Abstract
A brewing material holder includes a closed bottom water dispersing member including ports providing streams of water from just under a holder lid bottom, for uniformly dispersing water into the brewing material in the holder. When water is injected into the holder, the flow of water is captured in the water dispersion member and directed up to the ports and sprayed horizontally or vertically into the brewing material, and sinks into brewing material contained in the brewing chamber. The water dispersion member may be attached to the holder lid or be part of the holder lid. A single centered port may be provided in the bottom of the dispensing member provides an additional spray and also helps drain the dispensing member after use.
Claims
1. A brewing material holder comprising: a base having an interior configured to hold brewing material, the base configured to reside in a brewing chamber of a coffee maker; a removable lid attachable to and detachable from the base, the lid including: a water inlet into the lid, the water inlet configured to receive an injection needle in fluid communication with a pressurized water supply of the coffee maker; a water dispersing member including an injection needle chamber receiving the injection needle and limiting escape of water from the ejection needle into the brewing material to directed sprays of water into the base; and ports residing in the water dispersing member configured to direct the directed sprays of water from the injection needle chamber down and proximal to an outer top edge of the holder.
2. The brewing material holder of claim 1, wherein the water dispersing member includes: at least one central vertical port in the injection needle chamber providing one of the directed sprays; and a circular chamber extending radially from the injection needle chamber and above the brewing material and having a plurality of angularly spaced apart second ports spaced radially outward from the injection needle chamber and providing vertical sprays of water into the brewing material.
3. The brewing material holder of claim 2, wherein the second ports comprise a single circle of ports approximately centered between an outer edge of the water dispensing member and the outer top edge of the holder.
4. The brewing material holder of claim 2, wherein the second ports comprise two radially spaced apart circles of ports residing between an outer edge of the water dispensing member and the outer top edge of the holder.
5. The brewing material holder of claim 4, wherein the two circles of second ports are preferably radially spaced about ⅓ and ⅔ of the distance between the outer edge of the water dispersion member and the outer top rim of the base, from the outer edge of the water dispersion member.
6. The brewing material holder of claim 1, wherein the water dispersing member includes: at least one central vertical port in the injection needle chamber; and a circular chamber extending radially from the injection needle chamber, the lid providing an upper surface of the circular chamber and a floor above the brewing material providing a lower surface of the circular chamber, and having a plurality of angularly spaced apart second ports spaced radially outward from the injection needle chamber and providing vertical sprays of water into the brewing material.
7. The brewing material holder of claim 6, wherein the circular chamber is disk shaped.
8. The brewing material holder of claim 7, wherein the circular chamber has a flat ceiling.
9. The brewing material holder of claim 8, wherein the circular chamber has a flat floor.
10. The brewing material holder of claim 9, wherein the circular chamber is surrounded by a circular wall.
11. The brewing material holder of claim 1, wherein the base includes a recess configured to avoid a bottom puncture needle residing in the bottom of a brewing chamber.
12. A brewing material holder comprising: a base having an interior configured to hold brewing material, the base configured to reside in a brewing chamber of a coffee maker and including a recess configured to avoid a bottom puncture needle residing in the bottom of a brewing chamber; a removable lid attachable to and detachable from the base, the lid including: a water inlet into the lid, the water inlet configured to receive an injection needle in fluid communication with a pressurized water supply of the coffee maker; a water dispersing member including: an injection needle chamber providing space for the injection needle and limiting escape of water from the ejection needle to directed sprays of water into the brewing material; at least one central vertical port in the injection needle chamber providing one of the directed sprays; a disk shaped circular chamber in fluid communication with the injection needle chamber and formed on a bottom surface of the lid and extending radially from the injection needle chamber and in fluid communication with the injection needle chamber and above the brewing material; and a plurality of angularly spaced apart second ports in a floor of the circular chamber and spaced radially outward from the injection needle chamber about half the distance from an outer wall of the water dispensing member to an outer upper rim of the base, and providing vertically downward sprays of water into the brewing material.
13. A brewing material holder comprising: a base having an interior configured to hold brewing material, the base configured to reside in a brewing chamber of a coffee maker and including a recess configured to avoid a bottom puncture needle residing in the bottom of a brewing chamber; a removable lid attachable to and detachable from the base, the lid including: a water inlet into the lid, the water inlet configured to receive an injection needle in fluid communication with a pressurized water supply of the coffee maker; a water dispersing member including: an injection needle chamber providing space for the injection needle and limiting escape of water from the ejection needle to directed sprays of water into the brewing material; at least one central vertical port in the injection needle chamber providing one of the directed sprays; a disk shaped circular chamber in fluid communication with the injection needle chamber and formed on a bottom surface of the lid and extending radially from the injection needle chamber and in fluid communication with the injection needle chamber and above the brewing material; and two circles of second ports, radially spaced about ⅓ and ⅔ of the distance between the outer edge of the water dispersion member and the outer top rim of the base, and providing vertically downward sprays of water into the brewing material.
