Abstract
A golf target assembly for facilitating target practice with golf shots includes a target tree comprising a base portion, a trunk portion extending upwardly from the base portion and a plurality of arms each extending away from the trunk portion. A plurality of target hangers is each coupled to a respective one of the arms such that each of the target hangers hangs downwardly from the respective arm. A plurality of targets is each attachable to a respective one of the target hangers be shot at with golf shots. Each of the targets is comprised of a frangible material such that each of the targets shatters when the targets are struck with a projectile. In this way the plurality of targets facilitates a visual alert to the user when a golf ball strikes one of the targets.

[0012]
[0013]
[0014]
[0015]
[0016]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0017] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
[0018] As best illustrated in
[0019] The base portion 14 comprises a plurality of basal members 22 each being removably attached to a respective one of a plurality of basal couplers 24. Each of the basal couplers 24 has a plurality of receivers 26 that are oriented at perpendicular angles with respect to each other. In this way the plurality of basal members 22 can be arranged in a grid which can lie on a horizontal support surface 28. The horizontal support surface 28 may be ground at a driving range, for example, or other location employed for practicing golf shots. Each of the basal couplers 24 may comprise a polyvinylchloride tee fitting or other similar type of device and each of the basal members 22 may comprise a polyvinylchloride pipe or other similar type of device.
[0020] The trunk portion 16 comprises a plurality of trunk members 30 that is each removably attached to a respective one of a plurality of trunk couplers 32. Each of the trunk couplers 32 has a plurality of receivers 34 oriented at perpendicular angles with respect to each other. In this way each of the plurality of trunk members 30 extends between a respective receiver 34 on a respective pair of trunk couplers 32 having the trunk members 30 oriented parallel to each other. Thus, the trunk portion 16 defines a stanchion which extends upwardly from the base portion 14. A lowermost one of the trunk members 36 engages a respective receiver 26, which is directed upwardly, on a respective one of the basal couplers 24. Each of the trunk couplers 32 may comprise a polyvinylchloride tee fitting and each of the trunk members 30 may comprise a polyvinylchloride pipe.
[0021] Each of the arms 18 has a first end 38, a second end 40 and an outer wall 42 extending between the first end 38 and the second end 40. The first end 38 of each of the arms 18 is insertable into a respective receiver 34 on a respective one of the trunk couplers 32 such that the arms 18 are oriented perpendicular to the plurality of trunk members 30. Additionally, each of the trunk couplers 32 is rotatable into a selected orientation thereby facilitating the receiver 34 which receives the first end 38 of the arm 18 to be pointed in various directions with respect to the trunk members 30. In this way the plurality of trunk couplers 32 can facilitate a user to orient the plurality of arms 18 in a variety of different arrangements on the trunk portion 16. Each of the arms 18 may comprise a polyvinylchloride pipe or the like.
[0022] A plurality of target hangers 44 is provided and each of the target hangers 44 is coupled to a respective one of the arms 18 such that each of the target hangers 44 hangs downwardly from the respective arm. Each of the target hangers 44 comprises a line 46 that is coupled to and extends downwardly from the outer wall 42 of the respective arm. The line 46 is centrally positioned between the first end 38 and the second end 40 of the respective arm, and the line 46 has a distal end 48 with respect to the outer wall 42. Each of the target hangers 44 includes a clamp 50 that is coupled to the distal end of the line 46. The clamp 50 includes a pair of jaws 52 that are biased toward each other. The jaws 52 are urgeable apart from each other and the jaws 52 are directed downwardly from the line 46.
[0023] A plurality of targets 54 is provided and each of the targets 54 is attachable to a respective one of the target hangers 44. In this way each of the targets 54 can be shot at with the golf shots. Furthermore, each of the targets 54 is comprised of a frangible material such that each of the targets 54 shatters when the targets 54 are struck with a projectile. In this way the plurality of targets 54 facilitates a visual alert to the user when the golf ball strikes one of the targets 54.
[0024] Each of the targets 54 has a first surface 56 and a perimeter edge 58, and the perimeter edge 58 is continuously arcuate about a center point of the first surface 56 such that each of the targets 54 has a disk shape. Additionally, indicia 60 are printed on the first surface 56 of each of the targets 54. The indicia 60 on each of the targets 54 may comprise an image, a logo, a brand name or any other type of image. Each of the targets 54 is positionable between the jaws 52 of the clamp 50 associated with each of the target hangers 44.
[0025] In use, the target tree 12 is assembled in whichever orientation the user might prefer and each of the targets 54 is suspended from a respective target hanger 44. Thus, the user can attempt to strike each of the targets 54 with a golf shot. Moreover, each of the targets 54 will shatter when the targets 54 are struck with a golf shot. In this way the user has visual confirmation that they have struck the intended target 54. The target tree 12 can be positioned at any desired distance from the user thereby facilitating all of the types of golf clubs to be employed for target practice.
