DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0020] The present invention provides a heat reflective clothing having moisture wicking properties to keep the body warm in cold climates.
[0021] Before explaining at least one embodiment of the invention in detail, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited in its application to the details of construction and the arrangements of the components set forth in the following description. The invention is capable of other embodiments and of being practiced and carried out in various ways. Also it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein are for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting.
[0022] As used in this specification and the appended claims, the singular forms “a”, “an” and “the” include plural referents unless the content clearly dictates otherwise. As used in this specification and the appended claims, the term “or” is generally employed in its sense including “and/or” unless the content clearly dictates otherwise.
[0023] Unless otherwise defined, all terms (including technical and scientific terms) used herein have the same meaning as commonly understood by one having ordinary skill in the art to which this invention belongs. It will be further understood that terms, such as those defined in commonly used dictionaries, should be interpreted as having a meaning that is consistent with their meaning in the context of the relevant art and the present disclosure and will not be interpreted in an idealized or overly formal sense unless expressly so defined herein.
[0024] The present invention provide a heat reflective clothing having excellent thermal insulation and moisture wicking properties used to keep the body of a person warm in cold climates. The clothing could be easily adapted to make apparels, footwear and other accessories such a gloves and hats. The invention is advantageous by providing clothing which is thinner and still provides excellent thermal insulation. The enhanced thermal insulation is achieved through heat reflection mechanism wherein a reflective surface of the clothing reflects the heat emanated from the body.
[0025] The invention uses commercially available Mylar which is a registered trademark owned by DuPont Teijin Films for a specific family of plastic sheet products made from the resin Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET). Preferably, the invention could use commercially available Mylar ® A which is thinner. The Mylar has a reflective surface which could reflect the heat emanated from the body of a person.
[0026] To wick the perspirations of the body, the reflective Mylar is combined with moisture wicking wool. The reflective Mylar and the wool could be combined by one of the two processes. In the first process, the Mylar is sliced into thin threads which are interwoven with the wool to produce the heat reflective clothing with moisture wicking properties. The cloth produced could be then used to make apparel, gloves, hats etc.
[0027] In another process, the sheet of Mylar is punched to form micro pores and the wool is interweaved into these micro pores. The reflective side of Mylar should face the skin as this is important for the heat reflection mechanism to work and keep the body of the person warm.
[0028] To further enhance the thermal insulation and other properties of the clothing, the combined Mylar and wool product may further include an outer layer which could be leather or synthetic polymeric material. (
[0029] The use of wool provides comfort to the user and also absorbs any perspiration. Moreover, the wool provides additional thermal insulation. It is obvious that any type of wool could be used including the wools of different thickness. The wool could also be replaced by other similar material having thermal insulation and moisture wicking properties, such as, fleece. The invention could be integrated into an insulated or un-insulated footwear for protection against cold toes and feet. The invention is useful in making hats, pants, jackets, shirts, blankets, liners, etc.
[0030] Those skilled in the art should appreciate that they can readily use the disclosed conception and specific embodiment as a basis for designing or modifying other structures for carrying out the same purposes of the present invention and that such other structures do not depart form the spirit and scope of the invention in its broadest form.
