to the user.
