Communication device comprising an acoustical seal and a vent opening
11540041 · 2022-12-27 · ·

A communication device configured for use in a user's ear canal including a sealing mechanism configured to acoustically seal a section of the ear canal and a sound conduit in acoustic communication with a sound source. The sound conduit has a first and second opening, a conduit housing, and a vent opening. To provide a reliable adjustment for the venting of sound waves between a sealed section of the ear canal and an ambient environment outside the sealed section, an acoustic valve having a valve member is moveably coupled with the conduit housing, which moveable coupling is configured to provide a relative motion of the valve member and the conduit housing, such that by such relative motion the acoustic valve provides for opening the vent opening, closing the vent opening, and/or adjusting a size of the vent opening. The communication device further includes an electrical actuator to activate the relative motion.

Using auxiliary device case for translation

An auxiliary device charging case is used to facilitate translation features of a mobile computing device or auxiliary device. A first user, who may be a foreign language speaker, holds the charging case and speaks into the charging case. The charging case communicates the received speech to the mobile computing device, either directly or through the auxiliary device, which translates the received speech into a second language for a second user, who is the owner of the mobile computing device and auxiliary device. The second user may provide input in the second language, such as by speaking or typing into the auxiliary or mobile computing device. The mobile computing device may translate this second input to the first language, and transmit the translated input to the charging case either directly or through the auxiliary device. The charging case may output the translated second input to the first user, such as through a speaker or display screen.

Eartips for coupling via wireform attachment mechanisms

Embodiments describe an eartip including an eartip body having an attachment end and an interfacing end opposite from the attachment end. The eartip body can include an inner eartip body having a sidewall extending between the interfacing end and the attachment end, the sidewall defining a channel and having a first thickness near the attachment end and a second thickness different from the first thickness at the interfacing end. The eartip can also include an attachment structure coupled to the inner eartip body at the attachment end, the attachment structure having an inner surface and an outer surface. The attachment structure can include an upper region interfacing with the sidewall and defining discrete through-holes, a lower region below the upper region where the inner surface defines a plurality of recesses positioned around the lower region, and a mesh extending across the channel and into the upper region.

Hearing protection calibration adapter device

A calibration device and method of manufacturing the same. The calibration device for a hearing earpiece configured to at least partially protrude into the ear canal of a user includes a calibration base. The calibration base a calibration insert. An air chamber is defined between the calibration base and the calibration insert. The calibration device also includes at least one earpiece receiving mechanism defined on the calibration insert. The at least one earpiece receiving mechanism is configured to create an sealed connection between given ear piece and the air chamber for calibration. The earpiece receiving mechanism is configured to at least partially receive the given earpiece. A corresponding method of manufacturing is also included.
