DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0029] According to FIGS. 1 to 5, a sound- and heat-insulating enclosure 1 for enclosing a pedal mount 2 (see FIGS. 2 to 5) of a motor vehicle 7 is shown, wherein the pedal mount 2 has at least one pedal 3 mounted pivotably thereon. According to FIGS. 2 to 5, the pedal mount 2 even has a total of two pedals 3 pivotably mounted thereon. In addition, the enclosure 1 according to aspects of the invention has retaining contours 4, by means of which fixing on the pedal mount 2, in particular even without further fixing means, such as screws, is possible. In this case, the enclosure 1 according to aspects of the invention can be fixed on the pedal mount 2 by means of a latching or clip joint, for example, but also by means of a clamped joint.

[0030] In general, it is possible with the enclosure 1 according to aspects of the invention to shift a sealing plane between an interior 5 of a cockpit and a footwell 6 of the motor vehicle 7 away from the actual pedals 3 toward the pedal mount 2. This makes it possible to design the seal independently of the configuration of the pedals 3 or their pedal levers, e.g. in the manner of a sword or else wider.

[0031] In this case, the enclosure 1 can either be of one-part or of multi-part design, e.g. can have two enclosure parts 8, 9, which can be connected to one another by means of a clip joint. Comparatively simple mounting and dismounting of the enclosure 1 on the pedal mount 2 is thereby possible, as a result of which both the mounting costs and the dismounting costs, particularly during maintenance and repair work, are significantly reduced.

[0032] It is possible for the enclosure 1 itself to be made of plastic, in particular as a plastic injection molding or as a foamed plastic molding, and as a result to be produced not only in high quality but also at low cost. Alternatively, it is also conceivable for the enclosure 1 to have an injection-molded supporting structure, which is overmolded with a foamed plastic. In this case, the injection-molded supporting structure serves primarily for fixing the enclosure 1 on the pedal mount 2, while the foamed plastic molded around the injection-molded supporting structure serves for insulation.

[0033] Continuing to consider FIGS. 1 to 5, it can be seen that the enclosure 1 or its enclosure parts 8, 9 have projecting flanges 10, by means of which, for example, sound- and heat-insulating connection to a footwell cover 11 (see FIGS. 3 to 5) is possible.

[0034] The present invention simultaneously comprises the motor vehicle 7 described in the previous paragraphs, having the cockpit, the footwell 6 and the pedal mount 2 with at least one pedal 3 mounted pivotably thereon and projecting into the footwell 6, and having an enclosure 1 corresponding to the previous paragraphs. In this case, this enclosure 1 is fixed on the pedal mount 2, in particular by means of a clip joint, and forms a sound and cold barrier between the interior 5 of the cockpit and the footwell 6.

[0035] The footwell cover 11 rests in a sealed manner on the flanges 10 of the enclosure 1 (cf. especially FIG. 5) and can be adhesively bonded there to the flanges 10, for example. It is clearly apparent, especially from FIG. 5, that the enclosure 11 encloses only the pedal mount 2 and is secured thereon, but in no way touches the pedals 3 or their pedal levers and, as a result, also in no way limits their mobility. In addition, ribs 12 and grooves 13 can be provided on the pedal mount 2, wherein the enclosure 1 engages via its retaining contours 4 in the grooves 13, for example, and thereby forms an undercut joint therewith. In this way, extremely simple and at the same time reliable fixing of the enclosure 1 on the pedal mount 2 is possible.

[0036] According to FIGS. 2 to 4, it can furthermore be seen that the enclosure 1 rests in a sealed manner against a flange 15 of the pedal mount 2, wherein the flange 15 in turn rests in a sealed manner against the bulkhead 14 and thereby allows sealing between the interior 5 of the cockpit and the footwell 6.

[0037] The great advantage of the enclosure 1 according to aspects of the invention is that it can be used independently of the form and shape of the pedals 3 since the sealing plane previously located in the region of the pedals 3 has now been shifted into the region of the pedal mount 2. At the same time, the enclosure 1 can be designed in such a way that it can be fixed on the pedal mount 2 without further fastening means, for example by means of simple latching and clip joints, with the result that no modifications at all are required even on the pedal mounts 2 used hitherto. The positive connection between the enclosure 1 and the pedal mount 2 also allows comparatively simple assembly and disassembly. Moreover, by designing the enclosure 1 as, for example, a plastic injection molding, it can be produced inexpensively and with a high quality.

[0038] A pedal-independent high-quality sealing concept can be implemented by shifting a sealing plane between an interior (5) of a cockpit and a footwell (6) from the pedals (3) toward the pedal mount (2).
