An extruded airbag ramp, comprising: a plurality of materials forming a channel, wherein at least one of the materials provides a structural portion of the extruded airbag ramp, and at least one of another of the materials is a tear-resistant material providing at least one attachment portion adapted to be operably attached to another predetermined part, said attachment portion of tear-resistant material is bounded on at least one side by one of said materials that is less hard than the structural portion.
2. The extruded airbag ramp of claim 1, wherein the tear-resistant material is sewn to the part.
3. The extruded airbag ramp of claim 1, wherein the part is a headliner for a vehicle.
4. The extruded airbag ramp of claim 1, wherein the attachment portion includes at least one fastener attachable to said part.
5. The extruded airbag ramp of claim 4, wherein the at least one fastener is at least one clip.
6. (canceled)
7. The extruded airbag ramp of claim 1, wherein the extruded airbag ramp is a side curtain airbag ramp and is operably connected to said predetermined part, wherein said predetermined part is a headliner for a vehicle.
8. The extruded airbag ramp of claim 1, wherein the structural portion of said airbag ramp is operably sewn to said part.
9. The extruded airbag ramp of claim 1, wherein the structural portion of said airbag ramp has a higher durometer than said tear-resistant material.
10. The extruded airbag ramp of claim 1, wherein the structural portion provides predetermined amount of stiffness to eliminate an expanse of material required for strengthening substantially between the structural portion and attachment portion.
11. (canceled)
12. The extruded airbag ramp of claim 1, a durometer of at least one material is at least about 50 D.
13. The extruded airbag ramp of claim 1, wherein at least one material is thermoplastic vulcanizates.
14. The extruded airbag ramp of claim 1, wherein the attachment portion of tear-resistant material is bounded on both sides by polypropylene material.
15. (canceled)
16. (canceled)
17. (canceled)
18. (canceled)
19. An extruded airbag ramp adapted for a vehicle, comprising: a plurality of materials that are co-extruded, wherein at least one of the materials has predetermined stiffness adapted for a structural portion of the airbag ramp to be operably coupled to a predetermined part of said vehicle, said structural portion adjoining at least one less stiff material, and at least one of another of the materials is a tear-resistant material providing at least one attachment portion operably adapted to connect to said predetermined part.
20. The extruded airbag ramp of claim 19, wherein one of said plurality of materials is a softer material forming an arched ramp portion and a base portion of said extruded airbag ramp and adjoining both ends of the structural portion and adjoining each side of the plurality of attachment portion, wherein said arched ramp portion, base portion and structural portion forms a channel and the structural portion is adapted to provide stiffness that allows elimination of an expanse of material within the channel.
21. The extruded airbag ramp of claim 1, wherein said at least one attachment portion is bound on one side by said structural portion.
22. The extruded airbag ramp of claim 1, wherein said structural member at least forms a stiffer edge of said channel.
23. The extruded airbag ramp of claim 1, wherein there are at least two of said attachment portions.
24. The extruded airbag ramp of claim 23, wherein said at least two attachment portions are bound on both sides by the one of said materials that is less hard than the structural portion.
25. The extruded airbag ramp of claim 1, wherein said one of said materials that is less hard than the structural portion additionally forms a portion extending outward from said channel.
26. The extruded airbag ramp of claim 1, wherein there are at least two of said attachment portions operably adapted to be sewn and fastened to said predetermined part.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0016] The following description of the preferred embodiment(s) is merely exemplary in nature and is in no way intended to limit the invention, its application, or uses.
[0017] Referring to
[0018] A first portion of the airbag ramp, shown generally at 12, is formed of a first material. The first material is preferably the hardest of all the other materials of the ramp 10. The first material is a preferably a polypropylene. Typically, the first material portion has a durometer of about 50 D, however, greater or lesser durometers are contemplated depending on the application without departure from the scope of the present invention. The first portion 12 has a predetermined shape and dimensions (e.g., profile(s), shape(s), contour(s), thickness(s), length(s), width(s), height(s), etc) depending on the particular application.
[0019] A second portion of the airbag ramp, shown generally at 14, is formed of a second material. The second material is softer than the first material. The second material is preferably a thermoplastic olefin (TPO). Typically, the second material portion has a durometer of about 50B, however, greater or lesser durometers are contemplated depending on the application without departure from the scope of the present invention. The second portion 14 has a predetermined shape and dimensions (e.g., profile(s), shape(s), contour(s), thickness(s), length(s), width(s), height(s), etc) depending on the application.
[0020] Alternatively, the ramp section 15c is at least partly formed of a third material, typically a soft material, preferably thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPV).
[0021] Referring to
