Abstract
A bar mounting bath shelf device for attaching to a bar in a bath or shower for holding items on a horizontal surface includes a shelf with a clamp coupled to a bottom surface of the shelf, wherein the shelf is clampable to a cylindrical bar such that said shelf is positioned horizontally. The shelf has an aperture extending through a top surface of the shelf to the bottom surface which is configured for receiving a neck of a bottle while the shelf supports the bottle. The shelf also has a hole configured for receiving one of a toothbrush and a razor therethrough while the shelf supports the one of a toothbrush and a razor. And a slot extends from a front edge of the shelf to the hole, wherein the slot is configured for laterally receiving the one of a toothbrush and a razor into the hole.
Claims
1. A bar mounting bath shelf device comprising: a shelf, said shelf having a pair of ends, said shelf having a front edge and a back edge opposing said front edge, each of said front edge and said back edge extending between said pair of ends, said shelf having a top surface and a bottom surface opposing said top surface, each of said top surface and said bottom surface extending between said pair of ends and between said front edge and said back edge, said shelf being planar; an aperture, said aperture extending through said top surface of said shelf and said bottom surface of said shelf, said aperture being configured for receiving a neck of a bottle therethrough, said shelf being configured for supporting the bottle on the top surface while the neck of the bottle is received through said aperture; a hole, said hole extending through said top surface and said bottom surface, said hole being positioned proximate said front edge of said shelf, said hole being configured for receiving one of a toothbrush and a razor therethrough, said shelf being configured for supporting the one of a toothbrush and a razor while being received through said hole; a slot, said slot extending between said front edge of said shelf and said hole, said slot having a width parallel to said back edge of said shelf less than a width of said hole parallel to said back edge of said shelf, each said slot being configured for laterally receiving the one of a toothbrush and a razor therethrough; a clamp, said clamp being coupled to and extending away from said bottom surface of said shelf, said clamp being configured for clamping to a bar whereby said shelf is coupled to the bar in a horizontal position, said shelf being configured for supporting an item on said top surface when in said horizontal position; and said shelf having a boundary portion and a central portion being positioned within the boundary portion, said central portion being formed of a grating, said grating being configured for draining a liquid, said grating comprising a plurality of slats, each said slat having a top side being coplanar with said top surface of said shelf and a bottom side being coplanar with said bottom surface of said shelf.

The device of claim 1, further comprising said plurality of slats comprising a first portion and a second portion having a plurality of said slats, each slat of said first portion being parallel to each other slat of said first portion, each slat of said second portion being parallel to each other slat of said second portion, each said slat of said first portion being perpendicular to each said slat of said second portion, each said slat of said plurality of slats being positioned at a 45.0-degree angle to said back edge.
3. The device of claim 1, further comprising said aperture being defined by a ring positioned within said central portion of said shelf.
4. The device of claim 3, further comprising said ring having a top side being coplanar with said top surface of said shelf and a bottom side being coplanar with said bottom surface of said shelf.
5. The device of claim 1, further comprising said aperture being circular.

The device of claim 1, further comprising said aperture being one of a plurality of apertures, each said aperture extending through said top surface of said shelf and said bottom surface of said shelf, each said aperture being configured for receiving a neck of a bottle therethrough, said shelf being configured for supporting the bottle on the top surface while the neck of the bottle is received through each said aperture.
7. The device of claim 6, further comprising said plurality of apertures being aligned parallel to said back edge of said shelf.
8. The device of claim 6, further comprising each said aperture being equal in size and shape to each other aperture.

The device of claim 3, further comprising a lip, said lip being coupled to and extending along said front edge of said shelf, said lip extending away from said shelf, said lip being angled upward when said top surface of said shelf faces upward, said lip having a distal end relative to said shelf.
10. The device of claim 9, further comprising said central portion of said shelf being centered between said back edge of said shelf and said distal end of said lip.
11. The device of claim 9, further comprising said ring being centered between said back edge of said shelf and said distal end of said lip.
12. The device of claim 9, further comprising: said hole being one of a plurality of holes, said plurality of holes extending through said top surface and said bottom surface, each said hole being positioned in said boundary portion of said shelf between said front edge of said shelf and said central portion of said shelf, each said hole being configured for receiving the one of a toothbrush and a razor therethrough, said shelf being configured for supporting the one of a toothbrush and a razor while being received through an associated hole of said plurality of holes; and said slot being one of a plurality of slots, each said slot extending between said distal end of said lip and an associated hole of said plurality of holes, each said slot having a width parallel to said back edge of said shelf less than a width of said associated hole parallel to said back edge of said shelf, each said slot being configured for laterally receiving the one of a toothbrush and a razor therethrough.

The device of claim 12, further comprising said plurality of holes comprising a pair of first holes and a pair of second holes, a distance between said pair of first holes being equal to a distance between said pair of second holes, each of said pair of first holes and said pair of second holes being positioned proximate an associated end of said shelf, said plurality of holes being positioned symmetrically about a midpoint of said front edge of said shelf.
14. The device of claim 12, further comprising said plurality of holes being aligned parallel to said back edge of said shelf, each said hole being elongated parallel to said back edge of said shelf.
15. The device of claim 12, further comprising each said hole being equal in size and shape to each other hole, each said slot being equal in size and shape to each other slot.
16. The device of claim 9, further comprising said clamp being one of a pair of clamps, each said clamp being coupled to and extending away from said bottom surface of said shelf, each said clamp being configured for clamping to the bar whereby said shelf is coupled to the bar in a horizontal position.
17. The device of claim 16, further comprising each of said clamps being positioned proximate an associated end of said shelf, said pair of clamps being aligned parallel to said back edge of said shelf and centered between said back edge of said shelf and said distal end of said lip.
18. The device of claim 1, further comprising said clamp being constructed of a resilient, elastic material, said clamp being arcuate, said clamp being configured for elastically clamping to a cylindrical bar.
19. A bar mounting bath shelf device comprising: a shelf, said shelf having a pair of ends, said shelf having a front edge and a back edge opposing said front edge, each of said front edge and said back edge extending between said pair of ends, said shelf having a top surface and a bottom surface opposing said top surface, each of said top surface and said bottom surface extending between said pair of ends and between said front edge and said back edge, said shelf being planar, said shelf having a boundary portion and a central portion being positioned within the boundary portion, said central portion being formed of a grating, said grating being configured for draining a liquid, said grating comprising a plurality of slats, each said slat having a top side being coplanar with said top surface of said shelf and a bottom side being coplanar with said bottom surface of said shelf, said plurality of slats comprising a first portion and a second portion having a plurality of said slats, each slat of said first portion being parallel to each other slat of said first portion, each slat of said second portion being parallel to each other slat of said second portion, each said slat of said first portion being perpendicular to each said slat of said second portion, each said slat of said plurality of slats being positioned at a 45.0-degree angle to said back edge; a plurality of rings, said plurality of rings being positioned within said central portion of said shelf, each said ring defining an associated aperture of a plurality of apertures, each said aperture extending through said shelf, each said ring having a top side being coplanar with said top surface of said shelf and a bottom side being coplanar with said bottom surface of said shelf, each said ring being circular, each said ring being configured for receiving a neck of a bottle therethrough, said shelf being configured for supporting the bottle on the top surface while the neck of the bottle is received through an associated ring of said plurality of rings, said plurality of rings comprising a set of three rings, said set of three rings comprising a center ring and a pair of outer rings, said center ring being centered between said pair of ends of said shelf, said pair of outer rings being equidistant from said center ring, said set of three rings being aligned parallel to said back edge of said shelf, each said ring being equal in size and shape to each other ring; a lip, said lip being coupled to and extending along said front edge of said shelf, said lip extending away from said shelf, said lip being angled upward when said top surface of said shelf faces upward, said lip having a distal end relative to said shelf, said central portion of said shelf being centered between said back edge of said shelf and said distal end of said lip, said plurality of rings being aligned along a line, said line being centered between said back edge of said shelf and said distal end of said lip; a plurality of holes, said plurality of holes extending through said top surface and said bottom surface, each said hole being positioned in said boundary portion of said shelf between said front edge of said shelf and said central portion of said shelf, each said hole being configured for receiving one of a toothbrush and a razor therethrough, said shelf being configured for supporting the one of a toothbrush and a razor while being received through an associated hole of said plurality of holes, said plurality of holes comprising a pair of first holes and a pair of second holes, a distance between said pair of first holes being equal to a distance between said pair of second holes, each of said pair of first holes and said pair of second holes being positioned proximate an associated end of said shelf, said plurality of holes being positioned symmetrically about a midpoint of said front edge of said shelf, said plurality of holes being aligned parallel to said back edge of said shelf, each said hole being elongated parallel to said back edge of said shelf, each said hole being equal in size and shape to each other hole; a plurality of slots, each said slot extending between said distal end of said lip and an associated hole of said plurality of holes, each said slot having a width parallel to said back edge of said shelf less than a width of said associated hole parallel to said back edge of said shelf, each said slot being configured for laterally receiving the one of a toothbrush and a razor therethrough, each said slot being equal in size and shape to each other slot; and a pair of clamps, each said clamp being constructed of a resilient, elastic material, each said clamp being coupled to and extending away from said bottom surface of said shelf, each said clamp being coupled to said boundary portion of said shelf, each said clamp being positioned proximate an associated end of said shelf, said pair of clamps being aligned parallel to said back edge of said shelf and centered between said back edge of said shelf and said distal end of said lip, each said clamp being arcuate, each said clamp being configured for elastically clamping to a cylindrical bar whereby said shelf is coupled to the bar in a horizontal position, said shelf being configured for supporting an item on said top surface when in said horizontal position.

(8) Each of a plurality of circular rings 40 is positioned within the central portion 26 of the shelf 12 and defines an associated aperture 42 of a plurality of apertures 42, wherein each aperture 42 extends 14 through the shelf 12. Each ring 40 has a top side that is coplanar with the top surface 20 of the shelf 12 and a bottom side is coplanar with the bottom surface 22 of the shelf 12. Each ring 40 is configured for receiving a neck 50 of a bottle 48 therethrough, and the shelf 12 is configured for supporting the bottle 48 on the top surface 20 while the neck 50 of the bottle 48 is received through an associated ring 40 of the plurality of rings 40. The plurality of rings 40 comprising a set of three equally sized and shaped rings 40 which are aligned parallel to the back edge 18 of the shelf 12. The set of three rings 40 comprise a center ring 52 and a pair of outer rings 54, wherein the center ring 52 is centered between the pair of ends 14 of the shelf 12 and the pair of outer rings 54 is equidistant from the center ring 52.
(9) A lip 56 is coupled to and extends along the front edge 16 of the shelf 12. The lip 56 extends away from the shelf 12 and is angled upward when the top surface 20 of the shelf 12 faces upward. The lip 56 has a distal end 58 relative to the shelf 12. The central portion 26 of the shelf 12 is centered between the back edge 18 of the shelf 12 and the distal end 58 of the lip 56. Each ring 40 is also centered between the back edge 18 of the shelf 12 and the distal end 58 of the lip 56.
(10) A plurality of equally sized and shaped holes 60 extends through the top surface 20 and the bottom surface 22. Each hole 60 is positioned in the boundary portion 24 of the shelf 12 between the front edge 16 of the shelf 12 and the central portion 26 of the shelf 12. Each hole 60 is configured for receiving one of a toothbrush 62 and a razor therethrough, and the shelf 12 is configured for supporting the one of a toothbrush 62 and a razor while being received through an associated hole 60 of the plurality of holes 60.
(11) The plurality of holes 60 comprises a pair of first holes 64 and a pair of second holes 66. A distance between the pair of first holes 64 is equal to a distance between the pair of second holes 66. Each of the pair of first holes 64 and the pair of second holes 66 is positioned proximate an associated end 14 of the shelf 12, and the plurality of holes 60 is positioned symmetrically about a midpoint of the front edge 16 of the shelf 12. The plurality of holes 60 is also aligned parallel to the back edge 18 of the shelf 12, and each hole 60 is elongated parallel to the back edge 18 of the shelf 12.
(12) Each of a plurality of equally sized and shaped slots 68 extend between the distal end 58 of the lip 56 and an associated hole 60 of the plurality of holes 60. Each slot 68 has a width parallel to the back edge 18 of the shelf 12 less than a width of the associated hole 60 parallel to the back edge 18 of the shelf 12. Each slot 68 is configured for laterally receiving the one of a toothbrush 62 and a razor therethrough.
(13) Each of a pair of clamps 70 is constructed of a resilient, elastic material and is coupled to and extends away from the bottom surface 22 of the shelf 12. Each clamp 70 is coupled to the boundary portion 24 of the shelf 12 and is positioned proximate an associated end 14 of the shelf 12. The pair of clamps 70 is aligned parallel to the back edge 18 of the shelf 12 and centered between the back edge 18 of the shelf 12 and the distal end 58 of the lip 56. Each clamp 70 is arcuate and is configured for elastically clamping to a cylindrical bar 72 whereby the shelf 12 is coupled to the cylindrical bar 72 in a horizontal position. The shelf 12 is configured for supporting an item 74 on the top surface 20 when in the horizontal position. “Horizontal position” as used in the detailed description and the claims includes all positions where the item 74 is supportable on the top surface 20.
(14) In use, the device 10 is elastically clamped to a cylindrical bar 72 such that the shelf 12 is coupled to the cylindrical bar 72 in a horizontal position. Then, an item 74 may be supported on the top surface 20 of the shelf 12, a bottle 48 may be inserted into a ring 40 of said plurality of rings 40 such that the shelf 12 supports the bottle 48, and one of the toothbrush 62 and the razor may be inserted laterally through a slot 68 of the plurality of slots 68 and into an associated hole 60 of said plurality of holes 60 whereby the shelf 12 supports the one of a toothbrush 62 and a razor as desired. Liquid which falls onto the shelf 12 will drain through the grating 28 of the central portion 26 of the shelf 12.
(15) With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
