A process for making a circuit board modifies a catalytic laminate having a resin rich surface with catalytic particles dispersed below a surface exclusion depth. The catalytic laminate is subjected to a drilling and resin-rich surface removal operation to expose the catalytic particles, followed by an electroless plating operation which deposits a thin layer of conductive material on the surface. A photo-masking step follows to define circuit traces, after which an electro-plating deposition occurs, followed by a resist strip operation and a quick etch to remove electroless copper which was previously covered by photoresist.

A method for manufacturing a circuit board includes: providing a first board including a post portion, and a second board defining an opening portion extending through a base material, the base material including a circuit pattern disposed on a first surface and an adhesive member disposed on a side of a second surface; and bonding the first board and the second board using the adhesive member by pressurizing and heating the first board and the second board in a state of the post portion being inserted in the opening portion and a top surface of the post portion being exposed from the second board. In a plan view, the second board includes a base material exposed portion. In the bonding, the adhesive member melted by the pressurizing and the heating is disposed between a lateral surface of the post portion and the second board.

Insulated metal substrate and method for manufacturing same

An insulated metal substrate (IMS) and a method for manufacturing the same are disclosed. The IMS includes an electrically conductive line pattern layer, an encapsulation layer, a first adhesive layer, a second adhesive layer, and a heat sink element. The encapsulation layer fills a gap between a plurality of electrically conductive lines of the electrically conductive line pattern layer. An upper surface of the encapsulation layer is flush with an upper surface of the electrically conductive line pattern layer. The first and second adhesive layer are disposed between the electrically conductive line pattern layer and the heat sink element. A bonding strength between the first adhesive layer and the second adhesive layer is greater than 80 kg/cm.sup.2.

The present invention relates to a method for fabricating blackened conductive patterns, which includes (i) forming a resist layer on a non-conductive substrate; (ii) forming fine pattern grooves in the resist layer using a laser beam; (iii) forming a mixture layer containing a conductive material and a blackening material in the fine pattern grooves; and (iv) removing the resist layer remained on the non-conductive substrate.
