Abstract
A cap ventilation system and a cap including the system are provided. The cap ventilation system includes at least one spacer that when fixed to an interior or a brim of the cap, creates a gap between the interior or brim of the cap and the head of the user. If desired, a plurality of spacers may be spaced about the circumference of the interior or brim to extend the gap about the circumference of the interior or brim.
Claims
1. A cap ventilation system for a cap comprising: at least one spacer adapted to be fixed to an interior or brim of a cap, wherein said at least one spacer is adapted to create a gap between the brim and the head of a user.
2. The cap ventilation system of claim 1, wherein said cap ventilation system contains a plurality of spacers adapted to be fixed and spaced about the brim of said cap.
3. The cap ventilation system of claim 1 wherein said cap ventilation system contains four spacers adapted to be substantially evenly fixed to and spaced about the brim of said cap.
4. The cap ventilation system of claim 1 wherein said spacer contains a cushion attached to a clip, wherein said clip is adapted to be fixed over the brim of the cap.
5. The cap ventilation system of claim 1 wherein said at least one spacer contains a cushion having an adhesive back, said cushion adapted to be adhesively applied to the interior or brim of said cap.
6. The cap ventilation system of claim 1 wherein said at least one spacer contains a cushion having a first Velcro member adhesively applied to said cushion, and, said at least one spacer contains a second Velcro member adhesively applied to the interior or brim of said cap, wherein said first Velcro member is adapted to be removably fixed to said second Velcro member.
7. The cap ventilation system of claim 1 wherein said at least one spacer contains one or more cushions sewn within the interior or brim of said cap.
8. The cap ventilation system of claim 1 wherein said at least one spacer contains a cushion sewn to the interior or brim of said cap.
9. A cap containing the cap ventilation system of claim 1.
10. A cap ventilation system for a cap comprising: a plurality of spacers adapted to be fixed to an interior or a brim of a cap, wherein said plurality of spacers when fixed to the interior or brim are adapted to create a gap between the interior or brim and the head of a user except where each of said plurality of spacers contact the head of the user.
11. A method of providing an air flow between the inside of a cap and the outside of the cap, the method comprising the steps of: providing a cap containing an interior or a brim; providing at least one spacer adapted to be attached to the interior or brim of the cap, wherein the at least one spacer creates a gap between the interior or brim of the cap and the head of a user; and attaching the at least one spacer to the brim of the cap to create the gap.
12. The method of providing an air flow of claim 12 wherein said step of providing at least one spacer further comprises the steps of: providing a plurality of spacers; attaching the spacers to the interior or brim of the cap; and spacing the spacers about the interior or brim of the cap.
13. The method of claim 13 wherein the step of spacing the spacers about the interior or brim of the cap further comprises the step of spacing the spacers substantially evenly about the interior or brim of the cap.
14. The method of claim 12 wherein providing at least one spacer further comprises the step of: providing a cushion attached to a clip, wherein the clip is adapted to be fixed over the brim of the cap.
15. The method of claim 12 wherein providing at least one spacer further comprises the step of: providing an adhesively backed cushion, wherein the cushion is adapted to be adhesively applied to the interior or brim of the cap.
16. The method of claim 12 wherein providing at least one spacer further comprises the steps of: providing a first adhesively backed Velcro member and attaching it to a cushion; and providing a second adhesively backed Velcro member and attaching it to the interior or the brim.
17. The method of claim 17 wherein attaching the at least one spacer to the brim of the cap includes the step of mating the first adhesively backed Velcro member to the second adhesively backed Velcro member.
18. The method of claim 12 wherein the steps of providing at least one spacer and attaching the at least one spacer to the brim further comprises the steps of: providing at least one cushion; and sewing the cushion within or onto the brim.
19. The method of claim 12 wherein the steps of providing at least one spacer and attaching the at least one spacer to the brim further comprises the steps of: providing at least one cushion; and adhesively applying the cushion within the interior or onto the brim.
20. A cap containing a cap ventilation system of claim 1.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0016] As shown in the Figures, a cap and cap ventilation system is currently provided, for ventilation of heat and humidity/moisture within the cap when worn. As shown in
[0017] In a preferred embodiment of the cap ventilation system shown in
[0018] With reference to
[0019] In a second exemplary cap ventilation system 200 shown in
[0020] In a third exemplary cap ventilation system 300 shown in
[0021] In yet another fourth exemplary cap ventilation system 400 shown in
[0022] As is evident from the above descriptions of the various exemplary embodiments, the cap ventilation systems of the present invention may be retrofit onto or into an existing cap 20, or, alternatively, a novel cap 20 may contain an exemplary cap ventilation system 400, for example, that is integrated within the cap 20 as it is manufactured.
[0023] In yet another aspect of the invention, a method of providing an air flow between the inside of the cap 20 and the outside of the cap 20 is provided in the following steps: [0024] 1. provide a cap 20 containing an interior 15 and if desired, a brim 16; [0025] 2. provide at least one spacer 22 adapted to be attached to the interior 15 or the brim 16 of the cap 20, wherein the at least one spacer 22 creates a gap 14 between the interior 15 or the brim 16 of the cap 20, and the head 18 of a user; and [0026] 3. attach the at least one spacer 22 to the interior 15 or the brim 16 of the cap 20 to create the gap 14.
It will be appreciated that any of the spacers described herein may be utilized in this method. Additionally, it will be appreciated that a plurality of spacers 22 may be attached to the brim 16 to create a substantially greater gap 14 between the head 18 of the user and the brim 16.
[0027] While a preferred embodiment of the invention has been disclosed in detail, it should be understood by those skilled in the art that various other modifications may be made to the illustrated embodiments without departing from the scope of the invention as described in the specification and defined in the appended claims. For example, other known manufacturing techniques may be used and the structures or methods of forming each constituent of the cap ventilation systems described herein should not be construed as limited to the methods or structures disclosed herein.
