    Abstract

A frontal hairpiece especially configured for persons suffering from frontal fibrosing alopecia comprising a flexible foundation adapted to cover a person's scalp from the frontal scalp hair margin to a receding hair line of the scalp and which includes an elongated plastic base adapted to extend laterally across the frontal scalp and having extended end tabs which terminate in front of the auricle of the ear and a plurality of hair strands attached to outside surface of the plastic base

    Claims

    1. A frontal hairpiece comprising, a flexible foundation adapted to cover a person's scalp from the frontal scalp hair margin to a receding hair line of the scalp comprising, an elongated plastic base having an outside surface and adapted to extend laterally across the frontal scalp and having, extended end tabs which terminate in front of the auricle of the ear and, a plurality of hair strands attached to outside surface of the plastic base.

    2. The frontal hairpiece of claim 1 where the plastic base is polyurethane.

    3. The frontal hairpiece of claim 1 where the foundation further comprises, an indented curvilinear frontal edge on the plastic base, a strip of lace having an outside surface and attached to the said frontal edge, and a plurality of hair strands attached to the outside surface of the strip of lace.

    4. The frontal hairpiece of claim 1 where the foundation further comprises, a central relieved portion in the base, a pane of mono filament mesh covering the relieved portion of the base and attached thereto around its perimetrical edges, and a plurality of hair strands attached to the mono filament mesh.

    5. A frontal hairpiece foundation adapted to cover a person's scalp from the frontal scalp hair margin to a receding hair line of the scalp comprising, an elongated plastic base extending laterally across the frontal scalp and having, extended end tabs which terminate in front of the auricle of the ear,

    6. The frontal hairpiece foundation of claim 5 and further comprising, a centrally disposed relieved portion in the plastic base, and a pane of mono filament mesh attached along its perimetrical edges to the base and covering the relieved portion of the base.

    7. The frontal hairpiece foundation of claim 6 and further comprising, an indented curvilinear frontal edge on the plastic base, and a strip of lace attached to the said frontal edge.

    8. The frontal hairpiece foundation of claim 7 where a portion of the perimetrical edge of the mono filament mesh is overlapped by a portion of the base, forming a footing for clips that attach the hairpiece to the receding hair line.

    9. A frontal hairpiece comprisng, a flexible foundation adapted to cover a person's scalp from the frontal scalp hair margin to a receding hair line of the scalp comprising, an elongated polyurethane base having an outside surface and extending laterally across the frontal scalp and having, extended end tabs which terminate in front of the auricle of the ear, an indented curvilinear frontal edge on the base, a central relieved portion in the base a strip of lace having an outside surface and attached to the curvilinear frontal edge of the base, a pane of mono filament mesh attached along its perimetrical edges to the base and covering the relieved portion of the base, and a plurality of hair strands attached to the outside surfaces of the polyurethane base and the strip of lace and tied into the mono filament mesh.

    10. The frontal hairpiece of claim 9 where a portion of the perimetrical edge of the mono filament mesh is overlapped by a portion of the base, forming a footing for clips that attach the hairpiece to the receding hair line.

    Description

    DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0004] FIG. 1 is a bottom view of the hairpiece of the present invention.

[0005] FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the hairpiece positioned on the frontal scalp of a person where the hair carded by the frontal portion of the foundation and the left side of the foundation has been omitted from the drawing to clarify the construction of the foundation.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF A PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0006] Referring to FIG. 1 it is seen that the hairpiece of the present invention comprise a foundation 10 with hair strands 6 attached to the top side of the foundation. The base 7 of the foundation is constructed with flexible soft plastic, preferably polyurethane, and is sized and dimensioned to cover the frontal portion of a person's scalp and includes tabs 2 at each of its ends.

[0007] As seen in FIG. 2, in order to support hair 6 to replace the lost hair in front of the ear, the tabs 2 of the base 7 extend downwardly over each side of the head to a position in front of the upper approximately one third of the auricle 11 of the ear. Hair strands 6, equivalent in color and texture to the person's hair at the receding hair line, are attached to the upper side of the whole polyurethane base 7.

[0008] The curvilinear forward edge 3 of the base 7 is indented to accept an attached strip 4 of lace, or similar material, whose color and texture will blend in with the skin of the person wearing the hairpiece. Hair strands 6 similar to those attached to the polyurethane base are attached to the top side of the lace strip 4. If hairpiece longevity is a priority the lace strip may be omitted and the frontal edge 3 of the base extended forwardly to cover the area that would have been covered by the lace strip.

[0009] The central portion of the base 7 is relieved and replaced with a pane of mono filament mesh 8 that allows the scalp to breath. The mesh is attached around its perimetrical edges to the polyurethane base. Hair strands 6 similar to those aftached to the polyurethane base are tied into the top side of the mesh 8.

[0010] The rearward edge 9 of the base member 7 is stiffened to a small degree by the overlapping of the base member with the rearward edge of the mono filament mesh 8. This rearward edge provides a footing for a plurality of spaced apart clips (not shown) that attach the rear edge of the foundation 10 to the natural hair along the receding hair line.
