Abstract
An improved fishing net is disclosed that incorporates a magnetic clasp system into its structure. The fishing net with magnetic clasp system introduces a medallion containing a magnet having a force of attraction of at least 1.8 kilograms attached to a bottom portion of the fishing net. Iron or magnet in any form, be it solid, powder or liquid, is inserted within the fishing net pole at a location where the medallion is located when holding the fishing net vertically with the net up, so that the magnetic force of the magnet(s) and/or iron causes the net to connect to the pole.
Claims
1. A fishing net comprising a pole with at least 20 grams magnetic material fixedly inserted inside and substantially filling an area of at least 2 centimeters length of the pole, a net mounted with respect to the pole, and a magnet mounted to a bottom portion of the net inclusive of any necessary extensions; said magnetic material positioned inside the pole at a location less than 2.5 centimeters from where the magnet is with respect to the pole when holding the pole vertically, net up.
2. The fishing net of claim 1, wherein said magnetic material is iron.
3. A method of making a fishing net with a magnetic clasp system, said fishing net having a pole and a net mounted with respect to the pole, comprising the following steps: (a) connecting a magnet to a bottom portion of the net inclusive of any necessary extensions; (b) drilling at least one hole into the pole at a location less than 3 centimeters from where the magnet is with respect to the pole when holding the pole vertically, net up; and (c) substantially filling the inside of the pole with at least 20 grams magnetic material substantially occupying an area of at least 2 centimeters along the length of the pole fixedly adjacent said at least one hole.
4. The method of claim 3, wherein said magnetic material is fixedly surrounded by at least 20 grams of filler material on both sides of said magnetic material inside the pole.
5. The method of claim 3, wherein step (a) further comprises using a medallion with said magnet inside, said medallion having a small hole for receiving a zip tie to connect said medallion to said bottom portion of the net inclusive of any necessary extensions.
6. The method of claim 3, wherein step (a) further comprises using a medallion with said magnet inside, said medallion having a small hole for receiving a carabineer to connect said medallion to said bottom portion of the net.
7. The method of claim 3, wherein step (a) further comprises using a medallion with said magnet inside, said medallion having a small hole for receiving a key ring to connect said medallion to said bottom portion of the net.
8. The method of claim 3, wherein the magnetic material of step (c) is iron.
9. The method of claim 3, wherein the magnetic material of step (c) is liquid magnet.
10. The method of claim 4, wherein the filler material is silicon.
11. A method of making a fishing net with a magnetic clasp system, said fishing net having a pole and a net mounted with respect to the pole, comprising the following steps: (a) connecting a medallion containing a magnet to a bottom portion of the net inclusive of any necessary extensions; and (b) inserting magnetic material into the pole at a location matching the position of the medallion with respect to the pole when holding the pole vertically, net up.
12. The method of claim 11, wherein step (b) comprises inserting iron into the pole at a location matching the position of the medallion with respect to the pole when holding the pole vertically, net up.
13. A kit of supplies for creating a magnetic clasp system for a fishing net, comprising: (a) approximately 28 grams magnetic material; (b) approximately 56 grams filler material; (c) a medallion containing a magnet having at least 1.8 kilograms force of attraction; and (d) a fastener.
14. The kit of supplies of claim 13, further comprising: (e) at least one cap having at least a 0.3 centimeter diameter.
15. The kit of supplies of claim 13, further comprising: (f) at least one drill bit having at least a 0.3 centimeter diameter.
16. The kit of supplies of claim 13, further comprising (g) at least one alcohol wipe.
17. The kit of supplies of claim 13, wherein said magnetic material of (a) is iron.
18. The kit of supplies of claim 13, wherein said magnetic material of (a) is liquid magnet.
19. The kit of supplies of claim 13, wherein said filler material of (b) is silicon.
20. The kit of supplies of claim 13, wherein said fastener of (d) is a zip tie.
21. The kit of supplies of claim 13, wherein said fastener of (d) is a carabineer.
22. The kit of supplies of claim 13, wherein said fastener of (d) is a key ring.
23. The kit of supplies of claim 13, wherein said fastener of (d) is fixedly monolithic with the medallion of (c).
