COLD WORKED METAL HOUSING FOR A PORTABLE ELECTRONIC DEVICE
A cold worked stainless steel bezel for a portable electronic device is provided. The bezel is secured flush to a housing to form part of the case of the portable electronic device. A brace that includes a slot for receiving a wall extending from the bezel is fixed to the housing. When the bezel engages the housing, the wall of the bezel is inserted in the slot of the brace and releasably held by a spring that engages both the brace and the wall. The bezel can be released by disengaging the spring, (e.g., using a special tool or a magnetic field). Because the bezel is manufactured from cold worked stainless steel, it is hard and resistant to impacts. Cold worked steel also facilitates manufacturing within design constraints and tolerances, and requires very little machining after manufacturing to comply with those constraints.
EXPANDING METAL WITH LOOPS IN DIFFERENT SHAPES
A method for producing an expanded metal, the method including producing a sheet of the expanded sheet metal by introducing openings through one expansion blade wherein all the openings are configured as diamond shaped loops without a material loss and defined by a loop width, a loop length and a loop shape; and forming the diamond shaped loops respectively by four linear bars that are defined by a bar width and a bar thickness wherein two of the four linear bars are respectively connected at four nodes; arranging plural of the diamond shaped loops in columns adjacent to one another and in rows adjacent to one another; and forming first columns of first diamond shaped loops different from second columns of diamond shaped second loops in a loop width or in a loop length respectively measured from a node center to a node center.

Method of manufacturing a heat-humidity exchange plate of an enthalpy air-to-air exchanger
A heat and humidity exchange plate for an air-to-air heat exchanger is made by continuously forming an expanded metal structure from a strip of metal foil by slitting the metal foil in a transverse direction, stretching the metal foil in a longitudinal direction, and then rolling over an entire width of the strip of metal foil. The expanded metal structure is subjected to an annealing heat treatment. A vapour-permeable polymeric membrane is provided on the annealed expanded metal structure. Corrugated and embossed-shaped elements are formed on the annealed expanded metal structure with the vapour-permeable polymeric membrane by means of omnidirectional deformation. A circumferential shape of the exchange plate is formed by removing excess edges from the annealed expanded metal structure with the vapour-permeable polymeric membrane.

EXPANDED METAL FORMED USING ROTARY BLADES AND ROTARY BLADES TO FORM SUCH
A rotary slitting blade for fabricating expanded metal products includes opposed end surfaces and an outer circumferential surface extending from one of the end surfaces to the other of the end surfaces. A plurality of notches are formed in each of the end surfaces. The notches include curved surfaces having convex curvatures that smoothly transition into one of the end surfaces and/or the outer circumferential surface. The rotary slitting blade improves the quality of a resulting expanded metal product by reducing or eliminating tears, cracks, and fractures in the expanded metal product.
Color-coated gutter cover of expanded metal and method of manufacture
A gutter cover of color-coated expanded metal is disclosed. Openings in a center section of the gutter cover are defined by front strands and an opposing rear strands spaced rearward from respective front strands. Forward facing surfaces of the front and rear strands have a first color coating thereon, and rearward facing surfaces of the front and rear strands are free of the first color coating. A method of making the color-coated expanded metal gutter cover is disclosed.
