    Abstract

    A tape device for a lace wig having lace grids includes a tape and a release liner. The tape includes an elastic layer and an adhesive layer. The elastic layer has a first surface and a second surface, and the adhesive layer is fixedly attached to the second surface of the elastic layer. The release liner is releasably attached to the adhesive layer. The adhesive layer is transparent such that the second surface is visible through the adhesive layer, and the elastic layer is constructed in a skin color such that the elastic layer is removably attached to the lace grids from inside of the lace wig to cover a parting area of the lace wig for making the parting area look natural and making the lace grids less visible or conspicuous.

    Claims

    1. A tape device for a lace wig having lace grids, comprising: a tape, which includes an elastic layer and an adhesive layer, wherein the elastic layer has a first surface and a second surface and the adhesive layer is fixedly attached to the second surface of the elastic layer; and a release liner which is releasably attached to the adhesive layer, wherein the adhesive layer is transparent such that the second surface is visible through the adhesive layer, wherein the elastic layer is constructed in a skin color such that the elastic layer is removably attached to the lace grids from inside of the lace wig to cover a parting area of the lace wig for making the parting area appear natural.

    2. The tape device of claim 1, wherein the tape is formed in a “T” shape which comprises a vertical part and a horizontal part such that the vertical part covers the parting area of the lace wig and the horizontal part covers a hair line area of the lace wig.

    3. The tape device of claim 2, wherein the horizontal part of the tape is outwardly curved.

    4. The tape device of claim 2, wherein the vertical part of the tape meets the horizontal part of the tape at about middle of the horizontal part.

    5. The tape device of claim 2, wherein the vertical part of the tape meets the horizontal part of the tape at a point which is not about the middle of the horizontal part.

    6. The tape device of claim 1, wherein the tape is formed substantially in a rectangular shape, wherein the tape has a front edge, a rear edge, and two sides.

    7. The tape device of claim 6, wherein the front edge of the tape is outwardly curved such that the front edge of the tape covers a hair line area of the lace wig.

    8. The tape device of claim 6, wherein the tape is formed substantially in a square shape.

    9. The tape device of claim 1, wherein the elastic layer is translucent.

    10. The tape device of claim 1, wherein the skin color is light beige, medium warm beige, natural beige, light warm brown, medium brown, medium dark brown, dark brown, cool deep brown, or darkest brown.

    11. The tape device of claim 1, wherein the adhesive layer is made of silicone polymers and a thickness of the tape is about or greater than 0.03 inches.

    12. A method for making lace grids of a lace wig appear natural, comprising the steps of: measuring a length of a parting area of the lace wig; cutting a tape device to the length of the parting area, wherein the tape device includes a tape and a release liner, wherein the tape includes an elastic layer and an adhesive layer, wherein the release liner is releasably attached to the adhesive layer, and wherein the elastic layer is constructed in a skin color; removing the release liner from the tape; removably attaching the elastic layer to the lace grids from inside of the lace wig to cover the parting area.

    13. The method of claim 12, wherein the elastic layer is attached to the lace wig apart from a hairline of the lace wig to provide a sufficient space to apply an adhesive.

    14. The method of claim 12, further comprising the step of tinting the lace wig before the step of removably attaching the elastic layer to the lace grids.

    15. The method of claim 12, further comprising the step of rounding off a front edge of the tape along a hair line of the lace wig after the step of removably attaching the elastic layer to the lace grids.

    16. The method of claim 12, further comprising the step of applying foundation or concealer to the lace wig after the step of removably attaching the elastic layer to the lace grids.

    17. A tape device set for a lace wig having lace grids, comprising: a first tape device which includes a first tape and a first release liner, wherein the first tape includes a first elastic layer and a first adhesive layer, wherein the first elastic layer has a first surface and a second surface, and the first adhesive layer is fixedly attached to the second surface of the first elastic layer, wherein the first release liner is releasably attached to the first adhesive layer, wherein the first adhesive layer is transparent such that the second surface of the first elastic layer is visible through the first adhesive layer, wherein the first elastic layer is constructed in a skin color such that the first elastic layer is removably attached to the lace grids from inside of the lace wig to cover a hair line area of the lace wig for making the hair line area appear natural.

    18. The tape device set of claim 17, wherein the first tape is formed substantially in a rectangular shape, wherein the first tape has a front edge, a rear edge, and two sides, wherein the two sides of the first tape are curved in a same direction.

The tape device set of claim 18, further comprising a second tape device which includes a second tape and a second release liner, wherein the second tape includes a second elastic layer and a second adhesive layer, wherein the second elastic layer has a first surface and a second surface, and the second adhesive layer is fixedly attached to the second surface of the second elastic layer, wherein the second release liner is releasably attached to the second adhesive layer, wherein the second adhesive layer is transparent such that the second surface of the second elastic layer is visible through the second adhesive layer, wherein the second elastic layer is constructed in a skin color such that the second elastic layer is removably attached to the lace grids from inside of the lace wig to cover a parting area of the lace wig for making the parting area appear natural.

    20. The tape device set of claim 17, wherein the second tape is formed substantially in a rectangular shape.

    DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION

    [0032] FIG. 4 shows a roll of a tape device 100 according to one embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 5 shows the tape 10 of the tape device 100 being attached to the parting area 220 of the lace grids 210 from inside of the lace wig 200. As shown in FIG. 6, the tape device 100, for a lace wig 200 having lace grids 210, includes a tape 10 and a release liner 40 which is releasably attached to the tape 10. The tape 10 includes an elastic layer 20 and an adhesive layer 30. The elastic layer 20 has a first surface 21 and a second surface 22, and the adhesive layer 30 is fixedly attached to the second surface 22 of the elastic layer 20. The release liner 40 is releasably attached to the adhesive layer 30. The adhesive layer 30 is transparent such that the second surface 22 of the elastic layer 20 is visible through the adhesive layer 30, and the elastic layer 20 is constructed in a skin color such that the elastic layer 20 is removably attached to the lace grids 210 from inside of the lace wig 200 to cover the parting area 220 of the lace wig 200 for making the parting area 220 appear natural and making the shapes of the lace grids 210 less visible or conspicuous.

    [0033] The elastic layer 20 has a skin-tone color and the elastic layer 20 is attached to the skin-tone lace grids 220 to make the parting area 220 appear natural. In addition, the tape 10 may have a skin-imitating texture to make the parting area 200 appear even more natural and realistic. The tape 10 may be sweat resistant or water proof, or porous to make it breathable.

    [0034] If the tape device 100 is constructed in a roll as shown in FIG. 4, it can be cut to the wear’s desired length and shape. The width of the tape 10 may be about 1.5 inches or 3.0 inches and the length of the tape 100 may be as long as 1.5 yards. Alternatively, the tape device 100 may be pre-cut in various shapes of the tape 10 as shown in FIGS. 7A, 7B, 7C, 7D, and 7E. The tape device may be in any other shapes to suit the lace wig wearer’s needs. The present invention is not limited to the shapes disclosed in the drawings.

    [0035] As shown in FIG. 7D, the tape 10 may be formed in a “T” shape and a corresponding shape of a release liner 40 is releasably attached to the tape 10. The tape 10 includes a vertical part 15 and a horizontal part 16 such that the vertical part 15 covers the parting area 220 of the lace wig 200 and the horizontal part 16 covers a hair line area 240 of the lace wig 200. The horizontal part 16 of the tape may be outwardly curved, corresponding to the contour line of the hair line 230. The parting area 220 may be located about the middle of the hair line 230, or toward right or left from the middle of the hair line 230.

The width and length of the tape 10 may be about 1.5 inches and 5.0 inches, or about 3.0 inches and 7.0 inches.     [0040] As shown in FIG. 7E, the tape 10 may be formed substantially in a rectangular shape, but the two sides 13, 14 of the tape 10 may be curved in the same direction to conform to the curved line of the hair line 230. The width and length of the tape 10 may be about 1.5 inches and 5.0 inches respectively.

    [0041] Preferably, the elastic layer 20 has a color of HD natural (tan) or HD clear (transparent). HD natural (tan) is a high definition color with a brown tine, which has a skin-tone color. HD clear (transparent) has a high definition transparent clear color. These colors produce a natural look of scalp skin color by dispersing the light near the lace grids 210. Lace wig wearers may apply makeup foundation or powder to the tape 10 to modify the tape’s color to correspond to their skin color. Alternatively, the skin color of the elastic layer 20 may be light beige, medium warm beige, natural beige, light warm brown, medium brown, medium dark brown, dark brown, cool deep brown, or darkest brown. In addition, the adhesive layer 30 may be made of silicone polymers, and a thickness of the tape 10 may be about or greater than 0.03 inches. The adhesive layer 30 is thick to cover the holes 211 of the lace grids 210 and well attach the tape 10 to the lace grids 210. It is easy to adjust and re-attach the tape 10 to the lace grids 210 for removing any wrinkle or crease in the attached tape 10.

    [0042] The present invention provides a method for making lace grids 210 of a lace wig 200 appear natural. The method includes the steps of: measuring a length of a parting area 220 of the lace wig 200; cutting a tape device 100 to the length of the parting area 220; removing the release liner 40 from the tape 10; and removably attaching the elastic layer 20 to the lace grids 210 from inside of the lace wig 200 to cover the parting area 220. The tape device 100 includes a tape 10 and a release liner 40, and the tape 10 includes an elastic layer 20 and an adhesive layer 30. The release liner 40 is releasably attached to the adhesive layer 30, and the elastic layer 20 is constructed in a skin color. In case of covering the hair line area 240 by the tape 10, the steps may be modified to: measuring the length of the hair line area 240; cutting the tape device 100 to the length of the hair line area 240; removing the release liner 40 from the tape 10; and removably attaching the elastic layer 20 to the lace grids 210 from inside of the lace wig 200 to cover the hair line area 240.

    [0043] When covering the parting area 220, the elastic layer 20 may be attached to the lace wig 200 apart from a hair line 230 of the lace wig 200 to provide a sufficient space to apply an adhesive along the wearer’s hair line to secure the lace wig 200 to the wearer’s head. The first tape 310 is intended for covering the hair line area 240 of the lace wig 200 for making the hair line area 240 look natural whereas the second tape 410 is intended for covering the parting area 220 of the lace wig 200 for making the parting area 220 look natural. As shown in FIG. 8A, the first tape 310 is formed substantially in a rectangular shape, and the second tape 410 is formed substantially in a rectangular shape.
