Fire hydrant
A fire hydrant barrel includes a body having at least one wall and an anti-rotation pin opening through the at least one wall. The at least one wall defines an internal cavity. The fire hydrant barrel also includes a stem extending through the cavity of the body. The stem has an anti-rotation element, and the anti-rotation pin opening and the anti-rotation element are configured to receive an anti-rotation pin to lock the stem from rotating with respect to the body.

Fire hydrant assembly
A fire hydrant assembly for use with an irrigation riser stub may include a generally cylindrically-shaped main body having an open end and a closed end. The open end of the main body has an inside diameter that is sized to slidably receive an end portion of the irrigation riser stub. A seal disposed within the open end of the main body is sized to sealingly engage the irrigation riser stub. A nipple having a threaded end and a plain end is mounted within an opening provided in a side portion of the main body so that the threaded end may be threaded onto a fire hose assembly. An actuator shaft extends through a shaft opening defined by the closed end of the main body so that a head end of the actuator shaft is disposed outside the main body and so that a distal end of the actuator shaft is disposed within an interior cavity defined by the main body. A yoke mounted to the distal end of the actuator shaft is sized to operatively engage a valve stem associated with the irrigation riser stub.

A sensing device for a hydrant can include a sensor located entirely within an interior cavity of a hydrant body of the hydrant and configured to measure a property of a fluid of a fluid distribution system and an antenna in communication with the sensor and positioned within the interior cavity.

A method of manufacturing a main valve of a hydrant includes: forming an internal rigid structure including a top surface, a bottom surface, a side surface, and a locating feature, the locating feature defined in a one of the top surface and the bottom surface; positioning the internal rigid structure in a mold by contacting the locating feature with the mold; and forming an outer shell around the internal rigid structure.
