Abstract
An adjustable sledgehammer workout apparatus may include a handle, a pair of supporting brackets connected to the handle, and a clamping assembly connected to the supporting brackets. The supporting brackets may be rectangular in shape with beveled or rounded edges. The clamping assembly may include a pair of lower c-shaped portions connected to a pair of upper c-shaped portions using a hinge assembly. Different size and weight dumbbells may be connected to the handle using the clamping assembly.
Claims
1. An adjustable sledgehammer workout apparatus, comprising: a handle; a clamping assembly connected to a first end of the handle for connecting a dumbbell to the handle.
2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the clamping assembly includes a pair of annular clamps, an upper brace connected between upper portions of the annular clamps, and a pair of lower spacers connected to lower portions of the annular clamps and the first end of the handle.
3. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein each annular clamp includes a hinged portion, which allows each annular clamp to open to form two c-shaped portions, and a tightening fastener that can be used to secure together the two c-shaped portions of the annular clamp.
4. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein the handle includes a steel pipe having a 1¼″ diameter and 36″ length, the annular clamps are hinge collars with rubber pads lining an inner surface, the tightening fastener includes a t-handle, the upper brace is welded to the upper portions of the annular clamps, and the lower spacers are metal and welded to the first end of the handle and the lower portions of the annular clamps.
5. The apparatus of claim 4, wherein the dumbbell is a conventional dumbbell.
6. The apparatus of claim 5, wherein the clamping assembly includes components manufactured by and available from McMaster-Carr.com.
7. The apparatus of claim 5, wherein the handle includes a rotatable bottom portion and a threaded tension rod assembly disposed within the handle, the threaded tension rod assembly includes a plate and a threaded rod, and threaded rod is at least partially disposed in the rotatable bottom portion.
