Abstract
A water recycling system for reprocessing and reusing bathing water from a bath or shower. The bathing water recycling system treats and reuses water that overflows from a bathtub or shower pan. The used bathing water is captured and retained after use. The captured dirty water is then filtered and purified. The filtered and purified water can be redistributed back into the shower or bathtub for reuse alone or in combination with additional fresh water. The treated water may also be rewarmed prior to reuse. Unneeded greywater water is redirected to the drain for disposal.
Claims
1. A bathing water recycling system comprising: a primary water collection component; an overflow water collection component for receiving and retaining water overflow from the primary water collection component; a water recycling component for treating the water overflow; and a pump in fluid communication with the water recycling component for redirecting the treated water back into the primary water collection component.
2. The bathing water recycling system of claim 1, wherein the primary water collection component is a bathtub.
3. The bathing water recycling system of claim 1, wherein the primary water collection component comprises a greywater outlet to the overflow water collection component and a treated water inlet.
4. The bathing water recycling system of claim 1, wherein the overflow water collection component is a catch basin positioned under the primary water collection component.
5. The bathing water recycling system of claim 1, wherein the overflow water collection component comprises a water recycling outlet for directing water to the pump.
6. The bathing water recycling system of claim 5, wherein the water recycling outlet comprises a three-way valve.
7. The bathing water recycling system of claim 1, wherein the water recycling component comprises a filtration element.
8. The bathing water recycling system of claim 1, wherein the water recycling component comprises a purification element.
9. The bathing water recycling system of claim 1, wherein the water recycling component comprises a heating element.
10. A bathing water recycling system comprising: a primary water collection bathtub; an overflow water collection catch basin positioned under the primary water collection bathtub for receiving and retaining water overflow from the primary water collection bathtub; a water recycling component for treating and heating the water overflow; and a pump in fluid communication with the water recycling component for redirecting the treated water back into the primary water collection bathtub.
11. The bathing water recycling system of claim 10, wherein the overflow water collection catch basin is longer and wider than the primary water collection bathtub.
12. The bathing water recycling system of claim 10, wherein the overflow water collection component is at least three inches in depth.
13. The bathing water recycling system of claim 10, wherein the overflow water collection catch basin comprises a water recycling outlet for directing water to the pump.
14. The bathing water recycling system of claim 13, wherein the water recycling outlet comprises a plurality of grates and a three-way valve.
15. The bathing water recycling system of claim 10, wherein the water recycling component mechanically and chemically filters the water overflow.
16. The bathing water recycling system of claim 10, wherein the water recycling component purifies the water overflow.
17. The bathing water recycling system of claim 10 further comprising a controller for directing the water overflow to the water recycling component or to a greywater drain of the water recycling outlet.
18. A bathing water recycling system for a shower comprising: a primary water collection shower pan; an overflow water collection catch basin positioned below the primary water collection shower pan for receiving and retaining water overflow from the primary water collection shower pan; a water recycling component for treating the water overflow; and a pump in fluid communication with the water recycling component for redirecting the treated water back into the shower.
19. The bathing water recycling system of claim 18, wherein the water recycling component comprises a comprises a heating element.
20. The bathing water recycling system of claim 19, wherein the water recycling component comprises a filtration element and a purification element.

The invention features a basin installed under the bath, catching overflow bath water, and allowing it to flow into a recycling and purification system. The invention warms the filtered water and allows it to be redistributed back into the bath or shower. The system is comprised of a bathtub or shower area with a basin surrounding the perimeter.
