An article of apparel such as a rain jacket includes a composite fabric formed of a textile layer including a plurality of yarns, each yarn including five to twenty-five filaments having non-circular cross-sectional shapes and a sealing layer applied as a coating directly to the interior surface of the textile layer and having a thickness of about 10 micrometers to about 30 micrometers.

Roofing products with carbon fiber substrate
10538683 · 2020-01-21 · ·

A roofing material comprising a substrate constructed at least in part of a carbon fiber material and a weather-resistant or water-proof coating affixed or applied to the substrate. Aesthetic or reflective materials may be applied to the exposed portion of said roofing material. The substrate may include woven and/or nonwoven fibers. The substrate may comprise a single layer or two or more layers of carbon-fiber material laminated by one or more binding layer. In addition, the present roofing material may include a bonding agent or primer for promoting adhesion between one or more carbon fiber substrate layers and/or a carbon fiber substrate layer and the weather-resistant or water-proof coating.

COMPOSITE MATERIAL FOR GARMENT, GARMENT FABRICATED WITH COMPOSITE MATERIAL, AND MANUFACTURING METHODS THEREOF
20190223522 · 2019-07-25 ·

A composite material for garments, such as shapewear and sportswear garments, is formed of an outer layer that is highly elastic with high compression and an inner layer provided on the outer layer and made of a material that is elastic, waterproof and oil proof. The outer layer is a fabric base fabricated from a blend of polyester and spandex. The inner layer comprises a coating of polyurethane (PU) containing nano-titanium dioxide (nano-TiO.sub.2). When used to fabricate a garment, the inner layer of the composite material is adjacent to the body of the wearer when the garment is worn such that perspiration from the wearer's skin and/or skin contact products, such as oil/water based body creams and gels, applied to the wearer's skin are not absorbed by the inner layer and are thereby prevented by the inner layer from being transmitted to the fabric base.

Hydrophobic additive for use with fabric, fiber, and film
10189959 · 2019-01-29 · ·

The present invention relates to a hydrophobic additive for use with fabric, fiber, and film. One aspect of the present invention comprises a master batch composition for use in preparing a non-woven fabric in order to increase the hydrophobicity of the non-woven fabric. In one embodiment, the master batch composition includes a polymer and a lipid ester. The lipid ester comprises 10 wt. % to 40 wt. % of the master batch. The fabric, when including the master batch composition, has a contact angle ranging from 100 to 125 when measured according to test method ASTM D2578.

Ventilation insert

A ventilation insert for textiles, with at least one layer, covered at least partially by an absorption material and having ventilation openings, the openings being at least partially closeable via a liquid by swelling of the absorption material, obtainable by: a) treating a layer having ventilation openings with a mixture, containing a wetting agent, initiator, polymerizable monomer or oligomers, and a cross-linking agent, as a preliminary stage for the absorption material; and b) polymerizing the monomer or oligomer to form the absorption material while forming a bonded connection between the absorption material and the layer. The ventilation insert has a relatively low thickness, a low weight per unit area, and high flexibility permanently and independently of moisture after economical production, via one layer, self-sealingly closing ventilation openings, and containing the absorption material. The absorption material is connected to the layer by bonding, at least in some regions.

Damp proof course article

A damp proof course article (20) for forming a damp proof course in a substrate (10) is disclosed. The damp proof course article comprises an absorbent member (22) and a damp proof course material absorbed into the absorbent member. The damp proof course material comprises an active agent, wherein the active agent comprises an alkoxysilane.

PROCESS FOR PRODUCING POLYVINYL ALCOHOL ARTICLES
20180171545 · 2018-06-21 ·

The present invention provides a process for modifying the surface of a polyvinyl alcohol film or fabric by applying heat and pressure to the film or fabric to increase the moisture on the surface which is held by the fabric and to coalesce the surface fibers and reduce the porosity of the surface.

Thermally sprayed protective coating for industrial and engineered fabrics

A fabric or belt and a method for forming such a fabric or belt, including a base support structure and at least one coating with the coating being applied by a thermal spray process.
