    Description

    [0035] The invention is described in more detail below with reference to a drawing showing a single embodiment. Therein:

    [0036] FIG. 1 is an overall view of the package according to the invention;

    [0037] FIG. 2 shows a view of the pallet according to FIG. 1 from above in direction X; and

    [0038] FIG. 3 shows a modified embodiment with two packages one above the other.

    [0039] A package for strapping bands is shown in the drawing. The strapping bands are, for example, plastic strips made by extrusion and that optionally are embossed. The plastic band in question may have a strip thickness in the range from 0.5 to 2 mm. The band is between 9 mm and 60 mm wide. The strapping band is formed into coils 1 approximately 300 mm to 400 mm thick.

    [0040] With reference to FIG. 1, it can be seen that, within the scope of the illustrated embodiment, a total of three coils 1 are stacked one above the other and form a coil stack. For this purpose, the strapping bands are wound around respective cores 5 (see FIG. 2) that are not shown in detail but are typically designed as cylindrical cardboard sleeves. The strapping band is wound helically in turns, with each strapping band having a width equal to the coil height along a vertical axis R of the package

    [0041] The coil 1 in question or the coil stack formed in this way sits on a pallet 2, as shown in the illustrated embodiment. As is customary, the pallet 2 has parallel ground-engaging runners 3 spaced apart from one another so that prongs of an industrial truck, for example a fork lift, can be inserted between the runners 3 in order to be able to transport the pallet 2 with the coil 1 or coil stack thereon.

    [0042] According to the invention, the pallet 2 is equipped according to a top view in direction X with centering formations 4 for the core 5 of the coil 1 as shown in FIG. 2. The centering formations 4 are, as shown in FIG. 2, a plurality of posts projecting upward from a pallet upper face 6. They form a centering structure with a plurality of centering points 7 that engage a cylindrical inner surface of the core 5, with the result that the coil 1 is centered when it is placed on the pallet upper face 6 of the pallet 2 as shown in FIG. 2.

    [0043] According to the illustrated embodiment, the centering structure 4 and the pallet 2 are made integrally from wood. In addition, the pallet 2 is designed to carry a plurality of coils 1, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 3. In fact, the coils 1 form the previously mentioned coil stack supported by the pallet 2 and carried thereon. For this purpose, the coils 1 or coil stack they form is removably secured to the pallet 2 by a plurality of strapping bands 9.

    [0044] In fact, in FIG. 1, respective strapping bands 8 are shown that each surround a respective one of the coils 1 to prevent unwinding thereof. Normally several such straps 8 are provided for each coil 1, for instance three angularly equispaced by 120°.

    [0045] In addition, the individual coils 1 are removably coupled to one another and to the pallet 2 by the additional strapping bands 9, as can be seen from FIG. 3. In order to access the strapping, it is merely necessary to release these straps 8 and 9. The strapping band wound on the core 5 can then be fed directly to a strapping machine. For this purpose, the package shown, for example, in FIG. 1 is rotatable about its axis R on a turntable of a strapping machine (not shown in detail).

    [0046] Thus, as a result of the centering of the respective coil 1 with the aid of the centering formations 4 and the mutual alignment of the coils 1 during creation of the illustrated coil stack, the coils 1 or coil stack and the pallet 2 have a common rotational symmetry axis R. As a result, the package can be carried without problems on the turntable of the strapping machine already mentioned above and, by rotating the turntable, the wound strapping band can be unwound and fed, for example, to a drive of the strapping machine.

    [0047] Finally, it can be seen from FIG. 3 that the coil stack formed from the individual coils 1 and the pallet 2 have a common transport covering 10. According to the illustrated embodiment, the transport wrapping 10 is a film. This film can be wound around the package with the aid of a film-winding machine and connected thereto and ensures that the package is protected from dirt, moisture, etc.

    [0048] The plastic strip can be, for example, a polyester, polypropylene or other suitable thermoplastic plastics. In this case, a recyclate can also be used entirely or partially. In addition, the whole or partial use of renewable raw materials, for example polylactides, is also conceivable. The pallet upper side 6 or the pallet 2 overall has a surface which is adapted to the diameter of the coil 1 and has the smallest possible lateral projection.
