Miter saw
A miter saw includes a base assembly, a bevel arm pivotably coupled to the base assembly, and a saw unit pivotably coupled to the bevel arm about a horizontal chop axis. The saw unit includes a saw blade rotatable about a blade axis and a motor having an output shaft inclined at an oblique included angle relative to the blade axis. The miter saw also includes a guide rail coupling the saw unit to the base assembly and a battery selectively electrically connectable with the motor to provide power to the motor. The bevel arm and saw unit are pivotable relative to the base assembly, from an orientation in which the saw blade is substantially vertical, in both a first direction about the bevel axis by a bevel angle of at least about 45 degrees and an opposite, second direction by a bevel angle of at least about 45 degrees.
Table saws
Table saws are disclosed. The table saws can include a blade, an arbor, an arbor block, an elevation carriage, and a latch that connects the arbor block and the elevation carriage. The arbor block can have a first position in which the latch connects the arbor block and the elevation carriage, and a second position in which the latch does not connect the arbor block and the elevation carriage. The arbor block can pivot from the first position to the second position upon the occurrence of a retraction force. The table saw can include an actuator to cause the occurrence of the retraction force, and detection electronics to detect contact between the blade and a person. Woodworking machines with detection and reaction systems are also disclosed. A reaction system can include an explosive that causes retraction of a cutting tool.
POWER TOOL CUTTING APPARATUS
The invention relates to apparatus for providing for the powered cutting of a workpiece, typically in the form of a planar or sheet material. The apparatus includes a rotatable blade to cut the workpiece and the blade is mountable such as in a first mode of use to be capable of being held in a fixed position in which the workpiece is moved past the blade, and a second mode of use in which the blade is moved with respect to the workpiece to cut the same. The workpiece is mounted on a base and the blade is mounted with respect to the base via one or more slide members.
Mechanism for adjusting a rotational position of a table of power miter saw
A power miter saw is provided with a base including positioning apertures; a table rotatably mounted on the base and including an arm projecting forward; a saw blade and motor mechanism configured to rotate a circular saw blade thereof; a pivotal positioning seat interconnecting two linear guide mechanisms and a support seat at a rear end of the base; a connecting seat interconnecting the linear guide mechanisms to the saw blade and motor mechanism; a locking device; and a positioning device. Knob rotation and button pressing may adjust a rotational position of the table.
MITER SAW
A bevel angle lock and detent system for a miter saw includes a first locking unit fixed relative to the turntable and a second locking unit coupled to a bevel arm of the miter saw. An actuator is moveable between a first position and a second position to move the second locking unit relative to the first locking unit. In the first position, a brake member of the second locking unit is engaged with an arcuate surface of the first locking unit to lock a saw unit relative to a turntable. In the second position, the brake member is disengaged from the arcuate surface, thereby permitting pivoting movement of the saw unit, and a detent member of the second locking unit is engageable a detent aperture of the first locking unit to locate the saw unit relative to the turntable at one predetermined bevel angle.
TABLE SAWS WITH SAFETY SYSTEMS AND SYSTEMS TO MOUNT AND INDEX ATTACHMENTS
Table saws and table saws designed to implement safety systems that detect contact between a person and a dangerous portion of the saw are disclosed. Table saw components, mounting systems for table saws, and table saw attachments are also disclosed. One embodiment may include a first clamp surface, a second clamp surface spaced apart from the first clamp surface so that a base portion of a riving knife or splitter can be placed between the clamp surfaces with the opposing sides of the base portion generally parallel to the first and second clamp surfaces.

The workpiece is mounted on a base and the blade is mounted with respect to the base via one or more slide members (68, 76).

Bevel mechanism for a power saw
A table saw includes a support arrangement and a table top assembly including a work piece support surface defining a plane and a saw blade opening in the work piece support surface. An undercarriage assembly, mounted to the table top assembly, supports a saw blade in an adjustable angular position and includes a motor assembly and an arbor shaft to support the saw blade in the saw blade opening. The bevel pivoting mechanism is configured to increase a distance between the motor or arbor shaft and the plane of the work piece support surface with a change to the angular position of the saw blade to substantially prevent the motor or arbor from contacting the table top assembly.
