Binaural hearing system for identifying a manual gesture, and method of its operation
The disclosure relates to a hearing system comprising a first hearing device and a second hearing device configured to be worn at a respective ear of a user, each hearing device comprising a displacement sensor configured to provide respective displacement data indicative of a rotational displacement and/or a translational displacement of the hearing device, and a processing unit communicatively coupled to the displacement sensors. The disclosure further relates to a corresponding method of operating a hearing system, and a computer-readable medium storing instructions to perform the method.
EARDRUM ACOUSTIC PRESSURE ESTIMATION USING FEEDBACK CANCELLER
Disclosed herein are systems and methods for eardrum acoustic pressure estimation for hearing device applications. A receiver signal is produced through a receiver of a hearing device, or a physical extension of the receiver, placed inside an ear canal of a user. A microphone signal is sensed, in response to the receiver signal, using a microphone placed outside the ear canal. Based on the receiver signal and the microphone signal, a reliability signal of the microphone signal and a feedback-path signal are computed. A spectral representation signal of the feedback-path signal is computed, and a real-ear response signal is computed using a mathematical combination of the spectral-representation signal and the reliability signal. The computed real-ear response signal is used to modify an operational characteristic of the hearing device, or to make a recommendation for modification of an operational characteristic or a physical characteristic of the hearing device.
APPARATUS FOR MANIPULATION OF EAR DEVICES
Disclosed herein are apparatuses for manipulation of an ear device within the ear canal of a subject. Also disclosed herein are methods of using said apparatuses for the insertion, removal, or other manipulations of the ear device. Also disclosed herein are methods of making the apparatuses, and kits containing the apparatus with instructions for use.
Personal Communication Device
A Personal Communication Device (PCD) is provided and includes a microphone, a speaker, and a PCD body, wherein the PCD body is configured as an ear cuff and includes a body first end, a body second end and a body middle portion. The PCD body further includes sound processing electronics, such that when a sound is received by the microphone, the sound processing electronics process the sound to generate a processed sound and communicates the processed sound to the speaker and outputs the processed sound into the user's ear canal, wherein the PCD is configured to be securely associated with an ear of a user such that when the PCD is associated with the ear of the user, and wherein the PCD is configured for wireless connectivity.
Hearing aid comprising a left-right location detector
A hearing aid is configured to be located at or in an ear of a user. The hearing aid comprises a heartbeat detector providing a pulse control signal, and a processor. The processor is configured to estimate whether the hearing aid is located at a left or a right ear of the user in dependence of the pulse control signal. A method of operating a hearing aid and a binaural hearing aid system is further disclosed.
A METHOD FOR MONITORING AND DETECTING IF HEARING INSTRUMENTS ARE CORRECTLY MOUNTED
A binaural hearing aid system comprises left and right hearing instruments each comprising a BTE-part comprising a housing configured to be located at or behind an outer ear of the user and an acceleration sensor configured to measure acceleration in at least two directions relative to the housing of the BTE-part and to provide acceleration data indicative thereof. A first one of the left and right hearing instruments comprises a transmitter configured to transmit said acceleration data to the other hearing instrument, and the other hearing instrument comprises a receiver for receiving said acceleration data from the first one of the hearing instruments. The other hearing instrument further comprises a controller for detecting whether or not the left and right hearing instruments are correctly mounted in dependence of a similarity measure between said acceleration data provided by the left and right hearing instruments. A method of operating a binaural hearing aid system is further disclosed.
Ear-worn devices with deep breathing assistance
A method for guiding deep breathing may include receiving a request from a user to initiate a deep breathing exercise on a user-controlled device. The method may include monitoring deep breathing using one or more sensors on an ear-worn device in response to initiating the deep breathing exercise. Examples of sensors include at least one of a motion detector, a microphone, a heart rate sensor, and an electrophysiological sensor. The method may further include initiating an end to the deep breathing exercise. The method may be used with various hearing systems including an ear-worn device and optionally a user-controllable device, such as a smartphone.
Hearing device comprising a keyword detector and an own voice detector and/or a transmitter
A hearing device, e.g. a hearing aid, is configured to be arranged at least partly on a user's head or at least partly implanted in a user's head. The hearing device comprises a) at least one input transducer for picking up an input sound signal from the environment and providing at least one electric input signal representing said input sound signal; b) a signal processor providing a processed signal based on one or more of said at least one electric input signals; c) an output unit for converting said processed signal or a signal originating therefrom to stimuli perceivable by said user as sound; d) a keyword spotting system comprising d1) a keyword detector configured to detect a limited number of predefined keywords or phrases or sounds in said at least one electric input signal or in a signal derived therefrom, and to provide a keyword indicator of whether or not, or with what probability, said keywords or phrases or sounds are detected, and d2) an own voice detector for providing an own voice indicator estimating whether or not, or with what probability, a given input sound signal originates from the voice of the user of the hearing device. The hearing device further comprises e) a controller configured to provide an own-voice-keyword indicator of whether or not or with what probability a given one of said keywords or phrases or sounds is currently detected and spoken by said user, said own-voice-keyword indicator being dependent on said keyword indicator and said own voice indicator.
Custom electronic switchable hearing protection system
An electronic hearing protection system includes an electronic hearing device having a housing that is disposed in a recessed cavity in an earplug. The housing of the electronic hearing device is configured to be rotatable between multiple positions, including a first position in which a speaker of the electronic hearing device aligns with a sound tube in the earplug to permit sound generated by the speaker to travel through the sound tube to the user's ear canal, and a second position in which the housing blocks the sound tube to at least partially prevent sound from reaching the user's ear canal.
METHOD OF OPERATING A HEARING ASSISTIVE DEVICE HAVING A RECHARGEABLE BATTERY
A method of operating a hearing assistive device having a rechargeable battery, and comprises reading battery status data from a battery controller during use of the hearing assistive device, transferring the battery status data wirelessly from the hearing assistive device to a computing device and predicting, in the computing device, a remaining battery time for the rechargeable battery based upon the battery status data received. Once the remaining battery time is predicted, it is compared with a predefined use pattern for hearing assistive device and a user becomes notified if a conflict between the remaining battery time and the predefined use pattern is observed.
