    Abstract

    A shape card for self-assessment of a shape of a hair includes a first part, a second part, and a third part. The first part includes one or more first reference markers for assessing a number of hair waves. The second part includes one or more second reference markers for assessing hair curvature. The third part includes one or more descriptors each describing a target hair shape. The target hair shape is a result of a combination of one of the one or more first reference markers and one of the one or more second reference markers.

    13. The method of claim 12, wherein the hair is at least 6 centimeters long.

    14. A reference card comprising: a first reference marker associated with a first number of waves of a hair; a second reference marker associated with a first curvature of the hair; and a first descriptor associated with a first target hair shape that is associated with the first number of waves and the first curvature.

    15. The reference card of claim 14, further comprising a third reference marker associated with a second number of waves of the hair or a second curvature of the hair; wherein the first target hair shape is not associated with the second number of waves or the second curvature.

    16. The reference card of claim 14, further comprising: a third reference marker associated with a second number of waves of the hair; and a second descriptor associated with a second target hair shape that is associated with the second number of waves and the first curvature.

    17. The reference card of claim 14, further comprising: a third reference marker associated with a second curvature of waves of the hair; and a second descriptor associated with a second target hair shape that is associated with the first number of waves and the second curvature.

    18. A reference card comprising: a first reference marker comprising: a first image of a first wave; and a second image of a second wave; a second reference marker comprising: a first line with a first curvature; and a second line with a second curvature; a first descriptor associated with the first wave and the first curvature; and a second descriptor associated with the second wave and the second curvature.

    20. The reference card of claim 18, further comprising a grid comprising: a plurality of rows; and a plurality of columns; wherein the first image is associated with a first row of the plurality of rows; wherein the second image is associated with a second row of the plurality of rows; wherein the first line is associated with a first column of the plurality of columns; wherein the second line is associated with a second column of the plurality of columns; wherein the first descriptor is disposed within a first intersection of the first row and the first column; and wherein the second descriptor is disposed within a second intersection of the second row and the second column.

    Description

    BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES

    [0056] Embodiments of the invention will now be described with reference to the following non-limiting figures, in which:

    [0057] FIG. 1 shows a plan view of a means for measuring out the length of hair being used;

    [0058] FIG. 2 shows a plan view of a series of reference markers provided in the first part;

    [0059] FIG. 3 shows the biggest wave of a hair fibre being identified;

    [0060] FIG. 4 shows a comparison of the biggest wave of a hair fibre to the reference markers provided in the second part;

    [0061] FIG. 5 shows a schematic diagram of a third part of a shape card;

    [0062] In detail, FIG. 1 shows a means for measuring out the length of hair which is a rectangular box (1). The length of the rectangular box (1) is 6 cm. A hair fibre (2) is pulled taut and cut to fit the length of the rectangular box (1).

    [0063] FIG. 2 shows a series of reference markers which comprises a series of drawings of 2D hair images (3) and indicators (4). The hair images (3) each has a different number of hair waves and are arranged in ascending order. Indicators (4) are a series of letters corresponding to the images (3).

    [0064] FIG. 3 shows the identification of the biggest wave (5A) on the hair fibre (2). The big wave (5A) is being labelled with a ‘tick’ whilst a small wave (5B) is labelled with a ‘cross’.

    [0065] FIG. 4 shows a comparison of the biggest wave (5A) of the hair fibre (2) to the reference markers (6) provided in the second part. The reference markers (6) comprise a series of lines with different curvatures (7). The markers (6) further comprise a series of indicators which are numbers (8) located at one dimension.

    [0066] FIG. 5 shows a schematic diagram of a third part (9) of a shape card. The third part (9) comprises Y-axis denoting the reference markers from the first part and X-axis denoting the reference markers from the second part. Y-axis comprises indicators (4) identical to those (4) used in FIG. 2 (first part) and X-axis comprises indicators (8) identical to those (8) used in FIG. 4(second part). The third part (9) further comprises descriptors for hair shape (10). Each descriptor (10) is for a specific hair shape. The diagram of the third part is sectioned so that once a certain letter of the number of hair waves and a certain number of the hair curvature are selected, the resultant combination is a certain descriptor for hair shape (10).
