Abstract
A novelty toy, having a body with a first portion with a first surface and a second portion with a second surface. At least one magnet is embedded in the first portion in an area proximate the first surface and at least some ferrous material is embedded in the second portion in an area proximate the second surface. The first portion and second portion may be detachably connected to one another at their first and second surfaces, respectively, by way of the magnet and ferrous material. A sound emitting element is embedded in one of the first and second portions, and a power source is connected to the sound emitting element. A switch is electrically positioned between the power source and the sound emitting element and selectively actuable between open and closed positions when the first and second portions are separated from one another and connected to one another, respectively, whereby upon separation of the first portion from the second portion, the switch will move to its closed position and the sound emitting element will emit sound.
Claims
1. A novelty toy, comprising: a. a body having a first portion with a first surface and a second portion with a second surface; b. at least connecting element attached to the first portion in an area proximate the first surface; c. at least one connecting element attached to the second portion in an area proximate the second surface, wherein the first connecting element and second connecting element interact to detachably connect the first portion to the second portion at their first and second surfaces, respectively; d. a sound emitting element; e. a power source connected to the sound emitting element; and f. a switch electrically positioned between the power source and the sound emitting element and selectively actuable between open and closed positions when the first and second portions are separated from one another and connected to one another, respectively, whereby upon separation of the first portion from the second portion, the switch will move to its closed position and the sound emitting element will emit sound.
2. The novelty toy according to claim 1, wherein the first and second portions comprise the first and second halves of a table, respectively.
3. The novelty toy according to claim 1, wherein the first portion and the second portion of the body each contain a cavity formed therein.
4. The novelty toy according to claim 3, wherein the sound emitting element is positioned within the cavity formed in one of the first and second portions.
5. The novelty toy according to claim 1, wherein the first connecting element is a magnet embedded in the first portion.
6. The novelty toy according to claim 1, wherein the second connecting element is ferrous material embedded in the second portion.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS
[0017] The present disclosure describes a sound emitting novelty toy.
[0018] Referring to
[0019] Each body portion 12a, 12b, includes at least one magnet 16, and in the preferred embodiment, half 12a includes three magnets while half 12b includes two magnets. The magnets 16 are arranged such that portion 12a will connect to portion 12b with surfaces 14a and 14b coming into contacting relation with one another to form a complete table top when brought into proximity with one another. Upon an external force being applied to body 12 of sufficient magnitude to separate half 12a from half 12b (by breaking the magnetic bond between them), the two halves will break apart from one another as shown in
[0020] A sound emitting circuit card 18 that includes a speaker from which the recorded sound is emitted is contained within the cavity 19 formed within the body 12. A power source 20 and switch 22 electrically connect to sound emitting circuit card 18 with switch 22 being selectively moved between open and closed positions upon the portions 12a being assembled or disassembled, respectively, relative to one another (i.e., when assembled the switch is open and when the portions are separated, the switch closes and sound is emitted).
[0021] A cover 24a and 24b is positioned in covering relation to cavity 19 formed in body portions 12a and 12b, respectively. Legs 26a and 26b are attached to the bottom of portions 12a and 12b, respectively, to provide support for toy 10 when in its assembled condition.
[0022] While various embodiments have been described and illustrated herein, those of ordinary skill in the art will readily envision a variety of other means and/or structures for performing the function and/or obtaining the results and/or one or more of the advantages described herein, and each of such variations and/or modifications is deemed to be within the scope of the embodiments described herein. More generally, those skilled in the art will readily appreciate that all parameters, dimensions, materials, and configurations described herein are meant to be exemplary and that the actual parameters, dimensions, materials, and/or configurations will depend upon the specific application or applications for which the teachings is/are used. Those skilled in the art will recognize, or be able to ascertain using no more than routine experimentation, many equivalents to the specific embodiments described herein. It is, therefore, to be understood that the foregoing embodiments are presented by way of example only and that, within the scope of the appended claims and equivalents thereto, embodiments may be practiced otherwise than as specifically described and claimed. Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to each individual feature, system, article, material, kit, and/or method described herein. In addition, any combination of two or more such features, systems, articles, materials, kits, and/or methods, if such features, systems, articles, materials, kits, and/or methods are not mutually inconsistent, is included within the scope of the present disclosure.
[0023] The above-described embodiments of the described subject matter can be implemented in any of numerous ways. For example, some embodiments may be implemented using hardware, software or a combination thereof. When any aspect of an embodiment is implemented at least in part in software, the software code can be executed on any suitable processor or collection of processors, whether provided in a single device or computer or distributed among multiple devices/computers.
