Abstract
A remote regulator adjustment tool that can be used to adjust an output pressure of a remote regulator. The remote regulator adjustment tool comprises a housing defining a first bore extending therethrough, an adjustor piston movably disposed within the first bore, and an adjustment knob attached to the adjustor piston.
Claims
1. An apparatus for adjusting an output pressure of a pressure regulator, comprising: a first housing formed to include a first bore extending therethrough; an adjuster piston moveably disposed within said first bore, wherein said adjuster piston comprises a plurality of alignment keys disposed on a distal end thereof, and wherein said adjuster piston is formed to include a threaded aperture extending inwardly from a proximal end thereof; a rotatable adjustment knob comprising a threaded shaft extending outwardly therefrom; wherein: said adjuster piston is attached to said rotatable adjustment knob; rotating said knob in a first direction causes said adjuster piston to move downwardly in said bore; and rotating said knob in a second and opposite direction causes said adjuster piston to move upwardly in said bore.
2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said adjuster piston is formed to include a threaded aperture extending inwardly from a proximal end thereof.
3. The apparatus of claim 2, wherein said threaded shaft mates with said threaded aperture.
4. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a pressure gauge, wherein said pressure gauge is in fluid communication with said first bore.
5. The apparatus of claim 4, further comprising a pressure relief assembly having a first orientation wherein pressure is maintained within said apparatus and a second orientation wherein pressure is released from said apparatus.
6. The apparatus of claim 5, wherein said pressure relief assembly further comprises: a second housing formed to include a threaded end and a second bore therethrough; a spring disposed within said second bore; a gasket disposed over a distal end of said second bore; and a push rod extending through said gasket and in physical contact with said spring; a button attached to a distal end of said push rod; wherein said button can be moved inwardly to release pressure from said apparatus.
7. An assembly, comprising: a pressure regulator comprising a first housing, a first spring moveably disposed within said first housing, and comprising a first end and a second end; an adjuster cap disposed in said first housing and in physical contact with said first end of said first spring; a pressure regulator adjustment tool comprising a second housing formed to include a first bore extending therethrough, an adjuster piston moveably disposed within said first bore, wherein: said adjuster piston is attached to a rotatable adjustment knob; rotating said adjustment knob in a first direction causes said adjuster piston to move downwardly in said bore; and rotating said adjustment knob in a second and opposite direction causes said adjuster piston to move upwardly in said bore.

The assembly of claim 7, wherein: said adjuster piston comprises a plurality of alignment keys disposed on a distal end thereof; said adjuster cap is formed to include a corresponding plurality of key slots therein; and each of said plurality of alignment keys is removeably disposed within a different one of said plurality of alignment slots.

The assembly of claim 8, wherein: said first housing comprises an integral tail piece disposed on an input end; said first housing comprises a first annular lip disposed on an output end; said adjustment knob is attached to a threaded shaft which extends outwardly from a first end of said second housing; said second housing comprises a threaded second end; a hex nut comprising internal threading and a second annular lip, wherein said first housing extends through said hex nut such that said first annular lip contacts said second annular lip; wherein said threaded end interconnects with said internal threading of said hex nut.
10. The assembly of claim 8, said pressure regulator tool further comprising a pressure gauge, wherein said pressure gauge is in fluid communication with said first bore.
11. The assembly of claim 10, said pressure regulator assembly further comprising a pressure relief assembly having a first orientation wherein pressure is maintained within said apparatus and a second orientation wherein pressure is released from said apparatus.
12. The assembly of claim 11, wherein said pressure relief assembly further comprises: a third housing formed to include a threaded end and a second bore therethrough; a second spring disposed within said second bore, a gasket disposed over a distal end of said second bore; and a push rod extending through said gasket and in physical contact with said spring, and a button attached to a distal end of said push rod, wherein said button can be moved inwardly to release pressure from said apparatus.
13. A method to adjust an output pressure of a remote pressure regulator, comprising: providing a remote regulator comprising a first spring to set an output pressure, a threaded adjuster cap in physical contact with a distal end of said first spring, wherein said adjuster cap is formed to include a plurality of key slots extending inwardly therein; attaching to said remote regulator a regulator pressure adjustment tool comprising a pressure gauge, a rotatable adjustment knob, and a moveable adjustor piston, wherein said rotatable adjustment knob is coupled to said moveable adjuster piston; attaching a pressurized gas input source to said tailpiece of said remote regulator; observing an indicated output pressure of said remote regulator using said pressure gauge; rotating said adjustment knob in a first direction to increase said indicated output pressure; and rotating said adjustment knob in a second and opposite direction to decrease said indicated output pressure.
14. The method of claim 13, wherein said remote regulator adjustment tool comprises a first housing formed to include a first bore extending therethrough, wherein said pressure gauge is in fluid communication with said first bore.
15. The method of claim 14, wherein said remote regulator further comprises a pressure relief assembly.

The method of claim 15, wherein said pressure relief assembly further comprises, a second housing formed to include a threaded end and a second bore therethrough; a spring disposed within said second bore, a gasket disposed over a distal end of said second bore; and a push rod extending through said gasket and in physical contact with said spring; a button attached to a distal end of said push rod, wherein said button can be moved inwardly to release pressure from said apparatus.

The method of claim 13, wherein: said adjuster piston is formed to include a threaded aperture extending inwardly from a proximal end thereof; said adjustment knob further comprises a threaded shaft extending outwardly therefrom; said threaded shaft mates with said threaded aperture; rotating said adjustment knob in a first direction causes said adjuster piston to move downwardly in said bore and compressing said first spring in said remote regulator; rotating said adjustment knob in a second and opposite direction causes said adjuster piston to move upwardly in said bore and de-compress said first spring in said remote regulator.
18. The method of claim 13, further comprising gradually rotating the adjustment knob in the first direction to gradually increase the indicated output pressure.
19. The method of claim 13, further comprising gradually rotating the adjustment knob in the second and opposite direction to gradually decrease the indicated output pressure.

Individual dispense pressures are recommended for various brands/types of draught beer plus altitude, temperature, and system length require additional push pressure.

[0040] Kegs are pressurized vessels. Nearly all modern kegs use some form of Sankey valve and stem. There are two main types of Sankey valves and corresponding keg necks: “drop-in,” and threaded. Drop-in Sankey valves are held in place by a lock ring or circlip. The lock ring and valve should never be removed in the field. Very rarely a lock ring can fail, possibly loosening the valve, creating a potentially dangerous situation. Threaded Sankey valves screw into the neck of the keg.

This feature is suitable for pouring many different beverages, which have different desired pour pressures.
